What is Apothic Enchanting?

This pack ships Apothic Enchanting at version 2.1.0, and it is the version you get in this release of the pack. It was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]

How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?

5 parts

Apothic Enchanting is all about the enchanting table and the bookshelves around it. The mod's own advancements start with one simple goal: obtain an enchanting table and begin to unveil the mystery. So that's where you start too.[2]

Pick your enchanting table

The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, so it's a nice-looking table to set up first.[2]

Build bookshelves

Next, surround your table with shelves. The Basic Bookshelf is the simplest one to craft.[3]

Reach the Endshelf

The mod's advancement for the Endshelf asks you to acquire Infused Dragon's Breath and then create an Endshelf. Infused Dragon's Breath has an infusion recipe, shown first below, followed by the Endshelf recipe.[2][3]

    Deepshelves and infusion

The Dormant Deepshelf can be crafted, and there is an advancement for activating one. Some shelves, such as the Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf, come from Infusion Enchanting instead of the crafting grid. Their infusion recipes are below.[2][3]

        Goals to aim for

Once your setup is running, the mod's advancements give you targets: enchant an item at level 30, then 60, 80 and finally 100. Others ask you to enchant at set percentages of Quanta or Arcana, so you will meet those stats along the way.[2]

        How does Apothic Enchanting work?

        6 parts

Apothic Enchanting is built around the enchanting table, the bookshelves around it and a set of stats that decide what you get. The sources for this pack explain the mechanics only in outline, so this section covers what they confirm: the tables, the stats, how the shelves progress, infusion crafting and the pack's own changes.[2]

        The tables

The Apothic Enchanting Table is described as a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, so treat it as a different look rather than a new machine.[2]

        Stats: Eterna, Arcana and Quanta

The mod's advancements name three core stats: Eterna, Arcana and Quanta. Eterna has a cap, described as the maximum amount of Eterna you can use in an Enchanting Table. The advancements also reward enchanting at 0%, 50% and 100% Quanta, at 50% and 100% Arcana, and with at least 10 of each stat. Others ask for all stats at maximum, or for max stats with Quantic Stability.[2]

There are also advancements for enchanting at level 30, 60, 80 and 100. That tells you the table can go far past the vanilla cap of 30.[2]

        Shelf progression

The shelves are the main way you build up your enchanting setup. The sources do not give the stat values each shelf provides. They do show how the shelves are unlocked and upgraded through the mod's advancements:[2]

The mod also has more specialised shelves, such as the Melonshelf, Stoneshelf, Beeshelf, Geode-Encased Bookshelf of Stability and Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration. The sources only give their names, not what they do.[2]

Watch out: The pack changed the crafting recipes for the Endshelf, Draconic Endshelf, Echoing Deepshelf and Echoing Sculkshelf. Do not rely on mod defaults for these. Check the recipes below.[3]

        Infusion recipes

Several items are made with a dedicated infusion recipe type rather than normal crafting. In this pack that covers the Deepshelf, the Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf, Infused Dragon's Breath, the Ender Lead and Occult Ender Lead, the Tome of Extraction and Tome of Superior Scrapping, and three Music Discs. The Library of Alexandria uses a related recipe type called keep_nbt_infusion. The mod also has an enchantment named Infusion, whose description calls it a placeholder for Enchantment Crafting.[2][3]

              Other enchanting tools

An Altar of the Seas can turn unwanted enchanted items into a new book. An anvil enchanted with Splitting, dropped on an enchanted book, can split the book apart.[2]

              Pack changes to enchantments

The pack's own script removes Miner's Fervor from the minecraft:non_treasure tag and adds it to minecraft:on_random_loot. The mod describes the enchantment as letting you mine very fast, but never instantly.[2][6]

The mod also ships a data map that lists a max_loot_level for six enchantments: Berserker's Fury (1), Boon of the Earth (2), Knowledge of the Ages (1), Life-Mending (1), Miner's Fervor (2) and Scavenger (1).[7]

Unverified Which ores Boon of the Earth can produce is set in the mod's boon loot table files (boon_stone_drops, boon_deepslate_drops, boon_netherrack_drops and others), and the sources here do not show their contents.

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?

              5 parts

Everything in Apothic Enchanting reaches you through one of three recipe types in this pack: a shaped crafting recipe, a shapeless crafting recipe, or an infusion recipe. This page groups the mod by how you make each thing, and each group shows the exact in-pack recipe.[3]

What changed in Apothic Enchanting between versions?

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Apothic Enchanting version 2.1.0. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition in 1.1.0.[1]

Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod that the sources here show, so I can't tell you what changed between pack releases. The sources here also don't include the written contents of the mod's own 2.1.0 changelog, so I'm not listing individual changes from it.
