What is Explorer's Compass?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Explorer's Compass is a compass that helps you find structures anywhere in the world. Instead of wandering until you stumble on a village or a modded dungeon, you tell the compass what you want and follow it.[1]
This pack includes Explorer's Compass version 1.21.1-3.4.0-neoforge.[2]
What it does
- Right-click with the compass to open a GUI where you pick a structure, or a group of structures, to search for.[1]
- Shift-right-click to reset the compass state.[1]
- Information about your current structure search is shown on the HUD.[1]
- When the compass isn't pointing at a structure, it points at the world spawn.[1]
- It supports all registered structures, both vanilla and modded, so it also works for structures added by the other mods in the pack.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone who wants to find structures without long blind exploring: loot hunters, players tracking down a specific structure, and anyone who wants to head straight to something that modded worldgen has added. If you want to find biomes instead, the mod's author points to a separate mod, Nature's Compass.[1]
Unverified The crafting recipe, the pack's config values and where the compass fits into this pack's progression could not be confirmed from the available sources, so check the in-game recipe viewer for the exact recipe. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with Explorer's Compass?
2 parts
The first thing to make in this pack for exploring is the Explorer's Compass from Explorer's Compass. It locates structures anywhere in the world, vanilla and modded alike, so it saves you a lot of wandering when you are hunting for your first big build to loot.[1]
Craft the compass
The pack adds its own shaped crafting recipe for the compass through KubeJS. This is the one to follow, and the block below shows the exact in-pack recipe.[3]

| Enderium Gear | Recovery Compass | Enderium Gear |

The pack's own shaped recipe for the Explorer's Compass.
The mod also has a separate shapeless recipe in the pack, listed under the id explorerscompass:repair_explorers_compass, which outputs the compass too.[3]

The mod's own shapeless recipe that also outputs the compass.
Using it for the first time
- Right-click with the compass to open its GUI, then pick a structure or a group of structures to search for.[1]
- Watch the HUD: information about your structure search is displayed there, including details on a structure once it is located.[1]
- Follow the needle. When the compass is not pointing at a structure, it points at the world spawn instead.[1]
- Shift-right-click to reset the compass state when you want to start a different search.[1]
How does Explorer's Compass work?
3 parts
Explorer's Compass adds one item, the Explorer's Compass, and it does one job: it finds structures for you. There are no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid systems here, so this section is all about how the compass itself works.[1][4]
Using the compass
- Right-click with the compass to open its GUI. From there you pick a single structure or a group of structures to search for.[1]
- Once a search is running, details about the structure it found show up on your HUD.[1]
- Shift-right-click to reset the compass state when you want to start over or pick something else.[1]
If the compass is not pointing at a structure, it points at the world spawn instead. So a needle aimed at spawn doesn't mean it's broken, it just has no target.[1]
It supports all registered structures, both vanilla and modded. That means structures from the other mods in the pack show up in the same GUI, as long as they are registered as structures and not blacklisted.[1]
Getting one in this pack

The mod also ships its own shapeless crafting recipe for the compass, which is still listed in the pack's recipes.[3]

Recipe id: explorerscompass:repair_explorers_compass

Search radius and blacklist
The mod's project page says you can adjust properties like the maximum search radius and blacklisted structures in its config file.[1]
Unverified The sources here do not show the pack's actual search radius or which structures are blacklisted. The pack has no config file for this mod in the sources, so check the mod's config in your own instance for those values.
How do you progress through Explorer's Compass?
2 parts
There is no tier ladder for Explorer's Compass in this pack. The sources show only the item Explorer's Compass and the recipes that make it.[3]
Crafting the compass
The pack adds its own shaped recipe for the compass, written through KubeJS. Because the pack defines the truth, this is the pack's crafting recipe for the compass.[3]

What changed in Explorer's Compass between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Explorer's Compass 26.1-3.3.0-neoforge. The mod has been in the pack since 0.0.1 or earlier, so it's been with you from the start.[5]
26.1-3.3.0-neoforge
This is the version the pack currently uses. Here is what the mod's own changelog lists for it:[5][6]
- Updated to NeoForge 26.1.[6]
- Added a config option to give the compass durability, plus a recipe to repair a broken compass.[6]
- Fixed the compass HUD info not rendering when any debug elements are set to always-on.[6]
- Fixed structures with the c:hidden_from_locator_selection tag not being hidden.[6]
- Added Ukrainian translations.[6]
- Added Turkish translations.[6]
Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so changes between pack releases, and whether the pack changed any of the mod's defaults, are not documented here. The durability option's name and default value are also not confirmed.
