What is Hey Berry! SHUT UP?
2 parts
Hey Berry! SHUT UP is a small quality-of-life fix for one specific annoyance: berry bushes. Villager AI isn't great, and when a village spawns near berry bushes, the villagers will happily wander into them and get hurt. This mod stops berry bushes from damaging villagers.[1]
It also helps you. Berry bush thorns are no longer armor piercing, and if you're wearing leg protection, you're safe from them too.[1]
The mod also has a config that can disable berry bush damage altogether. The sources don't give the option's name or file, so check the config folder in your instance if you want to use it.[1]
Who it's for
This one is for anyone who wants villages to stay alive and doesn't want to get stabbed through their armor while grabbing berries. There's nothing to craft and nothing to set up, because it works as soon as it's installed.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Hey Berry! SHUT UP at version 1.21.0-2.0.4. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources don't say whether the pack changes any of this mod's settings from its defaults. They also don't cover where it fits in the pack's progression, so treat it as a background fix rather than something to plan around.
How do you get started with Hey Berry! SHUT UP?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: there's nothing to craft to get going with this mod. It adds no items of its own that you need to make, so the first steps are about knowing what it changes while you explore.[1]
What the mod does for you
- Villagers no longer take damage from berry bushes. Villager AI can wander into bushes when a village spawns near them, and this mod stops that from killing them.[1]
- Berry bush thorns are no longer armor piercing. If you wear leg protection, you're safe from the bushes too.[1]
- There's a config option to turn off berry bush damage altogether.[1]
Unverified The exact name and file of the config option that disables all berry bush damage isn't confirmed by the available sources, so check the mod's config file in the pack before relying on it.
Unverified No quests or crafting recipes in this pack involve this mod, so there is no recipe to follow.
How does Hey Berry! SHUT UP work?
1 part
This one is a tiny mod, and that's the point. The sources I have only describe how it handles damage from berry bushes and cactus. They don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so there's nothing to set up or wire together.[1][3]
Here's what it does. Villagers no longer take damage from berry bushes, which stops them wandering to their death in villages that spawn near bushes. Berry bush thorns are also no longer armor piercing, so players wearing leg protection are safe.[1]
How the pack configures it
All the behavior is controlled by four options in the mod's common config. Here are the values this pack sets:[3]
- Common.disableBerryDamage is false in the pack. Setting it to true disables berry damage for all entities, and the other options then don't matter.[3]
- Common.disableCactusDamage is false in the pack. Setting it to true disables cactus damage for all entities, and again the other options then don't matter.[3]
- Common.disableDamageWhenArmored is true in the pack. Wearing boots and leggings prevents players from taking damage in berry bushes and on cactus.[3]
- Common.disableVillagerDamage is true in the pack. Villagers don't take damage when walking in berry bushes or on cactus.[3]
Unverified The sources don't say how much damage bushes or cactus deal to unprotected players or mobs, or whether the armor protection needs both boots and leggings or just one. The config description names both, but this is unconfirmed beyond that wording.
Which Hey Berry! SHUT UP config options matter?
Hey Berry! SHUT UP has just four options, all in config/heyberryshutup-common.toml. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[3]
- Common.disableBerryDamage is false in this pack. When true, berry bush damage is turned off for all entities and the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableCactusDamage is false in this pack. When true, cactus damage is turned off for all entities and the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableDamageWhenArmored is true in this pack. Wearing boots and leggings stops players from taking damage in berry bushes and on cactus.[3]
- Common.disableVillagerDamage is true in this pack. Villagers take no damage from walking in berry bushes or on cactus.[3]
In practice, villagers are protected and so are players with boots and leggings on. Everyone else still gets pricked by berry bushes and cactus, because the two global switches are left off.[1][3]
Unverified The sources do not show the mod's own default values, so it is unconfirmed whether this pack changed any of these options from the defaults.
