Apothic Enchanting is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 2.1.0. A huge extension of the Enchanting system (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

Stuck? Why it might not be working

  • Apothic Enchanting: eterna stops short, and every slot says Limited Enchantability
Two separate things cap eterna in All the Mods 10 8.2: your World Tier sets a personal Max Eterna, and each enchanting shelf has its own eterna ceiling, so a wall of one shelf type stalls below 100 whatever your tier. "Limited Enchantability" is a different problem: it means the table had no enchantment to offer that slot, and it is not about the item's enchantability number.

  • Why arcana is not going up
In All the Mods 10 8.2, Apothic Enchanting 1.6.2, arcana has no ceiling of its own. A wall of vanilla bookshelves gives exactly 0. The item in the slot does not add any: that line was removed in 1.6.1, and this pack ships 1.6.2. A Brass Bookshelf config of 0.25 is a maximum of 25 on the 0 to 100 scale, not a multiplier. Arcana changes which enchantments you roll and how many are guaranteed. It does not raise the level.

What is Apothic Enchanting?

This pack includes Apothic Enchanting at version 2.1.0, shipped as the file ApothicEnchanting-26.1.2-2.1.0.jar.[1]

It has been in the pack since FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

How do you get started with Apothic Enchanting?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide

Apothic Enchanting is all about the enchanting table and the bookshelves around it. The mod's own advancements start with one simple goal: obtain an enchanting table and begin to unveil the mystery. So that's where you start too.[2]

Pick your enchanting table

The Apothic Enchanting Table is a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table, so it's a nice-looking table to set up first.[2]

The Enchanting Table of the Raven allows manually customizing the core enchanting stats. It has its own recipe, shown below.[2][3]

Build bookshelves

Next, surround your table with shelves. The Basic Bookshelf is the simplest one to craft.[3]

The Stoneshelf, Hellshelf and Seashelf can all be made at a crafting table too, so you can work through them as you gather materials. Their in-pack recipes are below.[3]

Reach the Endshelf

The mod's advancement for the Endshelf asks you to acquire Infused Dragon's Breath and then create an Endshelf. Infused Dragon's Breath has an infusion recipe, shown first below, followed by the Endshelf recipe.[2][3]

    Deepshelves and infusion

The Dormant Deepshelf can be crafted, and there is an advancement for activating one. Some shelves, such as the Infused Hellshelf and Infused Seashelf, come from Infusion Enchanting instead of the crafting grid. Their infusion recipes are below.[2][3]

        Goals to aim for

Once your setup is running, the mod's advancements give you targets: enchant an item at level 30, then 60, 80 and finally 100. Others ask you to enchant at set percentages of Quanta or Arcana, so you will meet those stats along the way.[2]

        How does Apothic Enchanting work?

        5 parts

Apothic Enchanting is an enchanting overhaul, not a machine mod. The sources for this pack show no power, fluid or item-handling systems for it, so this section covers what they do explain: the enchanting stats, the shelves that feed them, Infusion Enchanting, and the few changes the pack makes.[2]

        Enchanting tables and stats

The Apothic Enchanting Table is only a cosmetic variant of the Enchanting Table. The one that changes how you enchant is the Enchanting Table of the Raven, which lets you manually customize the core enchanting stats.[2]

The Enchanting Table of the Raven recipe as it exists in the pack.

The core stats are Eterna, Arcana and Quanta, and there is also something called Quantic Stability. The mod describes the maximum Eterna you can use in an Enchanting Table as a cap. Its advancements show how the stats are meant to be pushed around.[2]

        • Enchant an item at 0%, 50% or 100% Quanta, or at 50% or 100% Arcana.[2]
        • Enchant an item while having max Eterna and Arcana but 0% Quanta.[2]
        • Enchant an item with max stats and Quantic Stability.[2]
        • Enchant an item while having at least 10 of each stat.[2]
        • Enchant an item at level 30, 60, 80 or 100.[2]

        Shelves

Shelves are the blocks that boost your table. The sources do not list the exact stat values each one gives, but they do show how the main lines progress.[2]

        Infusion Enchanting

Several key items come from recipes of the type apothic_enchanting:infusion rather than normal crafting: the Deepshelf, Infused Hellshelf, Infused Seashelf, Ender Lead, Occult Ender Lead and the three music discs. Infusion also makes 3 Infused Dragon's Breath, 4 Tome of Extraction and 4 Tome of Superior Scrapping per craft.[4]

The Library of Alexandria uses a separate recipe type, apothic_enchanting:keep_nbt_infusion.[4]

          Recipe id: apothic_enchanting:infusion/infused_breath

The pack changes the crafting recipes of four shelves, so do not rely on the mod defaults for them. These are the recipes the pack uses.[4]

The pack also edits enchantment tags for Miner's Fervor, which the mod describes as mining very fast but never instantly. It removes the enchantment from the minecraft:non_treasure tag and adds it to minecraft:on_random_loot.[2][5]

                Handling books

The Altar of the Seas can turn unwanted enchanted items into a new book. There is also an Enchantment Library block. And if you drop an anvil enchanted with Splitting on an enchanted book, it can split the book apart.[2]

How do you progress through Apothic Enchanting?

                5 parts

Same as in the FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 guide

Everything in Apothic Enchanting reaches you through one of three recipe types in this pack: a shaped crafting recipe, a shapeless crafting recipe, or an infusion recipe. This page groups the mod by how you make each thing, and each group shows the exact in-pack recipe.[3]

The table and the plain shelves
