What is Waystones?
2 parts
Waystones is all about getting around your world fast. You place and activate waystone blocks, and once a waystone is activated you can return to it whenever you want, which saves you long treks back to base.[1]
All the Mods 10 5.4 ships Waystones version 21.1.24, and the mod has been in the pack since at least version 2.25, so it's a long-standing part of the ATM10 toolkit.[2]
What you get
- Craftable Waystones, Warp Plates and Warp Scrolls.[1]
- Teleporting from one activated waystone to another by using an existing waystone.[1]
- Warping with a one-use Warp Scroll or a rechargeable Warp Stone, so you can travel even when you're not standing at a waystone.[1]
- Global waystones that are available to every player, which work well for community hubs or sharing spots with friends.[1]
- An optional teleport button in your inventory that lets you warp without any extra items, if it's switched on in the config.[1]
- Waystone structures that can generate in villages.[1]
Who it's for
Waystones works in regular Survival, in adventure maps and on multiplayer servers. On a server, it's a handy alternative to commands like /warp and /home. If you're playing with friends, a global waystone at your shared base gives everyone a common spawn-in point.[1]
Unverified The pack settings for the inventory teleport button and for village waystone generation aren't shown in the available sources. Check them in-game before you rely on either one.
Unverified Waystones isn't part of the ATM Star quest path, and no quests in this pack use it. That means you can pick it up at whatever point it helps your playthrough.
How do you get started with Waystones?
4 parts
Waystones lets you set up a teleport network across your world. Once you activate a waystone, you can come back to it later with a Warp Scroll, a rechargeable Warp Stone, or by hopping from one waystone to another. It's a great survival alternative to /home and /warp commands, and waystones can even be made global so everyone on a server can use them.[1]
Step 1: Craft a Warp Stone
Your first real goal is the Warp Stone. It's the key component of the mod: every waystone, sharestone and portstone in this pack is crafted with one. It's also a handheld teleporter. Hold right-click to charge it up and warp.[1][3][4]

Step 2: Place your first Waystone
Next, turn a Warp Stone into a Waystone and put it at your base. That gives you a permanent point to return to from anywhere. Build a second one somewhere you visit often, and you can travel between them.[1][4]

If you want a different look, there are decorative versions too: the Mossy Waystone, Sandy Waystone, Deepslate Waystone, Black Waystone and Ender Waystone. You can also turn a regular Waystone into a Mossy Waystone later instead of crafting one from scratch.[4]
Upgrade an existing Waystone to the mossy style
Step 3: Make some scrolls
Scrolls are cheap teleport items you can carry with you. A Blank Scroll can be used on a waystone to bind it. The Warp Scroll lets you return to your activated waystones without needing a Warp Stone. To use a scroll, hold right-click to charge it up.[1][3][4]

Later on: Sharestones and Warp Plates
- Sharestones come in dye colors, and each one teleports you to any other sharestone of the same color, like a Blue Sharestone linking to other Blue Sharestones.[3][4]
- Portstones also come in dye colors, starting with the plain Portstone, and they're crafted from a Warp Stone as well.[4]
- The Warp Plate works differently. Instead of holding right-click, you stand on top of it to teleport. It's built from Warp Dust and a Dormant Shard, so craft the dust first.[3][4]

Recipe id: waystones:warp_plate
Warp plates use shards to link up. The shard tooltips tell you to insert the shard into a warp plate, then bring it to another warp plate.[3]
Unverified This pack's settings for teleport XP costs, cooldowns, the optional inventory teleport button and village waystone generation could not be confirmed, so check in-game how these behave. It's also unconfirmed exactly how a Dormant Shard becomes the attuned shard used by warp plates, and what the Return Scroll and Deepslate Shard do.
How does Waystones work?
7 parts
Waystones is all about getting around your world fast. You find or craft waystone blocks and activate them. Once a waystone is activated, you can return to it by hopping from another waystone, reading a Warp Scroll or using the rechargeable Warp Stone. On a server it works as a friendly replacement for the /warp and /home commands.[1]
All the ways to teleport
- Waystone to waystone: use any waystone to jump to another one you've already activated.[1]
- Warp Stone: hold right-click with a Warp Stone to charge it up. In this pack the charge-up takes 32 ticks, set by general.warpStoneUseTime. The Warp Stone is rechargeable, so you can use it again and again.[1][5]
- Scrolls: a scroll also charges up while you hold right-click. In this pack that takes 32 ticks, set by general.scrollUseTime.[5]
- Blank Scroll: use a Blank Scroll on a waystone to bind it to that waystone.[3]
- Warp plates: stand on top of a warp plate to use it. In this pack you need to stay on it for 15 ticks, set by general.warpPlateUseTime.[5]
- Inventory button: inventoryButton.inventoryButton can add a button to your inventory. Depending on the setting, it teleports you to the nearest waystone, opens the waystone selection menu or sends you to one specifically named waystone. This pack leaves the option empty.[3][5]
Unverified The sources don't say what an empty inventory button setting does, so it is unconfirmed whether the inventory button shows up by default in this pack.

Warp plates and shards
Warp plates use shards instead of a menu. A shard's tooltip tells you what to do with it next, so read it at each step.[3]
- Craft a Dormant Shard and insert it into a warp plate to attune it.[3][4]
- Once the shard is attuned, its tooltip tells you to bring it to another warp plate and insert it there.[3]
- Stand on the plate to warp. Teleports that start from a warp plate have their XP cost multiplied by 0 in this pack's warp rules.[5]
The Deepslate Shard has a different job: insert it into a warp plate to lock that plate.[3]
Unverified The sources don't explain what makes an attuned shard start crumbling or lose its attunement. They also don't say exactly what a locked warp plate can and can't do.
Sharestones and portstones
Sharestones are colour-coded teleport networks. A Blue Sharestone teleports you to any other Blue Sharestone, a Lime Sharestone to any other Lime Sharestone, and so on for each colour. Place matching colours at the spots you want to link.[3]

Portstones like the Blue Portstone come in the same colours, but they have one key rule: you can't teleport to a portstone.[3][4]

Unverified The sources don't describe in detail how you use a portstone to travel. Only the fact that it can't be a destination is confirmed.
Costs and cooldowns in ATM10
Good news for your XP bar: this pack sets teleports.enableCosts to false, which turns off all XP costs for teleporting.[3][5]
The pack still keeps a list of rules in teleports.warpRequirements, applied in order. Within the same dimension, the XP cost scales with distance by a factor of 0.01. A trip between dimensions adds 27. Warps starting from a warp plate or going to a global waystone are multiplied by 0. The final cost is kept between 0 and 27. These XP rules only matter if a server turns costs back on.[3][5]
Cooldowns are still on, because teleports.enableCooldowns is true. The warp rules add a cooldown of 300 to teleports made with the inventory button. When a cooldown is running, the tooltip shows how many seconds are left.[3][5]
Unverified The config doesn't state the unit of the 300 inventory button cooldown, so it is unconfirmed whether it means seconds or ticks.
Global waystones and ownership
Global waystones are available to every player, which makes them great for community hubs or sharing with friends. Teleports to a global waystone also have their XP cost multiplied by 0 in the warp rules.[1][5]
Not everyone can make one, though. Adding GLOBAL to general.allowedVisibilities lets every player create global waystones. This pack leaves that list empty, so that option isn't turned on.[3][5]
This pack also sets general.restrictedWaystones to PLAYER. That means only the owner can edit a waystone with that origin. Anyone else sees a message that the waystone can't be edited.[3][5]
Taking mobs with you
- Leashed mobs come with you, even across dimensions, because teleports.transportLeashed is set to ENABLED.[5]
- Nearby pets stay behind, because teleports.transportPets is set to DISABLED.[5]
- teleports.entityDenyList contains the Wither, so it can't be teleported as a pet, on a leash or on a warp plate.[5]
Finding waystones and map markers
You don't have to craft every waystone yourself. Wild waystones generate roughly every 25 chunks (worldGen.chunksBetweenWildWaystones) in the Overworld, the Nether and the End. Their look depends on the biome they generate in. Waystones also spawn in some villages, as long as the village is vanilla or supported.[5]
If you use a map mod, this pack creates JourneyMap waypoints for each waystone you activate, but only when JourneyMap Integration isn't installed. BlueMap and Dynmap get markers for both waystones and sharestones.[5]
How do you progress through Waystones?
4 parts
Waystones doesn't have a quest line to follow here, so your progression comes from the crafting chain itself. The good news is that every Waystones recipe in this pack is the mod's own recipe. You won't hit any surprise pack tweaks, and the recipe cards below show exactly what you need.[4]
Unverified No pack quests were found that cover this mod, so there is no confirmed quest-based order or reward for any of these items.
Step 1: Warp Dust and the scrolls
Your first real crafting target is Warp Dust. It feeds straight into Dormant Shard, and both of those go into the Warp Plate. That makes Warp Dust the starting point for the whole plate branch.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: waystones:warp_plate
The scrolls sit on their own little branch and don't need any other Waystones item. You can craft a Blank Scroll, a Return Scroll and a Warp Scroll directly.[4]

The Deepslate Shard is another standalone shapeless craft that doesn't use any other Waystones item.[4]
Step 2: The Warp Stone
The Warp Stone is the key item of the mod. Every Waystone, Portstone and Sharestone recipe in the pack uses one, so it's worth crafting a few once you have the materials.[4]

Step 3: Waystones and their stone styles
With a Warp Stone in hand you can craft the regular Waystone. Several decorative stone versions also each take a Warp Stone.[4]

Step 4: Portstones and Sharestones
Portstones and Sharestones also use a Warp Stone, and each one takes a dye that sets its color. Any dye matching the color tag works, so modded dyes should be fine too. The white version of the Portstone is just called Portstone. Here's that one as an example.[4]

Other colors, like waystones:red_portstone, swap in a different dye.
Sharestones follow the same idea, with a colored recipe for each dye. Blue Sharestone is shown below. The recipe dump lists no white Sharestone, so plan on one of the dyed colors.[4]

Unverified What each item actually does in play, such as how scrolls, Portstones, Sharestones and Warp Plates teleport you, plus any costs or cooldowns, could not be confirmed for this pack.
Which Waystones config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Everything below lives in the Waystones common config file. These are the values this pack ships with. The sources I have show the pack's settings but not the mod's defaults, so I won't claim which of these the pack changed.[6]
Teleport rules
- teleports.enableCosts is false, so XP costs are switched off. Its description says that setting it to false disables all XP costs, and points to warpRequirements for finer control.[6]
- teleports.warpRequirements is still filled in. It has an interdimensional cost of 27, a max cost of 27, and a cooldown of 300 for teleports that start from the inventory button. Warp plate teleports and teleports to global waystones are multiplied by 0 for XP cost.[6]
- teleports.enableCooldowns is true, so cooldowns are active.[6]
- teleports.transportPets is DISABLED, so your pets won't follow you. teleports.transportLeashed is ENABLED, so leashed mobs do teleport with you.[6]
- teleports.entityDenyList contains only minecraft:wither, so the Wither can't be teleported.[6]
Use times
general.scrollUseTime and general.warpStoneUseTime are both 32 ticks of holding right-click. general.warpPlateUseTime is 15 ticks, which is how long you stand on a warp plate.[6]
Sharing and editing
- general.allowedVisibilities is empty. Its description says you add GLOBAL there to allow every player to create global waystones, and GLOBAL is not in this pack's list.[6]
- general.restrictedWaystones is set to PLAYER, which means only the owner of a player-made waystone can edit it.[6]
World generation
- worldGen.chunksBetweenWildWaystones is 25, the approximate chunk distance between wild waystones. Setting it to 0 would turn generation off.[6]
- worldGen.wildWaystonesDimensionAllowList lists the Overworld, the Nether and the End. The deny list is empty.[6]
- worldGen.wildWaystoneStyle is BIOME, so a wild waystone's look depends on the biome it generates in.[6]
- worldGen.spawnInVillages is REGULAR, so waystones spawn in some villages, but only vanilla or supported ones.[6]
- worldGen.nameGenerationMode is PRESET_FIRST with an empty worldGen.nameGenerationPresets list. worldGen.nameGenerationTemplate is {MrPork}, the default name generator.[6]
Inventory button and map support
- inventoryButton.inventoryButton is set to an empty string. Its description lists NONE, NEAREST, ANY or a waystone name as the meaningful values. The button sits at inventoryButton.inventoryButtonX 58 and inventoryButton.inventoryButtonY 60.[6]
- compatibility.journeyMap, compatibility.blueMap and compatibility.dynmap are all true. compatibility.preferJourneyMapIntegrationMod is also true, so JourneyMap waypoints are only created if the JourneyMap Integration mod isn't installed.[6]
What changed in Waystones between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 5.4 ships Waystones 21.1.24, in the file waystones-neoforge-1.21.1-21.1.24.jar. Waystones has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, so it's been a travel staple for most of the pack's life.[2]
The pack last updated Waystones in All the Mods 10 5.2, moving from 21.1.23 to 21.1.24. That's the same version you'll find in 5.4.[2][7]
