BetterBlockZ: DecorZ is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 0.1.1-26.1.2-neoforge. A decorative addon for BetterBlockZ that adds custom-modeled blocks. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is BetterBlockZ: DecorZ?

1 part

BetterBlockZ: DecorZ is a decorative add-on for BetterBlockZ that adds custom-modeled blocks. Its main feature is the Cyber Lights: full-bright light fixtures that you can place flexibly and build with in a modular way. The project page says more blocks are coming in future updates.[1]

This pack ships version 0.1.1-26.1.2-neoforge of the mod, and it has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]

What you can build with

  • Modular blocks (Panel, Cut Panel and Strip): place them side by side for seamless custom light layouts. Sneak-place to start a separate connection network.[1]
  • Multi-face stacking blocks (Plate, Cover, Flat Lamp and Hexagon Lamp): up to 6 can share one block space, on the floor, the ceiling and all four walls.[1]
  • Omni-directional blocks (Lantern and Quad Lantern): these attach to floors, walls and ceilings.[1]
  • Number decals: flat decals you can put on every side of a block. Right-click to cycle through the numbers 0-9. The rotation adjusts automatically based on the way the block faces.[1]
Tip: These blocks don't need support, so they won't break when floating. They also support rotation and mirroring, which makes them easier to use with tools like Building Gadgets.[1]

How do you get started with BetterBlockZ: DecorZ?

4 parts

BetterBlockZ: DecorZ is all about Cyber Lights: full-bright decorative fixtures you can build into custom light layouts. Here is the order I'd go in.[1]

First: craft a panel

Start with a panel. In this pack it is a shaped crafting recipe that gives you 6 panels at once, and there are panel recipes in many colours. Black is shown below. The other colours work the same way, for example Blue Cyber Light Panel and White Cyber Light Panel.[3]

Crafting Shaped

Makes 6 Black Cyber Light Panels per craft.

Panels are one of the modular blocks. Place them side by side and they join into a seamless custom light layout.[1]

Next: use the stonecutter for the other shapes

The other Cyber Light shapes are stonecutting recipes in this pack, including covers, cut panels, strips, plates, flat lamps, hexagon lamps, lanterns and quad lanterns. Here are some black examples.[1][3]

Strips are modular too, so they connect side by side.

Lanterns can attach to floors, walls and ceilings.

        How the shapes place

Tip: Sneak-place a modular block to start a separate connection network instead of joining the one next to it. Blocks also don't need support, so they won't break when floating.[1]

        Finally: add number decals

Number decals are flat and can go on any side of a block. Right-click a placed decal to cycle through the numbers 0-9. Their rotation adjusts automatically to the way they face. In this pack each craft gives you 8 decals.[1][3]

        Recipe id: decorz:number_black_decal

Makes 8 Black Number Decals per craft.

If you build with Building Gadgets, the blocks support rotation and mirroring, so they fit into that workflow.[1]

        How does BetterBlockZ: DecorZ work?

        6 parts

BetterBlockZ: DecorZ is a decorative add-on that adds custom-modeled blocks, and its main family is the Cyber Lights: full-bright fixtures you build with. What matters here is how they place and connect, so that's what this section covers.[1]

Modular blocks: panel, cut panel and strip

The panel, cut panel and strip are the modular pieces. Place them side by side and they form a seamless custom light layout. If you want a separate layout right next to an existing one, sneak-place the block to start a separate connection network.[1]

Each of these drops itself when broken. Their loot tables are a single roll of the block's own item, gated by the survives-explosion condition. For example, Black Cyber Light Panel and Black Cyber Light Cut Panel work this way.[4][5][6]

Multi-face stacking: plate, cover, flat lamp and hexagon lamp

The plate, cover, flat lamp and hexagon lamp can share a block space. Up to 6 can occupy a single block space, and they go on the floor, the ceiling and all four walls.[1]

The loot tables back this up. Each of these blocks has one drop entry per face (up, down, north, south, east, west), and each face that is occupied gives one item. Breaking a block with several faces filled therefore returns one item per face. Examples are Black Cyber Light Plate, Black Cyber Light Cover, Black Cyber Light Flat Lamp and Black Cyber Light Hexagon Lamp. The blue cover's table follows the same pattern.[7][8][9][10][11]

Omni-directional blocks: lantern and quad lantern

The lantern and quad lantern attach to floors, walls and ceilings. Like the modular pieces, they drop themselves when broken. See Black Cyber Light Lantern and Black Cyber Light Quad Lantern.[1][12][13]

        Number decals

Number decals are flat and can be placed on all sides of a block. Right-click one to cycle through the numbers 0-9. The placement rotation adjusts automatically based on the way you are facing.[1]

        Building support

        • The blocks need no support, so they will not break when floating.[1]
        • They support rotation and mirroring, which makes them easier to use with tools like Building Gadgets.[1]

Getting the blocks in this pack

The pack has 33 shaped crafting recipes and 128 stonecutting recipes for this mod, each with a different result. Panels are the crafted ones: a craft gives 6 panels, and the other shapes are made at the stonecutter.[3]

        Crafting Shaped

        6 × Cyber Light Black Blockz 0

        Recipe id: decorz:cyber_light_black_panel

Black panels come out 6 at a time, and the other panel colours follow the same pattern.

        Stonecutting

          Recipe id: decorz:cyber_light_black_cut_panel_from_stonecutter

Cut panels, like the other shapes, come from the stonecutter.

How do you progress through BetterBlockZ: DecorZ?

          4 parts

BetterBlockZ: DecorZ is a decoration mod, and the sources here show no tier ladder for it. What they do show is a simple crafting flow: you make coloured base pieces in the crafting grid, then reshape them at a stonecutter.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter involving this mod, so there is no quest-driven order to follow. Any detail about quests would live in the pack's quest book, which these sources do not show.

          Stage 1: coloured panels

The starting point is the Cyber Light Panel, such as the Black Cyber Light Panel and Blue Cyber Light Panel. Each shaped crafting recipe gives you 6 panels per craft, and there is a panel recipe for each colour from black through to yellow.[3]

          Crafting Shaped

          6 × Cyber Light Black Blockz 0

          Recipe id: decorz:cyber_light_black_panel

One craft makes 6 panels. Other colours follow the same pattern with their own recipe.

          Stage 2: stonecutter shapes

The other Cyber Light pieces come from the stonecutter. For a colour like black, that means the Black Cyber Light Cover, Black Cyber Light Cut Panel, Black Cyber Light Flat Lamp, Black Cyber Light Hexagon Lamp, Black Cyber Light Lantern, Black Cyber Light Plate, Black Cyber Light Quad Lantern and Black Cyber Light Strip.[3]

In total the pack has 128 stonecutting recipes for this mod, each making a different result. The recipe data here lists no item inputs for them.[3]

            Recipe id: decorz:cyber_light_black_cover_from_stonecutter

A stonecutter recipe. The other shapes and colours work the same way.

            Extras: decals and light plates

A few more crafted items sit outside the stonecutter line. Number decals such as the Black Number Decal come 8 per craft, and the Transparent Light Plate also comes 8 per craft.[3]

            Picking pieces back up

The Black Cyber Light Cover and Black Cyber Light Flat Lamp can sit on several faces of one block, and their loot tables give back one item for each face that is set. The cut panel, lantern, panel and quad lantern drop themselves, as long as they survive an explosion.[4][5][7][8][12][13]

What changed in BetterBlockZ: DecorZ between versions?

            1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships BetterBlockZ: DecorZ version 0.1.1-26.1.2-neoforge. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so this is not a new addition in 1.1.0.[2]

            Version 0.1.1

This is the release the pack uses, and it is the one the mod's changelog covers. Here is what changed:[2][14]

            • Fixed wall connections on the Cyber Light Strip.[14]
            • Cyber Light Panels and Strip can now be placed on non-full blocks, so you have more freedom when decorating.[14]
            • Added a Brazilian Portuguese (pt_br) translation.[14]
            • Updated to NeoForge 26.1.2.93.[14]
