What is RS Insert Export Upgrade?
2 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
RS Insert Export Upgrade is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds an Insert Upgrade, an Export Upgrade and a Block Picker Upgrade. You add them to your wireless grid, and the Block Picker works on the block you are currently looking at.[1]
This pack includes version 1.20.1-1.4.0 of the mod.[2]
What each upgrade does
- Insert Upgrade: takes items from the inventory slots you pick and dumps them into your network. Click a slot to put a checkmark on it, and anything in a checked slot gets imported. You can also whitelist or blacklist items with the filter at the top.[1]
- Export Upgrade: works the same way, but pulls items out of your Refined Storage network into your inventory. Drag an item from JEI into one of the top slots, then click a slot in your inventory to set the amount. Right click clears it back to X.[1]
- Block Picker Upgrade: lets you extract the block you are currently looking at straight from your network. Aim at a block and press the Pick Block keybind. If a matching block is in your network, it gets extracted into your inventory.[1]
Setting it up
Open your wireless grid and put the upgrade you want in the slot on the right. To configure it, click one of the new buttons on the left side.[1]
How do you get started with RS Insert Export Upgrade?
5 parts
RS Insert Export Upgrade adds a handful of upgrades for Refined Storage that you slot into a Wireless Grid. Open your Wireless Grid, put the upgrade in the slot on the right, then use the new buttons on the left side to configure it.[1][3]
Here is the order I'd craft them in, starting with the ones that make everyday storage easier.[1]
First: Insert Upgrade
The Insert Upgrade takes resources from specific slots of your inventory and dumps them into your network. Click a slot to put a checkmark on it, and anything in a checked slot gets imported. You can also whitelist or blacklist items with the filter at the top.[1][3]

The pack changed this recipe, so follow this one and not the mod's default.
Second: Export Upgrade
The Export Upgrade is the reverse: it pulls specific resources from your network into your inventory. To set it up, drag an item from JEI into one of the slots at the top, then click a slot in your inventory to set the amount. Right click clears it back to X.[1][3]

This is the mod's own recipe, which the pack leaves as it is.
Third: Block Picker Upgrade
With the Block Picker Upgrade, you aim at a block and press the Pick Block keybind. If the matching block is in your network, it is extracted into your inventory. That's handy when you're building.[1][3]

This is the mod's own recipe, which the pack leaves as it is.
Then: Magnet Upgrade
The Magnet Upgrade collects nearby items into your inventory or your storage network. Its Pickup Destination can be Inventory or Network. In Network mode, items allowed by the Insert Filter go to the network, and the rest goes to your inventory. The Pickup Filter controls which ground items the magnet may collect.[3]

The pack changed this recipe too.
Last: Energy Capacity Upgrade
The Energy Capacity Upgrade adds extra FE energy capacity to any Wireless Grid. The other upgrades use energy when they work, so this one is worth making once you're running a few of them.[3]

The pack changed this recipe as well.
Unverified The mod has settings for energy use per upgrade, the Magnet Upgrade pickup radius, the capacity each Energy Capacity Upgrade adds and the number of upgrade slots in a Wireless Grid. The sources here do not show the pack's values for any of them.
How does RS Insert Export Upgrade work?
6 parts
RS Insert Export Upgrade doesn't add machines or multiblocks. It adds upgrade items for the Refined Storage Wireless Grid, and everything below is about how those upgrades move items between you and your network.[1][3]
To use one, open your Wireless Grid and put the upgrade in the slot on the right. To configure it, click one of the new buttons on the left side of the screen.[1]
Insert Upgrade
The Insert Upgrade takes resources from specific slots of your inventory and dumps them into your network. Click a slot in the config screen to put a checkmark on it, and any item in a checked slot gets imported.[1][3]
The filter at the top works as a whitelist or a blacklist. In allow mode only items matching the filter are inserted. In block mode, matching items are excluded from insertion.[1][3]

Export Upgrade
The Export Upgrade works the same way in reverse: it pulls specific resources from your network into your inventory. To choose what, drag an item from JEI into one of the slots at the top, then click a slot in your inventory to set the number you want. Right clicking clears it back to X.[1][3]

This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.
Block Picker Upgrade
The Block Picker Upgrade lets you pull the block you're looking at straight out of your network. Aim at a block and press the Pick Block keybind. If a matching block is in the network, it is extracted into your inventory. Each extraction uses energy.[1][3]

Magnet Upgrade
The Magnet Upgrade collects nearby dropped items into your inventory or your storage network. Only visible dropped items are collected, within a configurable pickup radius in blocks.[3]
Its screen has a Pickup Filter, a Pickup Destination and an Insert Filter, and they work together like this:[3]
- Pickup Filter, allow mode: only items matching the filter are collected, and an empty filter collects nothing.[3]
- Pickup Filter, block mode: items matching the filter are not collected, and an empty filter allows all items.[3]
- Both filters need items and components to match exactly.[3]
- Destination set to Inventory: collected items go directly to your inventory and the Insert Filter is ignored. Anything that doesn't fit stays on the ground.[3]
- Destination set to Network: collected items allowed by the Insert Filter go to the connected Refined Storage network. Other items and any network remainders go to your inventory, and anything that still doesn't fit stays on the ground.[3]
- Insert Filter, allow mode (Network destination only): only matching items are sent to the network, and an empty filter sends nothing to the network.[3]
- Insert Filter, block mode (Network destination only): matching items are excluded from the network, and an empty filter lets all items in.[3]
The magnet spends energy for each ground-item stack it successfully collects, and that includes partial pickups.[3]

Energy Capacity Upgrade
The Energy Capacity Upgrade adds extra FE energy capacity to any Wireless Grid, and the amount applies per upgrade installed. How many upgrade slots a Wireless Grid has is also configurable.[3]

Energy use
The Insert, Export and Block Picker upgrades each have a configurable energy cost. The Insert and Export upgrades charge it per operation they perform, and the Block Picker charges it each time it extracts a block.[3]
Unverified The actual numbers (energy costs, magnet pickup radius, FE added per Energy Capacity Upgrade and the number of Wireless Grid upgrade slots) are set in the mod's config. The sources here don't include a config file for this mod in the pack, so the pack's values are not confirmed.
How do you progress through RS Insert Export Upgrade?
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
There isn't a tier ladder here. This mod adds Insert Upgrade and Export Upgrade, and each has a single crafting recipe in the pack. Neither one is an upgrade of the other, so you don't have to craft one to unlock the other.[5]
Both are shaped crafting recipes that come from the mod itself. Here is the Insert Upgrade recipe exactly as it works in this pack:[5]

How does RS Insert Export Upgrade work with other mods?
3 parts
RS Insert Export Upgrade is an add-on for Refined Storage, and every recipe in the pack that links it to another mod runs through Refined Storage. The Refined Storage parts you already make for your network are the building blocks for these upgrades.[1][4]
To use an upgrade, open your wireless grid and add it in the slot on the right.[1]
Recipes that use Refined Storage items
The Export Upgrade and the Block Picker Upgrade keep the mod's own recipes. Both use Refined Storage items, including the Speed Upgrade and Stack Upgrade.[4]
