What is Universal Grid?

2 parts

Universal Grid does one job: it adds a single Universal Grid for Refined Storage. Instead of carrying a separate item for each kind of grid, you carry one and switch it between modes.[1]

The pack runs the 1.21.1 build, so these are the modes you can switch between:[1][2]

  • Grid[1]
  • Crafting Grid[1]
  • Autocrafting Monitor[1]

The Fluid Grid mode only exists on 1.20.1 and below, so you won't find it in this pack. The mod's own page says it only adds the Universal Grid and nothing else.[1][2]

Version in this pack

The pack includes Universal Grid 1.21.1-0.2.2 as the NeoForge build. It was first included in All the Mods 10 2.44 or earlier.[2]

Quest book placement

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter or group for Universal Grid, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. They also do not include an in-jar guidebook for the mod, so where it fits in the pack's progression is not confirmed.

How do you get started with Universal Grid?

3 parts

The Universal Grid is a small Refined Storage add-on, and it only adds one item: the Wireless Universal Grid. It's a single wireless grid that you can switch between several grid types, so you don't have to carry a separate one for each job.[1][3]

Get Refined Storage going

The Wireless Universal Grid is crafted from Refined Storage parts, so get your Refined Storage setup running before you chase it. The recipe below shows exactly what it needs in this pack.[3]

Craft the Wireless Universal Grid

This is the one item to make. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default, so follow the in-pack recipe below and don't rely on the mod's own page.[3]

Pick your grid type

Once you have it, you can switch it between a Grid, a Crafting Grid and an Autocrafting Monitor. That's the list the mod's project page gives for Minecraft 1.21.1 or above.[1]

The mod also has config options for the grid's energy capacity and for its selected grid type. The sources here don't show the pack's values for either.[4]

How does Universal Grid work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Universal Grid is a small mod with one job: it adds a single wireless item, the Wireless Universal Grid, for Refined Storage. The mod describes itself as only adding a Universal Grid, so there are no extra machines or multiblocks to set up.[1]

What the grid can switch between

On Minecraft 1.21.1 or above, the mod's project page says the Universal Grid is switchable between these modes:[1]

  • Grid[1]
  • Crafting Grid[1]
  • Autocrafting Monitor[1]

For 1.20.1 or below, the same page lists a Fluid Grid in place of the Autocrafting Monitor.[1]

Crafting it in this pack

The pack changes the recipe for the Wireless Universal Grid, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The recipe below is the one used in this pack.[5]

Options the mod exposes

The mod has a settings section for the Wireless Universal Grid with an energy capacity option and a selected grid type option.[4]

Unverified The actual energy capacity value and the default grid type in this pack are set in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show them.

How do you progress through Universal Grid?

The recipe data for this pack shows one craftable Universal Grid item: the Wireless Universal Grid. The pack has changed its recipe from the mod's default, so use the recipe below when you plan your build.[3]

How does Universal Grid work with other mods?

1 part

The Wireless Universal Grid is built around Refined Storage, so that is where all of its integration lives. The mod's project page describes it as a Universal Grid for Refined Storage and says it only adds that one item.[1]

On 1.21.1 or above, the project page says you can switch the Universal Grid between these modes:[1]

  • Grid[1]
  • Crafting Grid[1]
  • Autocrafting Monitor[1]

The pack's crafting recipe

This pack changes the recipe for the Wireless Universal Grid. The new recipe combines items from Refined Storage with an item from a second namespace, refinedstorage_quartz_arsenal, plus a diamond gem. The recipe below shows the exact in-pack layout.[3]

Tip: One ingredient is the Wireless Crafting Grid, which comes from a different namespace than the base Refined Storage items. Plan to get it before you try to make the Universal Grid.[3]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve Universal Grid, so the quest book gives no guidance on where it fits. The sources here show no other mod connections beyond this one recipe.

What changed in Universal Grid between versions?

Universal Grid has a short history in All the Mods 10. The pack changelogs only record version bumps for it, so there is nothing here about what changed inside the mod itself.[6][7]

  • All the Mods 10 2.44: Universal Grid was added at version 1.21.1-0.1.3.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 4.6: the mod was updated from 1.21.1-0.1.3 to 1.21.1-0.2.2.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.10: the pack ships Universal Grid 1.21.1-0.2.2, the same version introduced in 4.6.[2]

If you're updating from a pack version older than 4.6, you'll be moving from the 0.1.3 release to the 0.2.2 release of the mod.[2][6]

Unverified The changes between Universal Grid 0.1.3 and 0.2.2, such as new features, fixes or config changes, can't be confirmed. No changelog for the shipped jars is available.
