What is Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw?

Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw is included in this pack as version 1.2-1.18.2-40.2.0, shipped as the file mcw_tfc_furn-1.2-1.18.2-40.2.0.jar. It has been in the pack since this version or earlier.[1]

Unverified The available sources don't describe what the mod adds, who it is best suited for, or where it fits in the pack's progression. There is also no confirmed information about its recipes, configs or quests, or about any link to the ATM Star path. Until that's confirmed, treat the details of its content as unknown rather than assuming how it behaves.

How do you get started with Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw?

3 parts

Every recipe I can see for this mod is a shaped crafting recipe built around TFC wood, so a crafting grid and some logs are all you need to start. Ash and Aspen follow the same pattern, so I'll use Ash as the example. Swap in whichever wood you have logs for.[2]

The recipe dump labels all of these as mod recipes, so none of them is shown as a pack change. The recipe blocks below show them exactly as the pack has them.[2]

Start with the simplest piece

The Ash Covered Desk is the simplest recipe here: its only ingredient is the matching log. That makes it an easy first piece to place.[2]

Work up the table chain

Tables build on each other. The Ash Coffee Table comes first, the Ash Table is made from the coffee table, and the Ash End Table is made from the table. The Ash Glass Table then takes an end table plus any glass.[2]

Add seating and storage

Chairs are made from wood parts of the matching wood. The Ash Chair is a good first seat, and the Ash Modern Chair and Ash Striped Chair list the same ingredients as it does.[2]

Wardrobes and drawers need one of those cabinet parts on top of the logs. The Ash Wardrobe is a good starting point for storage, and the Ash Cupboard Counter is then built from that wardrobe plus a slab.[2]

Tip: Counters work the same way: the Ash Drawer Counter is made from an Ash Drawer and a slab. Craft the base piece first, then upgrade it.[2]

How does Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw work?

3 parts

This section is short on purpose. The only material available for this mod in the pack is its crafting recipes, so there is nothing to explain about machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation. I won't guess at any of that.[2]

What the recipes show

Every recipe visible for this mod is a shaped crafting recipe, and each one is marked as a mod recipe. You make these furniture pieces at a crafting grid, and the visible recipes show no other processing step.[2]

The recipes use TerraFirmaCraft wood. The Ash set is built from Ash Log and the Aspen set from the Aspen log. Ash and Aspen are the only woods visible in the recipes available here.[2]

Furniture built from other furniture

Some pieces are crafted from another piece in the same set. The Ash Table comes from the Ash Coffee Table, the Ash End Table comes from the table, and the Ash Glass Table comes from the end table plus a glass item from the forge glass tag.[2]

Cabinet parts and books

Storage-style pieces such as drawers and wardrobes use Cabinet Door and Cabinet Drawer as ingredients. The bookshelf variants also use a vanilla book. Craft those parts first when you plan a build.[2]

Tip: The recipes visible here are for Ash and Aspen, so the pattern for other woods is not confirmed by these sources.[2]

How do you progress through Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw?

3 parts

There is no quest-driven tier system for this mod. Progression is a crafting chain: simple wooden pieces come first, and the fancier ones use them as ingredients. The recipes I can see cover Ash, Aspen and Blackwood, and each wood follows the same pattern.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path, so the sources here show no quest chapter to follow for its progression.

Starting point: pieces made straight from wood

The entry level is furniture made straight from TFC wood. That covers the Ash Chair, Ash Modern Chair, Ash Striped Chair, Ash Stool Chair, Ash Desk, Ash Modern Desk, Ash Covered Desk, Ash Counter and Ash Coffee Table. The other woods have matching pieces, such as the Aspen Chair and the Blackwood Counter.[2]

Next step: storage that needs Macaw's cabinet parts

Wardrobes and drawers are the next step, and they bring in Macaw's Furnitures parts: the Cabinet Door and the Cabinet Drawer. Doors lead to the Ash Wardrobe, Ash Double Wardrobe and Ash Modern Wardrobe. Drawers lead to the Ash Drawer, Ash Double Drawer, Ash Triple Drawer, Ash Large Drawer and Ash Lower Triple Drawer.[2]

Final step: upgrading what you already built

Tip: Craft in order. Make the basic table or storage piece first, because the later pieces need it as an ingredient. If you want a glass table, you will pass through the coffee table, table and end table along the way.[2]

How does Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw work with other mods?

4 parts

Furniture Compat for TFC/Macaw connects to other mods through its recipes. The pieces are built from TerraFirmaCraft wood, with extra parts from Macaw's furniture mod and a few vanilla or tag-based ingredients.[2]

TFC wood is the base

Most furniture recipes start with a TFC log, for example Ash Log, Aspen Log, Blackwood Log or Chestnut Log. Many designs also want the matching fence or slab of the same wood, such as Ash Fence and Ash Slab. Chairs, for instance, use a log, a fence and a slab together.[2]

Parts from Macaw's furniture

Storage furniture needs a part from Macaw's furniture mod. Here is where each part is used:[2]

Crafting Shaped

This one combines a Macaw part, a vanilla book and a TFC log.

Vanilla and tag-based ingredients

Bookshelf-style pieces need a vanilla Book alongside the TFC log. That includes the plain bookshelf, the bookshelf cupboard, the bookshelf drawer and the lower bookshelf drawer.[2]

The modern desk is the one recipe here that accepts any item from the wooden rods tag (#forge:rods/wooden). The rest of its recipe uses a log and a fence of the same wood. See Ash Modern Desk.[2]

Upgrade chains inside the mod

Some pieces are made from other pieces of the same mod, so you can build up from a basic item:[2]

Tip: Each wood needs its own parts, so check that your log, fence and slab all come from the same tree type before you craft.[2]
