What is Extra Disks?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.43 guide

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. If your Refined Storage network keeps running out of room, this is the mod that gives you more.[1]

The project page says each item disk and fluid disk can hold an infinite amount of its contents. Its own joke is that this should be enough for water and cobblestone.[1]

It's for you if you already use, or plan to use, Refined Storage for your base storage and want to stop managing disk capacity. It adds disks to a system you already have and doesn't replace it.[1]

This pack ships Extra Disks version 1.21.1-4.0.9.[2]

Where it fits in progression

Unverified The sources I have don't show where Extra Disks fits in the pack's progression. There is no in-jar guidebook for the mod, no quests in this pack involve it, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. I can't say what you need to unlock its disks, so check the recipes in-game before you plan around them. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Extra Disks?

3 parts

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. Your first job is to pick a tier and work up from the bottom. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes, so use them as your shopping list.[1][3]

Start with a storage part

Each tier has its own storage part, and the part is the first thing to craft. The lowest item tier in this pack's recipe list is the 256k Storage Part, so that is a good place to begin.[3]

For fluids, the lowest tier in the recipe list is the 16384B Fluid Storage Part.[3]

Turn it into a disk

Each disk has a shaped crafting recipe and a shapeless one in this pack. Here are both for the 256k Storage Disk, so you can use whichever fits the materials you have.[3]

Move up the tiers

Once your first disk is running, you can climb to bigger ones. The pack has upgrade recipes of a special type from this mod, for both disks and storage blocks. Here is the one for the 256k Storage Disk.[3]

Upgrade Recipe (extradisks)

    Recipe id: extradisks:storage_upgrade/256k_item_storage_disk_upgrade

If you would rather have a placed block, the 256k Storage Block has its own crafting recipe.[3]

Tip: The mod's project page says each of its disks can store an infinite amount of items or fluids. That is the mod's general claim, so check the capacity shown on the disk you actually craft.[1]

    How does Extra Disks work?

    4 parts

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. This page covers what the mod adds and how the pieces are crafted in this pack.[1]

    What the mod adds

Each storage tier comes as a disk and as a matching storage block. The item tiers in this pack run from 256k Storage Disk and 1024k Storage Disk up through 4096k Storage Disk, 16384k Storage Disk, 65536k Storage Disk and 262m Storage Disk, and top out at 1048m Storage Disk.[3]

Fluids get their own line of disks, starting at 16384B Fluid Storage Disk, then 65536B Fluid Storage Disk and 262kB Fluid Storage Disk, up to 1048kB Fluid Storage Disk. Each of these has a block version too, for example 1048kB Fluid Storage Block and 1048m Storage Block.[3]

The project page says you can store an infinite amount of items or fluids in each of the corresponding disks, and jokes that this should be enough for water and cobblestone. The sources don't give exact capacity values for each tier, so treat the numbers in the names as labels rather than confirmed limits.[1]

    Chemical storage

The mod's language file also lists chemical storage: disks, parts and blocks in 65536B, 262kB, 1048kB and 8388kB sizes, plus Infinite Chemical Storage Disk, Part and Block versions. It also defines Refined Storage tags that group these by size, such as Large Chemical Disks and Infinite Chemical Disks.[4]

    Crafting

Disks have both shaped and shapeless crafting recipes, and every storage block has its own shaped recipe. The mod also has Advanced Machine Casing and Advanced Storage Housing, each with a shaped recipe of its own. Here are the exact in-pack recipes.[3]

    What the sources don't cover

Unverified The pack has no config file for this mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found, so the sources here do not show how disks are used in a Refined Storage network or whether the pack changed any values.

How do you progress through Extra Disks?

    5 parts

Extra Disks adds larger storage disks and blocks in tiers. In this pack the tiers split into an item line, a fluid line, and an infinite item and fluid tier at the top. No quests in this pack cover the mod, so there is no quest order to follow. Use the tier names and the recipes below as your map.[3]

    The item storage tiers

Each item size comes as a part, a disk and a block. Going up, the disks are 256k Storage Disk, 1024k Storage Disk, 4096k Storage Disk, 16384k Storage Disk, 65536k Storage Disk, 262m Storage Disk and 1048m Storage Disk. The largest sizes use an "m" suffix in their names in the pack.[3]

    The fluid storage tiers

Fluid storage also has a part, a disk and a block for each size. Going up, the disks are 16384B Fluid Storage Disk, 65536B Fluid Storage Disk, 262kB Fluid Storage Disk and 1048kB Fluid Storage Disk. The larger sizes use a "kB" suffix in their names.[3]

    The infinite tier

At the top you'll find Infinite Storage Disk and Infinite Fluid Storage Disk, plus the matching blocks Infinite Storage Block and Infinite Fluid Storage Block. The recipe list for the mod only shows upgrade recipes for these items, with no shaped or shapeless crafting recipes.[3]

How each sized tier is made

The sized tiers follow the same pattern. A storage part has its own shaped recipe. The disk has both a shaped and a shapeless recipe, and the block has its own shaped recipe. Disks and blocks also have upgrade recipes that use a recipe type from the mod. Here is the 256k item tier as an example, and the other sizes follow the same recipe ids.[3]
