Macaw's Trapdoors is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.1.5. Adds vanila trapdoors in every plank variation, and some new trapdoors too! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Macaw's Trapdoors?

1 part

Macaw's Trapdoors is all about trapdoor variety. It adds the vanilla-style trapdoor in every plank variation, plus some brand new trapdoors too. The project page mentions Ranch Trapdoors and Bamboo Trapdoors among the newer additions, with more on top of that.[1]

The pack includes version 1.1.5 of the mod, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book gives the mod its own quest, "Macaw's Trapdoors" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter. The quest text says it adds different types and versions of trapdoors, and gives the example of a Jungle Trapdoor with the Spruce pattern.[3]

Here is the path that leads to it:[3]

  1. "Building Tips!" quest is the chapter's starting quest.[3]
  2. "Decoration!" quest comes after it and introduces decoration mods in general.[3]
  3. "Decor Mods!" quest comes after Decoration and covers decor mods the author recommends.[3]
  4. "Macaw's Mods" quest comes after Decor Mods and introduces the developer behind the Macaw's mods.[3]
  5. "Macaw's Trapdoors" quest comes after Macaw's Mods.[3]

Its quest text compares the mod to Macaw's Doors. Next to it in the Decor Mods group you will also find quests such as "Cooking for Blockheads" quest and "Handcrafted" quest. The chapter has 67 quests, and the text of 34 of them isn't shown in the sources I had, so check the quest book itself to see whether anything follows the trapdoors quest.[3]

How do you get started with Macaw's Trapdoors?

6 parts

Macaw's Trapdoors adds vanilla-style trapdoors in every plank variation, plus some brand new designs. In this pack's quest book it has its own quest, "Macaw's Trapdoors" quest, in the Building Tips chapter. It comes after the Macaw's Mods quest, next to Macaw's Doors and Macaw's Roofs, and it says you can mix things up, like a Jungle Trapdoor with the Spruce pattern.[1][3]

Step 1: Make a glass trapdoor

Start with the glass style in your favorite wood. Acacia Glass Trapdoor is the example here, and a single craft gives you 2. The same pattern shows up for other woods like birch, cherry, crimson and dark oak, and bamboo has its own version too. It's worth making first because the barn style is built on top of it.[4]

Step 2: Upgrade it to a barn trapdoor

Once you have a glass trapdoor, Acacia Barn Trapdoor is one craft away.[4]

Step 3: Log and barrel styles

These styles don't need a glass trapdoor first. Acacia Ranch Trapdoor, Acacia Bark Trapdoor and Acacia Barrel Trapdoor each have their own recipe below.[4]

Step 4: Bamboo

Bamboo Trapdoor is the simplest recipe in the mod, and it makes one trapdoor per craft.[4]

Step 5: Print designs

Many of the other designs, such as classic, cottage, mystic and whispering, are crafted from a matching print item plus planks. For example, Classic Trapdoor Print is used to make Acacia Classic Trapdoor. Each of these crafts gives you a single trapdoor.[4]

Step 6: Metal trapdoors

The metal trapdoors are Metal Glass Trapdoor, Metal Trapdoor and Warning Trapdoor. The pack has changed all of these recipes, so use the versions shown below.[4]

How does Macaw's Trapdoors work?

2 parts

Macaw's Trapdoors is a content mod, not a tech mod. It adds vanilla-style trapdoors in every plank variation, plus some brand new trapdoor designs. The sources don't document any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling for it, so there's nothing to set up or automate. The mechanics that matter here are the crafting chains.[1]

How the crafting chain works

The recipes are all shaped crafting. Of the recipes that make this mod's items, 132 combine this mod's items with vanilla ones, and another 56 use only vanilla items. Each one makes a different result.[4]

Several designs are made with a print item, like Mesh Trapdoor Print, together with planks of the wood you want. The Acacia Mesh Trapdoor is a good example of this pattern:[4]

Other designs start from the glass variant. The acacia glass recipe gives you 2 trapdoors per craft, and the acacia Barn design is then made from the Acacia Glass Trapdoor. Here is that chain:[4]

The Barrel designs are a separate branch. The acacia version doesn't use a print or the glass trapdoor, and the recipe makes 4 trapdoors per craft:[4]

Metal trapdoors are changed by the pack

The metal trapdoors have recipes changed by this pack, so don't assume the mod's own defaults apply. The Metal Glass Trapdoor is the starting point and gives you 2 per craft. The Metal Trapdoor is crafted from it. The Warning Trapdoor has its own separate recipe.[4]

Tip: The metal recipes accept any iron ingot from the shared ingot tag, so you aren't tied to one specific mod's iron.[4]

How do you progress through Macaw's Trapdoors?

5 parts

In this pack, progression with Macaw's Trapdoors is about which styles you unlock, not about power tiers. The recipes fall into a few steps depending on what each trapdoor is made from, and the quest book gives you one simple milestone to aim for.[4]

Where the quest book puts it

The quest "Macaw's Trapdoors" quest sits in the Building Tips chapter. The path runs through Building Tips!, then Decoration!, then Decor Mods!, then "Macaw's Mods" quest. The Trapdoors quest sits beside the Macaw's Doors, Roofs, Fences and Walls, and Paths and Pavings quests, which all follow that same Macaw's Mods quest.[3]

The quest text describes the mod as a sibling of Macaw's Doors: it adds different types and versions of trapdoors, so you can have a Jungle Trapdoor with the Spruce pattern.[3]

The final quest in this group is "Completed Macaw" quest, which asks for one of everything from Macaw's Mods. It needs the Trapdoors quest along with Doors, Fences and Walls, Roofs, Paths and Pavings, Lights and Lamps, Furniture and Windows.[3]

Step 1: Plain wood styles

Several styles need no print item, just wood materials. Bamboo Trapdoor is one. Most wood types also have Glass, Bark, Ranch and Barrel styles, for example Acacia Glass Trapdoor, Acacia Bark Trapdoor, Acacia Ranch Trapdoor and Acacia Barrel Trapdoor.[4]

The recipes show these for acacia, birch, cherry, crimson, dark oak, jungle and mangrove. Bamboo has Glass, Bark and Barrel, and oak has Bark and Barrel. The glass, bark and ranch recipes make 2 trapdoors per craft, and the barrel recipes make 4.[4]

The glass style makes 2 trapdoors per craft, and the barn style builds on it.

Bark styles make 2 trapdoors per craft.

Step 2: Barn styles

Barn trapdoors build on the glass trapdoor of the same wood. For example, Acacia Barn Trapdoor uses Acacia Glass Trapdoor, so make the glass style first.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped

Step 3: Print-based styles

Many other designs need a print item plus the wood material. Examples are Waffle Trapdoor Print for Waffle, Classic Trapdoor Print for Classic and Mystic Trapdoor Print for Mystic. The prints used in the recipes also include Mesh, Barred, Beach, Cottage, Four Panel, Paper, Swamp, Tropical and Whispering.[4]

A print-based style: one print plus the wood material makes one trapdoor.

Step 4: Metal trapdoors

The metal trapdoors are Metal Glass Trapdoor, Metal Trapdoor and Warning Trapdoor. Their recipes are the ones the pack has changed, and each takes any iron ingot. The full Metal Trapdoor builds on the Metal Glass Trapdoor, so make that one first.[4]

Tip: Trust the recipe blocks above for the metal trapdoors rather than what you remember from other packs, because these recipes are marked as changed by the pack.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Macaw's Trapdoors?

3 parts

In this pack, Macaw's Trapdoors only shows up in one chapter of the quest book: "Building Tips". It's a big chapter of 67 quests about tools, blocks and decoration, and the trapdoors have their own quest near the end of one of its decoration branches.[3]

How you get there

  1. The chapter starts with "Building Tips!" quest, which opens up the tools, blocks and decoration branches.[3]
  2. Next comes "Decoration!" quest. It points out that modded Minecraft has far more decoration options than just stairs.[3]
  3. After that is "Decor Mods!" quest, which collects mods the author considers perfect for decorating a house or base.[3]
  4. Then "Macaw's Mods" quest introduces Macaw Sketch, a popular mod developer known for decor mods, and asks if you can craft it all.[3]
  5. Finally "Macaw's Trapdoors" quest unlocks. It's described as similar to the doors quest, adding different types and versions of trapdoors. The example it gives is a Jungle trapdoor with the Spruce pattern.[3]

What sits next to it

The trapdoor quest isn't alone. Four more Macaw quests unlock from the same Macaw's Mods quest: "Macaw's Doors" quest, "Macaw's Roofs" quest, "Macaw's Fences and Walls" quest and "Macaw's Paths and Pavings" quest. The book doesn't force an order between them, since they all just follow Macaw's Mods.[3]

Three other Macaw quests sit elsewhere in the chapter. "Macaw's Furniture" quest also follows Decor Mods!, "Macaw's Lights and Lamps" quest follows the light source quest a quest in "Building Tips", and "Macaw's Windows" quest follows the glass quest a quest in "Building Tips".[3]

The wrap-up quest

"Completed Macaw" quest is a checkmark quest that unlocks after you've finished eight Macaw quests: Doors, Fences and Walls, Roofs, Paths and Pavings, Trapdoors, Lights and Lamps, Furniture and Windows. Its text says you've got one of everything from Macaw's Mods, so the trapdoors are one required piece of that set.[3]

Tip: Since Lights and Lamps and Windows hang off different branches (light sources and glass), you'll need to visit those parts of the chapter too if you want the final Macaw quest.[3]

What changed in Macaw's Trapdoors between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Macaw's Trapdoors 1.1.5, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. The only detailed changelog in the sources here is the one for 1.1.4, so that is what is covered below.[2][5]

Version 1.1.4

This update added new trapdoors, refreshed the wooden textures and fixed a long list of small issues.[5]

  • Added: a Whispering variant and a Bamboo Bark Trapdoor.[5]
  • Changed: all wooden textures were updated and improved so the colors match better.[5]
  • Removed: 342 json files. Instead of using 3 model files, the mod now uses a single one that is rotated in the blockstate to give the same result.[5]
  • Fixed: the Cherry Bark Trapdoor had no lang entry, and the Cherry classic trapdoor was using the four panel trapdoor texture.[5]
  • Fixed: the Birch Cottage Trapdoor was gray instead of brown.[5]
  • Fixed: 4 unused json files that spammed the log were removed.[5]
  • Fixed: Cherry, Blossom and Barrel trapdoors could not be used as fuel.[5]
  • Fixed: the item tooltip was not showing.[5]
  • Translations: fr_fr (by Samlegamer) and tr_tr (by RuyaSavascisi) were added, and es_cl (by Ganbare-Lucifer) and ru_ru (by cutiegin) were updated.[5]

Unverified The sources here do not show any pack changelog entries for Macaw's Trapdoors, so check the pack's own changelogs for any pack-specific changes to this mod.
