What is Macaw's Roofs?
2 parts
Macaw's Roofs is a building mod that lets you put actual roof blocks on your builds instead of faking a roof with stairs. If you build a lot in this pack, it gives you a much nicer way to finish off the top of a house.[1]
What you get
- Roofs, Steep Roofs, Lower Roofs and Top Roofs, so you can shape the slope and the ridge of a building.[1]
- Awnings: the striped awnings come in every color.[1]
- Rain Gutters, which also come in every color and fill up when it is raining.[1]
The mod's own description says it adds "a lot more" than that list, so expect extra roof-related pieces beyond the ones above.[1]
Version in this pack
This pack ships Macaw's Roofs 2.3.2. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 11 0.0.1 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the build toolkit rather than a recent addition.[2]
How do you get started with Macaw's Roofs?
1 part
Macaw's Roofs lets you build roofs with actual roof blocks instead of stacking stairs. The mod includes roofs, steep roofs, lower roofs, awnings, top roofs and rain gutters, so you can start with one wood type and expand from there.[1]
Each wood type has its own set of roof blocks, and the pack's recipes cover Acacia, Bamboo, Birch, Cherry and Crimson, among others. Most woods come in two families, named after the wood and after its planks, for example Acacia Roof and Acacia Planks Roof. I'll use Acacia for the examples, and the same naming pattern shows up for the other woods.[3]
What to make first
- Start with Acacia Roof. It's the plain roof of the set, so it's a good piece to test on a small build.[3]
- Make the matching Acacia Top Roof, which is the top roof piece of the same wood.[3]
- Try the other shapes: Acacia Steep Base Roof (Steep Base Roof) and Acacia Lower Base Roof (Lower Base Roof). Each has a matching top version, Acacia Steep Top Roof (Steep Top Roof) and Acacia Lower Top Roof (Lower Top Roof).[3]
- For a decorative touch, add a striped awning such as Blue Striped Awning. Striped awnings come in each color.[1][3]

How does Macaw's Roofs work?
4 parts
Macaw's Roofs is a building mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power networks or fluid pipes to learn here. The sources describe a set of roof blocks and a couple of small interactive behaviours, and that's what this section covers.[1]
Roof shapes
The mod adds Roofs, Steep Roofs, Lower Roofs, Awnings, Top Roofs and Rain Gutters, so you can build a roof from real roof blocks instead of stairs.[1]
In this pack each wood type comes in several shapes. Acacia, for example, has Acacia Roof, Acacia Steep Base Roof, Acacia Lower Base Roof, Acacia Attic Roof and Acacia Top Roof. It also has the top-section pieces Acacia Lower Top Roof and Acacia Steep Top Roof.[3]
There is also a planks variant of each shape, such as Acacia Planks Roof. Bamboo adds a mosaic set too, for example Bamboo Mosaic Roof.[3]
Toggling top roofs
The mod's hammer has a tooltip that reads: right click on the top roof to toggle between states. Use it on a top roof piece when it isn't connecting the way you want. I can't confirm from the sources exactly which states it cycles through.[4]
Awnings and rain gutters
Striped awnings come in every color, and so do rain gutters. Rain gutters fill up while it is raining, which is the only fluid-like behaviour the sources mention for this mod.[1]
Crafting
Every roof piece listed above is made with a shaped crafting recipe from the mod itself.[3]
Unverified The recipe dump shows no item inputs for these recipes, so the exact ingredients and amounts can't be confirmed here. Check the in-game recipe viewer. There are also no config files for this mod in the pack, so no tunable options are documented. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you progress through Macaw's Roofs?
3 parts
Macaw's Roofs has no tech ladder to climb in this pack. Every recipe in the dump is a shaped crafting recipe from the mod itself, so you can start building as soon as you have the materials.[3]
Roof shapes instead of tiers
The nearest thing to tiers is the set of roof shapes. Each wood type has a plain roof, an attic roof, a lower base roof, a steep base roof, a top roof, a lower top roof and a steep top roof, and each shape also has a matching planks version. Acacia shows the full set: Acacia Roof, Acacia Attic Roof, Acacia Lower Base Roof, Acacia Steep Base Roof, Acacia Top Roof, Acacia Lower Top Roof and Acacia Steep Top Roof.[3]
The wood types in the recipe list I can see are acacia, bamboo, birch, cherry, crimson and dark oak. Bamboo also has mosaic roofs, such as Bamboo Mosaic Roof.[3]

Extras: awnings and gutters
Besides roofs, the mod adds striped awnings in black, blue, brown, cyan, gray and green, for example Blue Striped Awning and Green Striped Awning. It also adds rain gutters: Rain Gutter, Base Rain Gutter, and colored versions in black, blue, brown and cyan, such as Cyan Rain Gutter.[3]

Quests and progression
Unverified The quest sources here do not show any quest chapter for Macaw's Roofs, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path, so the questbook does not guide you through it. Check the pack's quest book yourself if you want to be sure.
