What is Dis-Enchanting Table?

2 parts

Dis-Enchanting Table adds one simple but very handy workbench, the Dis-Enchanting Table. It pulls enchantments off enchanted items or books and puts them onto a book, so they're no longer stuck on one piece of gear.[1]

Say you've got an enchanted sword that's about to break, or a pickaxe with enchantments you want to keep. Put it on the table and the enchantments move onto a book, while the item stays behind without them. That makes it great for rescuing valuable enchantments from armor or tools you're done using.[1]

How it works in the pack

  1. Put your enchanted item in the left slot.[2]
  2. Put a book in the middle slot.[2]
  3. Take the enchantments from the right slot, now in book form.[2]
Tip: You can also use an enchanted book instead of an item. The table then splits up that book's enchantments.[2]

Where it fits

All the Mods 10 5.5 includes version 5.0.2 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[3]

The pack introduces the table in the Tips and Tricks quest chapter with "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest, which calls it probably the most helpful tip there. If you're picking up enchanted gear or books, it's worth having one around.[2]

The mod's own description says each use always costs five levels of experience.[1]

Unverified The pack files provided don't confirm whether All the Mods 10 keeps this experience cost or changes it, so check in-game before you rely on it.

How do you get started with Dis-Enchanting Table?

2 parts

The Dis-Enchanting Table is a workbench that pulls enchantments off your gear and puts them onto books. If your enchanted sword is about to break, or you're done with some old armor or tools, you can save those enchantments before you lose them.[1]

The pack itself calls this table probably the most helpful tip in its Tips and Tricks chapter, and the quest "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest asks you to get one. That makes it a great early goal.[2]

Craft the table

The first thing to make is the table itself. The pack has changed its recipe, so follow the in-pack version shown below and not the mod's default recipe.[4]

This recipe is changed by the pack.

Pull your first enchantments

  1. Put an enchanted item in the left slot of the table.[2]
  2. Put a book in the middle slot.[2]
  3. Take the enchantments from the right slot, where they come out in book form.[2]

Your item doesn't get destroyed. For example, you can put a pickaxe with Efficiency and Unbreaking on the table, move the enchantments to a book, and keep the pickaxe without its enchantments.[1]

Tip: You can also put an enchanted book in the left slot instead of an item. The table then splits that book's enchantments apart.[2]

Unverified The mod's project page says each use always costs five levels of experience. The pack's quest doesn't mention a cost, so it's not confirmed whether that's the cost in this pack.

How does Dis-Enchanting Table work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The Dis-Enchanting Table is a workbench with one job: it pulls enchantments off an enchanted item and puts them into a book.[1]

What it does

Say you have an enchanted sword that is about to break. Put it on the table and the enchantments are separated from the sword and moved into a book, so you keep the sword without its enchantments.[1]

The mod's page gives another example: a pickaxe with efficiency can be placed on the table, the enchantments pass to a book, and you keep the plain pickaxe. It is handy for rescuing valuable enchantments from armor or tools you no longer want to use.[1]

Cost

The experience cost is flat. The mod's page says it always costs five levels of experience, so you can plan for it ahead of time.[1]

Tip: Because the cost is always five levels, save the table for items that carry enchantments you really want to keep.[1]

Crafting the table

The pack changes the table's crafting recipe, so use the recipe below rather than anything you remember from other packs.[5]

Multiplayer

The mod's page says it works on servers, so you can use it with friends.[1]

Unverified The sources here show no config files for this mod in the pack, so whether the experience cost can be changed is not shown. The sources also do not cover the table's interface layout or any automation support.

How do you progress through Dis-Enchanting Table?

3 parts

Good news: there's no long tier ladder to climb here. In this pack, the recipes that make items for this mod produce just one thing, the Dis-Enchanting Table itself. Craft it once and you have everything the mod offers.[4]

Crafting the table

All the Mods 10 changes this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs or the mod's default. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and the exact in-pack version is shown below.[4]

The quest

The table has its own quest, "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest, in the Tips and Tricks chapter. To complete it, obtain a Dis-Enchanting Table. The quest calls it probably the most helpful tip in that chapter, so it's worth grabbing early.[2]

Using it

  1. Put an enchanted item in the left slot.[2]
  2. Put a book in the middle slot.[2]
  3. Take the enchantments from the right slot, where they come out in book form.[2]
Tip: You can also put an enchanted book in the left slot instead of an item. This splits up that book's enchantments, which is handy when a book carries several enchantments and you only want some of them.[2]

Unverified Whether the table keeps the item after removing enchantments, and whether it costs experience, isn't confirmed for this pack. Test it on something you don't mind losing first.

How does Dis-Enchanting Table work with other mods?

1 part

This one is a short section: the pack doesn't tie the Dis-Enchanting Table to any other mod through its own recipes or quests. What the pack does is point you straight at it. It gets its own quest, "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest, in the Tips and Tricks chapter, where it's called probably the most helpful tip there. To complete that quest, you just need the table itself.[2]

How the pack wants you to use it

  1. Put an enchanted item in the left slot.[2]
  2. Put a book in the middle slot.[2]
  3. Take the enchantments out of the right slot as a book.[2]
Tip: You can also put an enchanted book in the left slot instead of an item. This splits its enchantments up, which is handy for pulling one enchantment off a stacked book.[2]

The mod is built to recover enchantments from enchanted objects or books. For example, you can save the enchantments from a tool or piece of armor you're about to retire, and the item itself stays behind without its enchantments.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm whether the table accepts enchanted gear from other mods in this pack, or whether other mods' enchantments can be moved onto books this way.

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Dis-Enchanting Table?

1 part

This mod shows up in one spot in the pack's questbook: the Tips and Tricks chapter. There's a single quest here, "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest, and it's all about getting your hands on the table itself.[2]

Tips and Tricks chapter

To complete "Dis-Enchanting Table" quest, you just need to obtain a Dis-Enchanting Table. The quest calls it probably the most helpful tip in the whole chapter, and honestly that's fair, because it lets you pull enchantments off gear you're done with instead of losing them.[2]

Craft this to complete the quest.

The quest text also walks you through how the table works, so here's the quick version:[2]

  1. Put an enchanted item in the left slot.[2]
  2. Put a book in the middle slot.[2]
  3. Grab the result from the right slot, where the enchantments come out in book form.[2]
Tip: You can also put an enchanted book in the left slot instead of an item. That splits up its enchantments, which is handy when a book is carrying a pile of enchants you want to use separately.[2]

What changed in Dis-Enchanting Table between versions?

1 part

Dis-Enchanting Table has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time. It was first included in version 2.2 of the pack or earlier, so it's been around for most of the pack's life.[3]

In All the Mods 10 5.5, you're playing with Dis-Enchanting Table 5.0.2, shipped as the merged jar built for Minecraft 1.21.1.[3]

Updates across pack releases

  • All the Mods 10 2.43 updated the mod from 3.1.0 to 4.0.2, a major version jump.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 3.2 updated the mod from 4.0.2 to 5.0.2, another major version jump.[7]
  • Version 5.0.2 is still the one included in All the Mods 10 5.5, so the mod hasn't changed version since the 3.2 update.[3][7]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record the version numbers, not what changed inside the mod. The mod's own changelogs for these versions weren't available, so any gameplay or recipe differences between 3.1.0, 4.0.2 and 5.0.2 are unverified. If something works differently than you remember from an older pack version, one of these major updates is a likely reason.
