What is Hey Berry! SHUT UP?
2 parts
Hey Berry! SHUT UP is a small quality-of-life mod that fixes a very specific problem: villager AI isn't great, and when a village spawns near berry bushes, villagers will happily wander into them and die.[1]
The mod disables the damage that berry bushes do to villagers. It also makes the thorns no longer armor piercing, so if you're wearing leg protection, you're safe too. No more losing health to a bush while fully geared up.[1]
Who it's for
Anyone who plays near villages, relies on villagers for trading or breeding, or just wants to walk through berry patches without a surprise. There's nothing to craft and nothing to set up. It works in the background.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
This pack ships Hey Berry! SHUT UP version 1.21.0-2.0.4. It has been included since All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the pack.[2]
The mod has no progression role. It isn't a stage you unlock or a tech tier you work toward. It's a passive fix that applies from the moment you load in.[1]
Unverified The exact name and default value of the berry bush damage config in this pack could not be confirmed from the available sources, and neither could any pack-specific changes to the mod.
How do you get started with Hey Berry! SHUT UP?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: there's nothing to craft to get going with this mod. It adds no items of its own that you need to make, so the first steps are about knowing what it changes while you explore.[1]
What the mod does for you
- Villagers no longer take damage from berry bushes. Villager AI can wander into bushes when a village spawns near them, and this mod stops that from killing them.[1]
- Berry bush thorns are no longer armor piercing. If you wear leg protection, you're safe from the bushes too.[1]
- There's a config option to turn off berry bush damage altogether.[1]
Unverified The exact name and file of the config option that disables all berry bush damage isn't confirmed by the available sources, so check the mod's config file in the pack before relying on it.
Unverified No quests or crafting recipes in this pack involve this mod, so there is no recipe to follow.
How does Hey Berry! SHUT UP work?
1 part
Hey Berry! SHUT UP is a small quality-of-life mod, so there are no machines or multiblocks to learn here. What it changes is how berry bushes hurt things. Villagers no longer take damage from berry bushes, and berry bush thorns are no longer armor piercing. The project page says villagers will otherwise happily walk around to their death when a village spawns near berry bushes.[1]
Players wearing leg protection are safe too, and there is a config to turn berry bush damage off altogether. The pack's config also covers cactus damage. Everything lives in one common config file, and the values below are the ones this pack sets.[1][3]
How the damage rules work in this pack
- Common.disableBerryDamage is false in the pack, so berry bushes still hurt. If you set it to true, berry damage is disabled for all entities and the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableCactusDamage is false in the pack, so cacti still hurt. If you set it to true, cactus damage is disabled for all entities and the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableDamageWhenArmored is true in the pack. Wearing boots and leggings prevents players from taking damage in berry bushes and on cactus.[3]
- Common.disableVillagerDamage is true in the pack. Villagers do not take damage when walking in berry bushes or on cactus.[3]
Unverified The sources do not describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling for this mod.
Which Hey Berry! SHUT UP config options matter?
This mod only has a handful of options, and they all live in one file, config/heyberryshutup-common.toml. Here is exactly how this pack sets each one.[3]
- Common.disableBerryDamage is set to false in this pack. Setting it to true turns off berry bush damage for all entities, and when it is true the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableCactusDamage is set to false in this pack. Setting it to true turns off cactus damage for all entities, and when it is true the other options no longer matter.[3]
- Common.disableDamageWhenArmored is set to true in this pack. Wearing boots and leggings stops players from taking damage in berry bushes and on cactus.[3]
- Common.disableVillagerDamage is set to true in this pack. Villagers don't take damage when walking through berry bushes or on cactus.[3]
So in this pack, berry bushes and cactus still hurt most entities. Villagers are protected, and so are players wearing leg and foot armor. That matches what the mod is built for: villagers wandering into berry bushes, and thorns that used to pierce armor.[1][3]
Unverified The sources don't show the mod's own default values, so I can't say whether the pack changed any of these four options from the mod default.
