What is Aquaculture 2?
1 part
Aquaculture 2 is a fishing overhaul. It adds over 30 new fish that you can catch with a rod or find swimming in the wild. Any vanilla or modded rod works for catching them.[1]
The fish are biome-specific. Freshwater, arid, arctic ocean, saltwater, jungle, swamp and mushroom island biomes each have their own species, and modded biomes get fish too. That means rivers, ponds and oceans end up with fish mobs swimming around in them.[1]
What else it adds
- New rods that let you equip hooks and bait for extra functionality.[1]
- Customizable fishing line and bobbers, so you can tune your rod.[1]
- A Tackle Box, where you apply modifiers and customization items. It also stores extra hooks, bait, line and bobbers.[1]
- Fish fillets. The amount you get depends on the fish, or on its weight if that config option is enabled.[1]
- Extra fishing loot such as driftwood, a tin can, a goldfish, a message in a bottle, a box, a lockbox and a treasure chest. The fabled Neptunium tools and armor can also drop, and this is configurable.[1]
This is a good fit if you like a relaxed, collection-style side activity: hunting down every biome's fish, then building a rod setup around hooks, bait, line and bobbers. You don't need it to progress, so you can pick it up whenever fishing sounds fun.[1]
The pack ships Aquaculture 2 version 2.9.2.[2]
Unverified The sources don't show whether the pack changed any of this mod's recipes, configs or drop values, nor where it sits in the pack's progression, so check in game before relying on default values from the mod page. No ATM Star path or quest information for this mod was confirmed.
How do you get started with Aquaculture 2?
6 parts
Aquaculture 2 is all about fishing. It adds over 30 new fish, and you can catch them with any rod, vanilla or modded, so you can start fishing right away. The steps below are a suggested order for getting more out of the mod.[1]
Catch some fish
Fish are biome-specific, and that includes modded biomes. Freshwater fish like Carp and Catfish turn up in rivers and ponds, while Tuna and Red Grouper are saltwater fish. Fishing can also drop extra loot, including Neptune's Bounty, and Neptunium tools and armor are a configurable drop.[1]
Turn fish into fillets and cook them
Fish can be turned into fish fillets, and how many you get depends on the fish. This pack has fillet knives from the Wooden Fillet Knife up to the Neptunium Fillet Knife, which increases the amount of fillets you get.[1][3][4]

Build a proper rod and a Tackle Box
Aquaculture's own rods let you equip hooks and bait. The pack has recipes for the Iron Fishing Rod, Golden Fishing Rod and Diamond Fishing Rod.[1][3]

Add a hook
The Iron Hook has a 20% chance to not use durability. The Diamond Hook raises that to 50%, so it is worth aiming for later.[3][4]
This is the in-pack recipe for the Iron Hook.
Some hooks add other effects. The Double Hook gives a chance to catch two things, the Note Hook plays an alert when a fish is approaching, and the Redstone Hook gives you longer to reel a fish in.[3][4]
Customize with line and bobber
You can also craft Fishing Line and a Bobber to customize your rod further.[1][3]

Looking ahead: Neptunium
The pack has several recipes for Neptunium Ingot, and a Productive Bees centrifuge recipe that outputs Neptunium Nugget and Wax. Here are two of the ingot recipes.[3]

The Neptunium Fishing Rod makes fish more likely to bite, and the Neptunium Chestplate lets you breathe underwater.[3][4]
How does Aquaculture 2 work?
4 parts
Aquaculture 2 has no power, fluid or multiblock machinery. Everything revolves around fishing gear you build up and customize. The mod adds over 30 new fish, and they are spread across biome types, including modded biomes.[1]
Rods, hooks and the Tackle Box
You can catch the new fish with any vanilla or modded rod. The mod's own rods go further, because they let you equip hooks and bait for extra functionality. Custom line and bobbers are there to make your rod your own.[1]
Modifiers and customization items are applied in the Tackle Box. It also stores spare hooks, bait, line and bobbers. Here is how it is crafted:[1][3]

The mod's rods include the Iron Fishing Rod, the Golden Fishing Rod, the Diamond Fishing Rod and the Neptunium Fishing Rod. The Neptunium one makes fish more likely to bite. The sources don't spell out the differences between the other rods, so I won't guess at them.[3][4]
Line and bobbers are craftable parts you add in the Tackle Box:[1][3]

What each hook does
The hook is where most of the tuning happens. These are the effects the in-game tooltips describe:[4]
- Iron Hook: 20% chance to not use durability.[3][4]
- Diamond Hook: 50% chance to not use durability.[3][4]
- Nether Star Hook: 50% chance to not use durability and increased luck.[3][4]
- Double Hook: a chance to catch two things.[3][4]
- Note Hook: plays an alert when a fish is approaching.[3][4]
- Redstone Hook: increases how long you have to reel in a fish.[3][4]
The pack also has recipes for the Gold Hook, Heavy Hook and Light Hook. The sources I have don't describe what these hooks do.[3]
Fillets and food
Fish you catch can be turned into fish fillets. The number of fillets depends on the fish, or on its weight if that config option is enabled.[1]
Fillet knives come in several tiers: wooden, stone, iron, gold, diamond and Neptunium. The Neptunium Fillet Knife increases the amount of fillets you get.[3][4]
Here is how you get Cooked Fish Fillet:[3]
The mod also adds Sushi and Turtle Soup:[3]
Neptunium gear
Neptunium tools and armor can turn up as loot while fishing, and that is configurable. Neptune's Bounty is another fishing drop. Here is how to craft the Neptunium Ingot, Neptunium Nugget, Neptunium Block and Neptune's Bounty:[1][3]
Crafting Shaped
9 × Neptunium Nugget
Recipe id: aquaculture:neptunium_ingot_from_nuggets
Crafting Shaped
8 × any neptunium ingot
Recipe id: aquaculture:neptunes_bounty
Each piece of Neptunium gear has its own underwater perk, according to the in-game tooltips:[3][4]
- Neptunium Helmet: improves your underwater vision.[3][4]
- Neptunium Chestplate: lets you breathe underwater.[3][4]
- Neptunium Leggings: makes you weightless underwater.[3][4]
- Neptunium Boots: increases your swim speed.[3][4]
- Neptunium Pickaxe and Neptunium Shovel: usable without a speed penalty underwater.[3][4]
- Neptunium Sword and Neptunium Axe: increase damage against enemies underwater.[3][4]
- Neptunium Bow: makes arrows go smoothly through water.[3][4]
- Neptunium Hoe: tilled farmland stays moist.[3][4]
Unverified Whether fillet amounts use fish weight, and how often Neptunium gear drops while fishing, are both configurable in the mod's config. The sources here do not include this pack's config files, so the pack's values for these options are not shown.
How do you progress through Aquaculture 2?
6 parts
Aquaculture 2 in this pack is a set of material tiers you climb through crafting. The recipe data shows the tiers for rods, fillet knives and hooks, plus a Neptunium top end with its own ingot, tools and armor.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest for Aquaculture 2, so there is no quest-book order to follow. If you want to check, look through the pack's quest chapters in-game.
Fishing rods
You can craft rods in these materials: Iron Fishing Rod, Golden Fishing Rod, Diamond Fishing Rod and Neptunium Fishing Rod.[3]

Hooks, line and bobber
Hooks have their own recipes: Light Hook, Heavy Hook, Double Hook, Iron Hook, Gold Hook, Diamond Hook, Redstone Hook, Note Hook and Nether Star Hook. The Double Hook, Note Hook and Nether Star Hook are shapeless recipes, and the other hooks are shaped.[3]
The Fishing Line and Bobber are crafted with shaped recipes too.[3]

Getting Neptunium
The pack gives you several routes to the Neptunium Ingot: blasting, crafting from nuggets, or crafting it back out of a Neptunium Block.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

The Neptunium Nugget has a shapeless crafting recipe. Productive Bees also has a centrifuge recipe that outputs a Neptunium Nugget along with Wax, which gives you a bee-based route if you already run bees.[3]
Centrifuge (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/aquaculture/honeycomb_neptunium
What Neptunium unlocks
Neptunium has a full armor set: Neptunium Helmet, Neptunium Chestplate, Neptunium Leggings and Neptunium Boots. On the tool and weapon side you get the Neptunium Sword, Neptunium Pickaxe, Neptunium Axe, Neptunium Shovel, Neptunium Hoe and Neptunium Bow.[3]
Extras along the way
A few utility items are craftable as well: the Tackle Box, Worm Farm, Fish Mount and Neptune's Bounty. All of these are shaped recipes.[3]
For food, Sushi and Turtle Soup are shapeless recipes. Cooked Fish Fillet can be made by smelting, in a smoker, or over a campfire.[3]
How does Aquaculture 2 work with other mods?
The one in-pack link to another mod that the recipes confirm is with Productive Bees. A Productive Bees centrifuge recipe outputs Neptunium Nugget together with Wax.[3]
Centrifuge (productivebees)
Recipe id: productivebees:centrifuge/aquaculture/honeycomb_neptunium
A Productive Bees centrifuge recipe that outputs a Neptunium Nugget and Wax.
On the Aquaculture 2 side, fishing can also give you Neptunium tools or armor as loot, and that drop is configurable. The centrifuge recipe above is a separate source of Neptunium in the form of a nugget.[1][3]
Which Aquaculture 2 config options matter?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.60 guide
I can't show you the exact config values this pack uses for Aquaculture 2, because the pack's config files for this mod weren't available to me. So I can't tell you which options the pack changed from the mod defaults, and I won't guess.[1]
The mod's project page does point to two things that can be configured. The number of fish fillets you get from a fish normally depends on the fish type, but it can depend on the fish's weight if that config option is enabled.[1]
The second is the fabled Neptunium tools and armor, which you can get as fishing loot. The project page says this loot is configurable.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack enables weight-based fillet amounts, and whether it changes the Neptunium loot settings, is unconfirmed. The option names and values are also unconfirmed. Check the mod's config file in your own instance before you rely on either behavior.
What changed in Aquaculture 2 between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Aquaculture 2 version 2.9.2. The mod has been in the pack since 0.0.1 or earlier, so it's an original member rather than a late addition.[2]
Mod changelog highlights
- 2.9.1: JEI support was re-added, so you can look up the mod's items and recipes in JEI again.[5]
- 2.9.2: Fixed issues with the Fishing Reel. This is the version the pack currently uses.[2][6]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there's nothing pack-specific to report here. The mod's own changelogs above are the only version notes available.[2]
