What is Immersive Posts?

3 parts

Immersive Posts is an add-on for Immersive Engineering that lets you build very tall posts. Normally you only get the Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel variants. This mod adds more material choices on top of those and lets you extend the posts upward.[1]

The pack includes version 4.3.0-3 of the mod, built for Minecraft 1.18.2.[2]

How you use it

Grab the Extendable Post and a material of your choice, then right-click with it. You can right-click on the posts themselves afterwards for better visibility. The mod's author also recommends the in-game manual that Immersive Engineering provides if you want more in-depth information.[1]

Post materials

The project page lists the available types in groups by mod version. These are the defaults:[1]

  • Default: Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel.[1]
  • Added in 0.1.0: Nether Brick, Iron, Gold, Copper, Lead, Silver, Nickel, Constantan, Electrum and Uranium.[1]
  • Added in 0.1.3: Concrete and Concrete (Leaded).[1]

Who it's for

If you're building with Immersive Engineering, such as power lines or industrial setups, and want taller posts in a material that fits your build, this is a handy add-on. It's mostly a building and decoration tool.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm where this mod fits in the pack's progression, and they don't show any quests for it. They also don't confirm that every post type listed on the project page is available in the pack's version, so check in-game before you plan a build around a specific material.

How do you get started with Immersive Posts?

3 parts

Immersive Posts is an add-on for ImmersiveEngineering that lets you build very tall posts in more materials than the default Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel. Everything starts with one item, so the first steps are short.[1]

First: craft the Extendable Post

Grab the Extendable Post first. The mod's project page tells you to take this item plus a material of your choice. This pack changed its recipe, so follow the one below and not what you remember from the mod's defaults.[1][3]

This is the pack's changed recipe for the Extendable Post.

The post's tooltip tells you to see the manual for accepted blocks. The ImmersiveEngineering in-game manual is the place to check, and the mod's project page recommends it too.[1][4]

Next: choose a material

With the post in hand, you right-click it with a material of your choice, or right-click the posts themselves afterwards for better visibility. Besides Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel, the mod lists Nether Brick, Iron, Gold, Copper, Lead, Silver, Nickel, Constantan, Electrum and Uranium, plus Concrete and Concrete (Leaded).[1]

This pack has a fence item with its own crafting recipe for each of the metal types. Iron is a simple one to start with:[3]

The other metals follow the same pattern: Copper Fence, Gold Fence, Lead Fence, Silver Fence, Nickel Fence, Constantan Fence, Electrum Fence and Uranium Fence.[3]

Then: rods for the rarer metals

Constantan, electrum, lead and uranium have their own rod items: Constantan Rod, Electrum Rod, Lead Rod and Uranium Rod. Each can be crafted by hand, as shown here for lead:[3]

The pack also adds a rolling recipe for each of these rods. If you already have a rolling setup, you can use it instead of the crafting grid:[3]

The remaining rods have the same pair of recipes, crafting and rolling. Here they are for constantan, electrum and uranium:[3]

Tip: Start with the post, pick a metal, and build upward. For the finer details, the ImmersiveEngineering manual is what the mod's project page points you to.[1]

How does Immersive Posts work?

4 parts

Immersive Posts has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It is a small add-on for Immersive Engineering that lets you build very tall posts out of more materials than the usual Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel. So the core mechanic comes down to one thing: how you build and extend a post.[1]

Building a post

Grab an Extendable Post, pick a material, and right-click with it, either on the base or on the post itself once it's up (the post is easier to see that way). That's the whole loop.[1]

The base's tooltip tells you to see the manual for accepted blocks. The project page also recommends the in-game manual from Immersive Engineering for more in-depth information.[1][4]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own version.

Materials you can use

The mod's default types are Treated Wood, Aluminium and Steel. On top of those it adds Nether Brick, Iron, Gold, Copper, Lead, Silver, Nickel, Constantan, Electrum and Uranium, plus Concrete and Concrete (Leaded).[1]

Metal fences and rods

The mod has a fence item for each of these metals: Iron Fence, Gold Fence, Copper Fence, Lead Fence, Silver Fence, Nickel Fence, Constantan Fence, Electrum Fence and Uranium Fence. Here is the iron one as an example.[3]

The pack also adds a rolling recipe for each of those rods, so you can make them that way too. Here is the lead one.[3]

Tip: If you're automating rods, the rolling recipes are the pack's additions, so use them for lead, uranium, constantan and electrum rods.[3]

For pack tinkerers

The mod's in-game guide says its main models are not intended to be edited, so leave them alone if you're customizing resources.[5]

How do you progress through Immersive Posts?

3 parts

In this pack, each metal has its own fence recipe, so what you can make depends on which metals you have in hand. The recipes don't rank the metals against each other, so I won't invent an order for you.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quest in the pack's quest book that covers Immersive Posts, and the mod does not appear on the ATM Star quest path. Nothing in these sources gates the mod behind a quest, so I can't point you to a quest chapter for it.

Start with the post

The Extendable Post is the starting piece, and the pack has changed its recipe from the mod's default. This is the recipe you'll actually use in this pack:[3]

The fence variants

The pack has a fence recipe for each metal in this list. Which one you make depends on which metal you've got.[3]

Every fence uses the same kind of recipe, a shaped crafting recipe with an ingot and a rod of the same metal. Here's the iron one as an example:[3]

Swap in a different metal's ingot and rod to get its matching fence.

Getting the rods

The constantan, electrum, lead and uranium fences use rods that the mod itself adds: Constantan Rod, Electrum Rod, Lead Rod and Uranium Rod. Here is how the lead one is made:[3]

4× Lead RodMod recipe

Recipe id: immersiveposts:has_lead_rod

Lead is shown here; constantan, electrum and uranium rods follow the same pattern.

The pack also adds a rolling recipe for each of those rods, so you have another route if you'd rather process your ingots that way.[3]

What changed in Immersive Posts between versions?

1 part

There isn't much history to cover here. Gravitas 4.0 ships Immersive Posts 4.3.0-3, and the pack has included the mod since Gravitas 1.8b or earlier.[2]

Immersive Posts 4.3.0-3

The only changelog entry for the version in your pack is "Initial 1.18.2 Port", credited to malte0811. In other words, this build is the mod's first port to Minecraft 1.18.2.[6]

The changelog also lists what this build was compiled against: Forge 1.18.2-40.0.12 and Immersive Engineering 1.18.2-8.0.0-146.[6]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so changes to it between individual Gravitas releases are unverified.
