What is Architectural Building Wand?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide
Architectural Building Wand is a building tool for survival. You use a simple drag and drop mechanic: select points and the wand places blocks, builds walls and fills areas for you, so you skip the tedious manual placement. You can build and erase this way, and it can make rectangles, cylinders and triangles.[1]
This pack ships version 1.2.1 of the mod. It has been in the pack since FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]
The two wands
- The Redstone Wand is the starter wand, meant for early game progression. It supports Unbreaking, Mending and Silk Touch.[1]
- The Arcane Wand is the advanced one. It runs on Mana instead of durability and only supports Silk Touch.[1]
- The Arcane Well is the station you use to recharge your Arcane Wand's Mana.[1]
Planner mode and the Planner Totem
The Planner Totem creates a zone where you can fly and plan builds with ghost blocks. Everything you do inside is purely visual and does not touch your survival world. As soon as you leave the Totem's range, you lose flight and the ghost building features.[1]
The Totem has no crafting recipe. A server OP gets and places it through the Planner menu, which opens with the V key. Only one Totem can be active in the world, and it can be upgraded to expand its area. On multiplayer servers you need OP privileges to place and activate it.[1]

How do you get started with Architectural Building Wand?
5 parts
Architectural Building Wand gives you drag-and-drop building: you pick points, and the wand fills in rectangles, cylinders or triangles for you. It comes with two wands, and the sensible path is to make them in order, starting with the cheap one.[1]
Step 1: the Redstone Architect's Wand
Start with the Redstone Architect's Wand. It is the starter wand, meant for early game progression, and it runs on normal durability. That means you can put Unbreaking, Mending and Silk Touch on it.[1][3]

The starter wand. Build with this one first.
Once you hold a wand, the tooltip lists the shape modes: Box Fill, Box Hollow, Box Walls, Circle Fill, Circle Hollow, Triangle Fill and Triangle Hollow. The hint line shows the main keys: V for templates, B for planner, X for surface/wall and R for the eraser. Shift + Scroll rotates the block you are holding. You can change every key in Options, Controls, Key Bindings.[1][3]
Step 2: the Arcane Well
Next, build the Arcane Well, called the Arcane Well in game. It charges the Arcane Wand and brews Arcane Magic Bottles, so you want it before the advanced wand.[1][3]

Step 3: the Arcane Architect's Wand
The Arcane Architect's Wand is the advanced wand. It runs on arcane mana instead of durability, and you refill that mana at the Arcane Well. It only supports Silk Touch as an enchantment.[1][3]

The well has several states on its screen: CHARGING when it is refilling a wand, FILLING when it is working on a bottle, and COLLECT BOTTLE when the output is full and waiting for you.[3]
Step 4: Arcane Magic Bottles
The Arcane Magic Bottle is brewed from a Glass Bottle in an Arcane Well. This recipe is a special arcane infusion type rather than a normal crafting table recipe, so you make it in the well.[3][4]

Step 5: the Arcane Totem
The Arcane Totem stores Arcane Magic and enables slow flight in its range. It needs the Arcane Totem Jewel, which is a crafting component for the totem, so make the jewel first.[3]

How does Architectural Building Wand work?
5 parts
Architectural Building Wand is a building tool mod, so there are no machines or pipes to wire up here. The systems that matter are the two wands, the Arcane Well that charges one of them, and the totems that control flight and planning. You build by dragging out a shape instead of placing blocks one at a time.[1][3]
The two wands
The mod has two wands. The Redstone Architect's Wand is the early game starter and runs on durability. The Arcane Architect's Wand is the advanced one and runs on arcane mana, which you refill at the Arcane Well.[1][3]
Enchantments differ too. The Redstone Wand supports Unbreaking, Mending and Silk Touch, while the Arcane Wand only supports Silk Touch.[1]

Shapes and controls
Building is drag and drop: you select points to build or erase. The wand tooltip lists these shape modes:[1][3]
- Box Fill, Box Hollow and Box Walls[3]
- Circle Fill and Circle Hollow[3]
- Triangle Fill and Triangle Hollow[3]
The wand's built-in hint line gives the default keys: V opens Templates, B toggles Planner mode, X switches Surface/Wall, and R toggles the Eraser. Shift + Scroll rotates the block you are holding. Scrolling while you build changes the wall or shape axis before you release the click to confirm. You can rebind everything in Options, Controls, Key Bindings.[1][3]
Arcane Well
The Arcane Well (shown in game as the Arcane Well) does two jobs: it charges the Arcane Wand and it brews Arcane Magic Bottle items. The bottle is brewed from a Glass Bottle placed in the well.[3]
The well's screen shows what it is doing. CHARGING means it is refilling a wand, FILLING means it is working on a bottle, and IDLE means nothing is happening. You will also see EMPTY, MAGIC and FULL for the bottle state, and COLLECT BOTTLE when the output is ready to take out.[3]

The well drops itself when broken, so you can pick it up and move it.[5]
Arcane Totem
The Arcane Totem stores Arcane Magic and enables slow flight within its range. If your wand's arcane gems run empty, the game tells you to recharge at a charged Arcane Totem. The Arcane Totem Jewel is a crafting component for the totem.[3]

Totem zones cannot overlap. If an Arcane Totem's range conflicts with a Planner Totem, you lose flight until you break one of the two.[3]
Planner Totem and ghost blocks
The Planner Totem creates a zone where you can fly and plan builds with ghost blocks. Everything inside is purely visual and does not touch your survival world. Once you leave the totem's range, you lose flight and the ghost building features.[1]
It has no crafting recipe. You get it in Creative, and a placed totem drops when mined. Only one totem can be active in the world, and it can be upgraded to expand its area. On a multiplayer server you need OP privileges to place and activate it. A server OP gets it through the Planner menu, opened with V.[1][3][6]

What changed in Architectural Building Wand between versions?
2 parts
FTB Evolution 2 1.3.1 ships Architectural Building Wand at version 1.3. The pack's mod list says the mod was first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so you have had it for a long time. Below are the changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[8]
Version 1.3 (the version in this pack)
- Reworked Eraser Tool: the wand's Eraser Tool now only removes blocks that were placed with a wand. Your hand-built structures are safe from it.[9]
- New Arcane Totem: a magical totem that assists you with building.[9]
- Planner Totem mob handling: the Planner Totem now only despawns hostile mobs within its area and leaves other mobs unaffected.[9]
- Refined models and visuals: the mod's models were updated, 3D wand models were added, and the visuals were polished.[9]
- JEI recipe support: recipes now show up through Just Enough Items (JEI).[9]
- Fixes and improvements: compatibility issues and various bugs were fixed, and the overall user experience was improved.[9]
Version 1.2.1
- Arcane Well server fix: the Arcane Well was not working properly on multiplayer servers, and that is fixed.[10]
- Loader version compatibility: fixed compatibility issues with newer loader versions that were previously unsupported.[10]
