What is KeybindsPurger?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

KeybindsPurger is a small utility mod that unsets keybinds in bulk. It can clear every keybind in one category, in all categories, or only in the non-vanilla (modded) categories. It does nothing else.[1]

It's for you if you like starting a new modpack with a clean slate and only binding keys when you actually need them. The author built it for exactly that habit. A big pack like this one adds a lot of modded keybinds, so clearing them in one go can save time.[1]

The buttons it adds

You'll find everything in the keybinds menu. Next to each category name there are two buttons on the left: "x" purges that category and "r" resets it. There are also two buttons at the bottom left of the screen.[1]

  • "A" unsets all keybinds.[1]
  • "M" unsets only modded keybinds, so your vanilla controls stay as they are.[1]
  • "x" on a category purges just that category, and "r" resets it.[1]
Tip: If you only want to clear out the mod clutter, use "M" rather than "A". "A" unsets every keybind, so you would have to rebind whatever you still need.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes KeybindsPurger 1.4.0, built for NeoForge 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier. The sources don't show any pack-specific changes to the mod.[2]

Unverified The sources don't place KeybindsPurger anywhere in the pack's progression. No quests involve it, and it isn't on the ATM Star path, so treat it purely as a quality-of-life tool you can use at any point.

How do you get started with KeybindsPurger?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

KeybindsPurger is a small utility mod that unsets keybinds for you. It doesn't add anything to craft, so your first steps are all in the controls menu. The idea is to wipe the slate clean when you start a new modpack, then bind only the keys you actually need.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Open the keybinds menu from the game's controls settings. This is where the mod adds its buttons.[1]
  2. Look at the bottom left of the screen. There are two buttons there: "A" unsets ALL keybinds, and "M" only targets modded keybinds.[1]
  3. If you only want to clear part of the list, look to the left of a category's name. There are two buttons there: "x" purges that category and "r" resets it.[1]
  4. Bind keys again only when you need them. That is the workflow the mod's author uses when starting a new pack.[1]
Tip: If you want to keep your vanilla controls as they are, use "M" to clear only the modded keybinds. Use "A" only when you really want a blank slate.[1]
Watch out: "A" unsets every keybind, not just the modded ones. Be ready to bind the keys you need afterwards, such as movement.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any pack-specific changes, quests or recipes for this mod, so everything above describes the mod's general behavior.

How does KeybindsPurger work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

This one is refreshingly simple. KeybindsPurger is a small utility mod with no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. Its only job is to unset keybinds for you, so the mechanics come down to a handful of buttons in the controls screen.[1]

What it can unset

The mod can unset all keybinds in a single category, all keybinds in every category, or only the keybinds in non-vanilla categories. That covers the whole feature set.[1]

The buttons

  • Next to each category's name in the keybinds menu you get two buttons. The "x" button purges that category.[1]
  • The other button beside the category name is "r", which resets that category.[1]
  • Two more buttons sit in the bottom left of the screen. "A" unsets ALL keybinds.[1]
  • "M" only targets modded keybinds, so your vanilla bindings stay as they are.[1]
Tip: In a big pack, use "M" to wipe only the modded keybinds and keep the vanilla ones. Then bind just the mod actions you actually need. The mod's author does the same when starting a new modpack, because it keeps things simpler.[1]
Watch out: "A" unsets every keybind, not just the modded ones. Think about whether you want that before you press it.[1]

Unverified The exact behavior of the "r" reset button (for example, whether it restores default keys) is not spelled out in the available material. Pack-specific changes to the mod are also unconfirmed, so treat the behavior above as the mod's general behavior.

What changed in KeybindsPurger between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships KeybindsPurger 1.4.0, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. Here is what the mod's own changelogs say about the releases leading up to that version.[3]

Mod releases

  • 1.4.0 (the version in this pack): the mod was rewritten, with the stated hope of fixing the crashes with Controlling. French and Chinese translations were also added.[3][4]
  • 1.3.4: fixed issue 6 on the mod's issue tracker. The changelog doesn't say what the issue was about.[5]
  • 1.3.3: fixed issue 2 on the mod's issue tracker. The changelog doesn't say what the issue was about.[6]

The 1.4.0 changelog says the rewrite should "hopefully" fix the Controlling crashes, so it is a best-effort fix rather than a confirmed one.[4]
