What is Easy Villagers?

Easy Villagers is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.1.42 of the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]

It has been in the pack since version 1.7 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

I can't describe what the mod's items and blocks do here, because I have no in-pack details about its mechanics, recipes or configs. I'd rather leave that out than guess and give you a wrong value.[1]

How do you get started with Easy Villagers?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide

Easy Villagers adds a set of machines to this pack: the Trader, Incubator, Breeder, Farmer, Converter, Iron Farm and Auto Trader. Each one is a shaped crafting recipe. Below is the order I'd go in, based on how demanding each recipe looks.[2]

Suggested order

  1. Start with the Trader. Its recipe has one of the shortest ingredient lists in the mod, so it's an easy first machine.[2]
  2. Next, make the Incubator, which is just as short on ingredient types.[2]
  3. Then craft the Breeder. Its recipe adds a bit more variety, but nothing out of the ordinary.[2]
  4. After that, make the Farmer, Converter and Iron Farm in whatever order suits you.[2]
  5. Save the Auto Trader for last. It's the only machine in the mod whose recipe calls for netherite, so expect to need some progress in the pack first.[2]

Tip: Several recipes accept any item from a tag, such as any colorless glass pane or any iron ingot, so whichever version you have on hand will work. Check the recipe blocks above for the exact in-pack layouts.[2]

Unverified What each machine does in practice and how to use it is not shown in the sources here. No quests in this pack involve the mod, and no guidebook or in-game descriptions were found, so the order above is based on the recipes only.

How does Easy Villagers work?

4 parts

Easy Villagers adds a set of villager machines: the Breeder, Incubator, Converter, Farmer, Iron Farm, Trader and Auto Trader. The sources I have only cover part of how they work, so this section sticks to what can be confirmed.[3]

Villagers as items

The mod has its own Villager and Baby Villager items, so villagers can exist as items you carry and put into machines. The mod also has a "Pick Up" key binding, which is how you grab villagers in the world.[3]

What the machine screens show

The mod's screen text gives some hints about what the machines handle. You will see these labels in the machine interfaces:[3]

  • Villager Input and Villager Output: machines that take villagers in and push them out.[3]
  • Input Items, Output Items and Output: item slots for what goes into a machine and what comes out.[3]
  • Food Items: a dedicated food slot area on some machines.[3]
  • Villager Equipment and Villager Inventory: screens for looking at what a villager carries and wears. There is also an Inventory Viewer block for this.[3]

The mod also has a "Cycle Trades" key binding, which relates to choosing trades on a villager.[3]

Breaking a machine keeps its contents

Every machine block (Auto Trader, Breeder, Converter, Farmer, Incubator, Iron Farm and Trader) drops itself when broken, and the drop uses the mod's own copy_block_entity function. That means the block's stored data is copied onto the dropped item, so you can move a machine without starting from scratch.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Tip: Because the machines carry their stored data into the dropped item, picking one up with a villager inside is how you relocate a setup. Check the contents after placing it again to be sure everything came along.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]

Farmer crop restrictions

The mod has an item tag called invalid_farmer_crop for crops the Farmer cannot use. In this pack, it lists Tomato Seeds, marked as optional so it only applies when that item exists.[11]

Unverified Machine speeds, ranges, breeding and trading mechanics, and how the machines connect to hoppers or pipes for automation could not be confirmed from the available sources.

How do you progress through Easy Villagers?

4 parts

Easy Villagers has no strict tier ladder in this pack. Every machine is a shaped crafting recipe, and none of them needs another Easy Villagers block as an ingredient. You can craft them in whatever order suits your villager setup.[12]

The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipe for each machine. The Auto Trader has its own recipe, separate from the Trader, so check both.[12]

Good to know

  • When you break any of these machines, the block drops itself with its block entity data copied onto the item. This applies to the Auto Trader, Breeder, Converter, Farmer, Incubator, Iron Farm and Trader.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
  • The mod ships an invalid farmer crop item tag. It lists Farmer's Delight tomato seeds as an optional entry, so those seeds are on the list of items the Farmer does not accept as a crop.[11]
