What is MmmMmmMmmMmm?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
MmmMmmMmmMmm is a tiny mod that adds exactly one item: a Target Dummy. You place it in the world, hit it, and it wiggles and shows you big floating damage numbers. It's a handy way to test your weapons and your DPS without hunting for mobs.[1]
The pack includes version 1.21-2.1.0 of the mod, and it has been there since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier. This version is a rewrite of the original 1.12 mod by bonusboni.[1][2]
What it does
- Right click a block to place the dummy. It can face 16 different directions depending on which way you face, like an armor stand.[1]
- Right click it with armor or equipment to dress it up. Click the matching body part to take a piece off. Dressing it up makes the numbers smaller.[1]
- Damage numbers change color with the damage type. Critical hits show red and lightning shows yellow. Several numbers can be on screen at once, and they fade so you can tell which is newest.[1]
- Remove it with shift and left click using an empty hand. You can also break it by removing the block under its feet.[1]
- A dispenser can place the dummy for you, which helps with automated testing.[1]
Mob types and extras
Put an undead mob head on the dummy and it becomes an undead target, which is great for testing a smite weapon. A turtle helmet makes it a water mob, and a pillager banner makes it a pillager. Other mobs still won't attack it. It just takes extra damage from the matching enchantments.[1]
Equip a pumpkin or a jack o lantern and it acts as a scarecrow that scares nearby animals. You can also try shearing it to get a different skin.[1]
Who it's for
It's for anyone who wants to compare weapons, enchantments or armor setups safely. It's a utility, not a progression mod, so you can use it at any point.[1]
Unverified The sources I was given don't show whether the pack changes any of this mod's config values. They also don't show any quest or ATM Star path involvement for the mod, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression.
How do you get started with MmmMmmMmmMmm?
3 parts
Good news: this mod is tiny. It adds exactly one item, the Target Dummy, so there is no long progression to follow. Your first step is to make one and start hitting it.[1]
Craft your dummy
The dummy has a single crafting recipe in this pack, shown below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: dummmmmmy:dummy_crafting
Place it and test your damage
- Right click on a block with the dummy to place it. It can face 16 different directions depending on which way you look when you place it, just like an armor stand.[1]
- Hit it. It wiggles and shows floating damage numbers every time it takes a hit, and your DPS appears on the status bar.[1][4]
- Right click it with armor or equipment to dress it up. To take a piece off, click the matching body part. Dressing it up makes the numbers smaller.[1]
- When you are done testing, shift left click it with an empty hand to remove it.[1]
Fun things to try
- Put an undead mob head on it and it changes its type accordingly, which is handy for testing a smite weapon without skeletons around. A turtle helmet makes it a water mob, and a pillager banner makes it a pillager.[1]
- Equip it with a pumpkin or jack o lantern and it acts as a scarecrow, scaring nearby animals.[1]
- Shear it to get a different skin.[1]
- Dispense it with a dispenser if you want to automate placing it.[1]
How does MmmMmmMmmMmm work?
6 parts
This mod is small. It adds exactly one item, the Target Dummy, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item pipes to learn. What it does have is a handful of neat mechanics around that one dummy, and they're all covered below.[1]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: dummmmmmy:dummy_crafting
This is the pack's recipe for the dummy.
Placing, dressing and removing
- Right click on a block with the dummy to place it. It can face 16 different directions depending on the way you face when you place it, like an armor stand.[1]
- Right click the dummy with an armor piece or other equipment to dress it. To take a piece off, click the matching body part.[1]
- To remove the dummy, shift left click it with an empty hand.[1]
- Dressing it up makes the damage numbers smaller.[1]
Automation
You can dispense the dummy from a dispenser, which is handy for setting up arenas. You can also break it by removing the block under its feet.[1]
Changing the dummy's mob type
Want to test a smite sword without hunting skeletons? Put an undead mob head on the dummy and it changes its type to match. A turtle helmet makes it a water mob, and a pillager banner makes it a pillager. It takes more damage from the appropriate enchantments, but other mobs still won't attack it.[1]
The mod ships item tags that sort heads into categories. The undead tag holds the zombie head, skeleton skull and wither skeleton skull, plus the zombified piglin head from another mod when it's installed. The aquatic tag holds the turtle helmet. The nether tag holds the piglin head, with optional entries from other head mods. The arthropod tag holds the dragon head, plus an optional spider head from another mod.[5][6][7][8]
Giving the dummy a banner also puts it in boss mode. The mod has config options for the health it has in that mode and for the color of its health bar.[4]
Damage numbers and DPS
Every hit makes the dummy wiggle and pop up floating damage numbers. Several numbers can show at once, and they fade so you can tell which is newest. The numbers change color by damage type: the mod describes critical hits as red and lightning damage as yellow, and it has a config option for the color of each damage type.[1][4]
The mod also groups damage types into tags for cold, explosion, fire, thorn and wither damage. Cold covers freezing, explosion covers anything in the vanilla explosion tag, and fire covers anything in the vanilla fire tag. Thorn covers thorns, cactus, sweet berry bush and sting damage, and wither covers wither and wither skull damage.[9][10][11][12][13]
Your DPS shows on the status bar. You can pick between a static message that appears after each parse and a dynamic one that updates as you hit. You can also make the numbers show hearts instead of damage, where one heart is two damage.[1][4]
Scarecrow mode
Equip the dummy with a pumpkin or a jack o lantern and it acts as a scarecrow. It keeps animals away and stops mobs from spawning around it. The mod has a blacklist for animals that shouldn't be scared and a whitelist for extra animals that should be.[1][4]
Other options the mod offers
The mod's config has options to stop your equipment taking damage when you hit the dummy, and to make the dummy drop XP based on the damage it takes. It can also show damage and healing numbers on regular mobs, and make monsters target a dummy wearing a player head. There are visual options for swing intensity, hay particles, the number display and the dummy's skin. Shearing the dummy gives it a different skin.[1][4]
Unverified Which of these config options are switched on in this pack, and their exact values, are not shown in the sources here, because no config files for this mod are available. That includes the player head decoy option, which sits alongside the project page's note that other mobs won't attack the dummy.
How do you progress through MmmMmmMmmMmm?
2 parts
There's no tier ladder to climb with this mod. In the pack's recipe dump, the only recipe that makes one of its items is the Target Dummy, so progression here is a single craft rather than a chain of upgrades.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: dummmmmmy:dummy_crafting
This is the only recipe in the pack's dump that makes an item from this mod.
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter that covers this mod, so where it sits in the pack's quest book is not confirmed. Check the in-game quest book for anything about it.
Damage categories the mod recognises
The mod's own data files sort damage types into groups: cold, explosion, fire, thorns and wither. Cold covers freezing damage. Explosion and fire build on the vanilla explosion and fire groups. Thorns covers thorns, cactus, sweet berry bush and sting damage, and wither covers wither and wither skull damage.[9][10][11][12][13]
The cold, explosion and fire groups also list damage types from the attributeslib namespace. Those entries are marked as not required, so the groups still load without them.[9][10][11]
Head groups
The mod also defines groups of head items. The aquatic group holds the Turtle Helmet, and the arthropod group holds the Dragon Head. The nether group holds the Piglin Head, and the undead group holds the Zombie Head, Skeleton Skull and Wither Skeleton Skull. Each of the arthropod, nether and undead groups also lists extra heads from other mods as optional entries.[5][6][7][8]
What changed in MmmMmmMmmMmm between versions?
2 parts
All the Mods 10 8.2 ships MmmMmmMmmMmm 1.21-2.1.2, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.53 or earlier. Here is what changed along the way, newest first, with the pack release that brought each update.[14]
Pack releases and what they brought
- All the Mods 10 8.2 moved the mod from 2.1.0 to 2.1.2. The 2.1.2 changelog lists a fix for an issue with number color.[15][16]
- All the Mods 10 7.3 moved the mod from 2.0.12 to 2.1.0, the biggest change in this list. The configs were reworked: categories now have icons, scarecrow and damage numbers are proper feature toggles you can switch off wholesale, and boss settings moved to their own category. It also added a punchable dummy on the config screen that watches your cursor, and hitting it makes straw fly. Translations were updated too.[17][18]
- All the Mods 10 7.0 moved the mod from 2.0.11 to 2.0.12. The mod's changelog for that version only lists translations.[19][20]
- All the Mods 10 4.15 moved the mod from 2.0.9 to 2.0.11. The 2.0.11 changelog added critical strike mod compatibility, credited to Daedelus.[21][22]
- All the Mods 10 4.6 moved the mod from 2.0.8 to 2.0.9, which fixed particles spawned with a command and unusual velocities.[23][24]
- All the Mods 10 4.0 moved the mod from 2.0.7 to 2.0.8, which improved shield logic.[25][26]
- All the Mods 10 2.37 moved the mod from 2.0.6 to 2.0.7. Unused configs were removed, pets now count as a player attack source (this was a fix), and renaming a dummy with a number gives that dummy that max health.[27][28]
Older mod changelog entries
These earlier mod versions have changelogs too, but the pack changelogs here don't say which pack release first carried them.[29][30][31]
- 2.0.6 fixed some enchantment code keeping the server level loaded in memory when you were on the main screen.[29]
- 2.0.4 removed the dummy boss bar when the dummy is killed, stopped the dummy from triggering pressure plates, and added an es_mx translation.[30]
- 2.0.3 fixed an issue where very high damage values spawned way too many particles.[31]
