What is Productive Farming?

Productive Farming is part of this pack. The pack ships version 26.1.2-0.12.1 of the mod (file productivefarming-26.1.2-0.12.1.jar), and it has been in the pack since 0.0.23 or earlier.[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show what the mod adds or how its mechanics work, because no in-jar guidebook was found for it. They also do not show any recipes or configs for it, so check in-game before relying on any detail. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Productive Farming?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Productive Farming is built around multiblock farms that harvest crops for you. I can't give you a confirmed, step-by-step crafting order for this pack, so this section sticks to what the pack data shows: how the farm is put together, and the crop and crate recipes you can look up.[2]

Know what a farm needs

The minimum farm size is 3x3, and corners are optional. The inside can be any block your crops need. The farm also needs a Farm Controller to work as a multiblock.[2]

Once it's running, crops planted in the farm are harvested automatically. While they grow, they have a small chance to improve their traits.[2]

Get your first crops

The pack has a crafting recipe for Cantaloupe Seeds, so you can start a crop without waiting on a lucky drop. Here is the in-pack recipe:[3]

  • Cantaloupe Slice

There is also a recipe that makes the Cantaloupe itself.[3]

Crates for storage

Most crops in the mod have two crate recipes. One crafts the crate, and a shapeless unpack recipe turns the crate back into the crop. There are crate recipes for vanilla-style crops too, such as the Carrot Crate. Here is how that one is made:[3]

Upgrades and animals

Farm Controller upgrades can be installed, and you can fit several of the time upgrade. It shortens the time between harvesting attempts, so use it with care. The stability upgrade strips stats from the crops you collect, which works against the trait improvement above.[2]

If you make a farm taller, it can work as a fish farm. Creatures inside its boundaries are bred and slaughtered automatically, and fish produce nutrient-rich water you can pump to a crop farm for faster growth.[2]

Unverified The Farm Controller recipe, the recipes for the other farm blocks and the best order to craft them are not confirmed in the available data. No quests in this pack involve this mod, so check the recipe viewer in-game for those. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Productive Farming work?

5 parts

Productive Farming is mostly a crop mod, so its core mechanics are about how plants carry stats, what they drop, and how you store the harvest. The sources here do not include a guidebook or config files for the mod, so this page covers what the pack's data files and recipe list actually show.[2][4][5]

Crop stats

Crops in this mod carry growth, yield, resistance and mutability stats. When you break a plant such as Agave or Akebia, its loot table copies those stats from the plant onto the item that drops. That means the stats travel with the harvest instead of being lost.[4][6]

A crop item can also have base stat values. The mod's crop traits data map lists Blue Jade Corn with growth 0, mutability 0, resistance 0 and yield 2.[7]

The mod also ships a stat increase chance data map. It gives crops in the stat_crops tag a value of 0.07. The Mystical tier tags then step down from 0.06 for tier 1 to 0.01 for tier 6, in 0.01 steps (0.06, 0.05, 0.04, 0.03, 0.02, 0.01). The sources do not spell out exactly when that chance is rolled, so treat it as a ranking: the higher the tier, the lower the number.[8]

Harvest drops

Agave and Akebia share the same drop layout. Breaking the plant gives you the crop item with its stats attached. A fully grown plant, at age 6, also gets a second drop pool that Fortune can boost, using an extra value of 3 and a probability of 0.5714286. For Agave this applies to the upper half of the plant.[4][6]

Tip: Both Agave and Akebia only roll the Fortune bonus pool at age 6, so let them finish growing before you cut them if you want the extra drops.[4][6]

Stems and growth blocks

Some fruit crops use melon-style stems. The language file lists a stem and an attached stem for Cantaloupe, Honeydew Melon, Kiwi, Goji Berry and several grape types. It also has leaf blocks for Concord, Cotton Candy and Green Grape, Kiwi and Goji Berry. Cantaloupe and its seeds can be crafted from the recipes below.[2][5]

Crates

Most crops have a matching crate for compact storage. A shaped recipe makes the crate, and a shapeless unpack recipe turns one crate back into 9 of the crop. Agave is a good example of the pair.[5]

Crate blocks drop themselves when broken, provided they survive an explosion, so you can pick them up and move them freely. The recipe dump counts 162 shaped and 153 shapeless crafting recipes that make items from this mod, and the crate and unpack recipes make up much of that.[5][9][10]

Processing and other blocks

Black Tea, Dried Luffa and Dried Tobacco each have a smoking recipe, shown below.[5]

The mod also adds a Feeding Trough, whose tooltip says it makes nearby animals breed.[2]

If you want a smoking pipe, the Corn Cob Pipe has its own shaped recipe.[5]

How do you progress through Productive Farming?

        4 parts

The sources I have for this mod show crop data and recipes, but no tier ladder and no quest chain, so this section stays short and sticks to what is confirmed.[4][5][6]

        Crop stats

Crops from Productive Farming carry growth, yield, resistance and mutability stats. When you break a crop such as Agave or Akebia, those stats are copied from the plant onto the item that drops. So the stats you farm are the stats you keep.[4][6]

        Harvesting mature crops

Agave and Akebia count as mature at age 6. A mature plant gives its normal drop plus a second, Fortune-affected drop. That bonus uses a binomial formula with 3 extra and a probability of 0.5714286. An immature plant still drops the crop item, but without the Fortune bonus. For agave, the upper half of the plant is the part that has to be at age 6.[4][6]

        Crates

Crops have matching crates. You craft a crate with a shaped recipe, and a shapeless recipe turns one crate back into 9 of the crop. Breaking a crate drops the crate itself. Here is the agave pair as an example.[5][9][10]

        Agave CrateMod recipe

Unpacking a crate gives 9 Agave.

        Processed items

Black Tea, Dried Luffa and Dried Tobacco each have a smoking recipe in the pack. Corn Cob Pipe is a shaped crafting recipe, and Cantaloupe Seeds and Cantaloupe both have shapeless crafting recipes.[5]

Unverified How crops from this mod are gated or unlocked in this pack is not shown in the sources here. The per-crop data lives in the mod's own data files, and the sources here do not show any quest chapter that covers it.
