What is Repurposed Structures - Neoforge/Forge?
1 part
Repurposed Structures takes vanilla structures and features and adds new variants of them, like a Jungle Fortress. If you like exploring and finding something fresh in places you thought you knew, this mod is for you. Many of its structures started out in the author's Ultra Amplified Dimension mod and were then moved into their own mod for the Overworld.[1]
This pack includes version 7.5.22+1.21.1-neoforge. It was already in the pack by All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier.[2]
What to expect
- It adds no new blocks or mobs. It can run entirely serverside, so vanilla clients can connect.[1]
- On 1.18.2 and newer, all of its structures are in datapack form. A config datapack can turn structures off or change their spawn rates.[1]
- By default it does its best to import modded loot into its structures' loot. You can turn this off in the normal config file in the config folder above the mods folder.[1]
- Banners can show up in chests as a collectable Easter egg, but only if you have the Luck status effect or attribute. Vanilla can't give you Luck, so you need another mod or a datapack for it.[1]
- If the advancements bother you, the author provides a datapack that disables them.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show this mod on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests. They also don't show whether the pack changes any of its default settings, so check the config and datapacks in your own instance before relying on the defaults described above.
How do you get started with Repurposed Structures - Neoforge/Forge?
2 parts
There's no starter item to craft for this mod. Repurposed Structures adds more variations of vanilla structures and features, like a Jungle Fortress, and it doesn't add any new blocks or mobs. So your first steps are all about exploring.[1]
Your first steps
- Explore the Overworld as you normally would. The mod adds its structures to biomes directly, so you'll run into new variants of vanilla structures as you travel.[1]
- Open the chests you find. The mod has a setting that adds modded loot from vanilla structure loot tables and injects it into Repurposed Structures loot tables. For example, a Snowy Pyramid gets all the modded items that a vanilla Desert Temple can have.[3]
- Keep an eye out for banners in chests. The mod's page describes them as an Easter Egg collectable, and they only show up if you have the Luck status effect or attribute. Vanilla can't give you Luck, so you'd need another mod or a datapack for it.[1]
Turning things off
According to the mod's page, its structures are in datapack form. A config datapack lets you turn structures off or change spawn rates, and a separate datapack disables all of the mod's advancements if they annoy you.[1]
How does Repurposed Structures - Neoforge/Forge work?
4 parts
Here's the thing you need to know first: Repurposed Structures has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It adds variants of vanilla structures and features, like a Jungle Fortress, and the mod's own FAQ says it adds no new blocks or mobs. Because of that, the mod can run entirely serverside and vanilla clients can still connect. So the mechanics worth knowing are about how structures spawn, what's in their loot, and how you can change them.[1]
Structures are datapack-driven
On Minecraft 1.18.2 and newer, the mod's structures are in datapack form. That means most of the mod can be changed with a datapack, including turning structures on or off and changing spawn rates. The mod's page also mentions that you can change things like the height RS Mineshafts spawn at or how large RS villages are. The author provides an example config datapack to edit, and a flat world containing all the structure pieces to make overriding them easier.[1]
If the advancements bug you, there's a separate datapack that turns the mod's advancements off. You can delete the files for the structures you still want advancements for.[1]
Unverified Whether this pack ships any datapack that changes Repurposed Structures' spawn rates or structure settings is not confirmed by the available sources, so assume the mod's own behavior unless you see otherwise in your world.
Modded loot importing
By default, the mod does its best to import modded loot into its structures' loot tables. It takes the modded items found in vanilla structure loot tables and injects them into the matching Repurposed Structures tables. For example, the Snowy Pyramid gets all the modded items that the vanilla Desert Temple can have. This is handy in a big pack, since the new structure variants can hold modded loot too.[1][3]
If you don't want this, the mod's config has an option to turn the importing off entirely. It also has a blacklist option where you list specific Repurposed Structures loot table identifiers, separated by commas, to exclude only those tables. The tooltip's examples are the birch mansion chest table and the jungle mineshaft chest table.[1][3]
Unverified No config file for this mod was found in the pack, so whether these loot importing options are exposed or changed in this pack is unconfirmed.
Banners in chests
Some chests can contain collectable banners, treated as a bit of an Easter egg. To find them you need the latest version of the mod and the Luck status effect or attribute. Luck can't be obtained in vanilla, so you'd need another mod or a datapack to provide it.[1]
Compatibility with other structure mods
The mod adds its structures to biomes directly, so conflicts with other mods are described as highly unlikely. YUNG's mods work alongside it and both sets of structures keep spawning. Repurposed Structures' versions keep their own style unless you add special datapacks, and the mod's page mentions such datapacks for strongholds, dungeons and other structures. Mineshafts have no such datapack because YUNG's Better Mineshafts already has biome variants.[1]
