What is YUNG's Extras?

3 parts

YUNG's Extras is a collection of small vanilla+ upgrades: extra structures and features that are each too small to be their own mod. Together they work as a finishing touch for the world. It is meant to be the cherry on top of a modpack, and it is described as very lightweight with minimal performance impact.[1]

What you'll find in the world

  • Desert Decorations: new and improved Desert Wells, including rare Wishing Wells that may have some treasure at the bottom, plus Desert Obelisks and Flame Outposts.[1]
  • Swamp Structures: lots of ruins, ancient pillars, and a few very rare easter egg structures.[1]

The project page describes the Swamp Structures as the most recent release and Desert Decorations as the initial one, and says more content updates are planned. It doesn't say which of these are in the pack's exact build, so treat that list as the mod's general content.[1]

Who it's for

This one is for explorers. You don't craft anything with it or set up a machine. You just come across its structures while you travel, and they make the overworld feel less empty. The mod is designed to be compatible with worldgen mods, including the YUNG's Better Desert Temples, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Mineshafts, Better Strongholds, Witch Huts and Bridges mods.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships YUNG's Extras 1.21.1-NeoForge-5.1.1. It was already included by version 2.25 of the pack or earlier.[2]

Unverified The sources don't show any quests, ATM Star path steps or in-jar guidebook for this mod, so there is nothing confirmed about where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat it as optional worldgen flavor.

How do you get started with YUNG's Extras?

3 parts

Here's the honest starting point: YUNG's Extras is mostly about things you find in the world, not things you craft. The project page describes it as a collection of structures, features and vanilla+ upgrades that finish off a modpack. So there's no crafting order to follow first.[1]

What to do first: explore

The best first step is to go exploring and look for the structures the mod adds. The project page lists these as the main content so far.[1]

  • Desert content: new and improved desert wells, desert obelisks and flame outposts.[1]
  • Wishing wells: a rare desert well variant that may have some treasure at the bottom, so check any unusual well you come across.[1]
  • Swamp structures: lots of ruins and ancient pillars, plus a few very rare easter egg structures.[1]
Tip: The mod is described as very lightweight with minimal performance impact, so you don't need to worry about it slowing your game while you explore.[1]

Works alongside other worldgen mods

The mod is intended to be fully compatible with every worldgen mod. The project page names YUNG's Better Desert Temples, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Mineshafts, Better Strongholds, Witch Huts and Bridges as examples. If you see those structures in your world, they sit happily alongside the extras.[1]

What I can't confirm for this pack

Unverified I couldn't confirm any crafting recipes, quests, config options or item descriptions for this mod in this pack, so there are no recipes to show here. How common each structure is in this pack, and what loot you'll find, is also unverified.

How does YUNG's Extras work?

1 part

Here's the short version: YUNG's Extras isn't a machine mod. The project page describes it as a collection of structures, features and vanilla+ upgrades that are each too small for their own mod, but together make a nice finishing touch for a modpack.[1]

Its content is mostly things you find out in the world. The desert content includes new and improved Desert Wells, rare Wishing Wells that may have some treasure at the bottom, Desert Obelisks and Flame Outposts. The swamp content includes lots of ruins, Ancient Pillars and a few very rare easter egg structures.[1]

Working alongside other worldgen mods

The mod is intended to be fully compatible with every worldgen mod. The page names YUNG's Better Desert Temples, Better Ocean Monuments, Better Mineshafts, Better Strongholds, Witch Huts and Bridges as examples. It's also described as very lightweight, with minimal performance impact.[1]

Tip: Since this is all worldgen and vanilla+ content, the way to experience it is to explore. Head into deserts and swamps and keep an eye out for wells, obelisks, outposts, ruins and pillars.[1]

Unverified The available sources don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling, or automation for YUNG's Extras. No in-jar guidebook, lang descriptions, config files or recipes were available for this mod in the pack, so any detail beyond the structures and features above is unconfirmed.

What changed in YUNG's Extras between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships YUNG's Extras 1.21.1-NeoForge-5.1.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 1.0 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[2]

Mod changelog highlights

  • 5.1.0: The mod was ported to 1.21.1. Spawn rates for all swamp structures were drastically reduced, and all structure NBT files were updated.[3]
  • 5.1.1: Minimum version requirements were lowered so the mod works on both 1.21 and 1.21.1. This is the version in the pack.[2][4]

If you've noticed swamp structures feeling rarer than you'd expect, the 5.1.0 spawn rate reduction is the change that applies. It comes from the mod's own changelog, and I can't tell you the exact new values from the sources.[3]
