What is Bad Wither No Cookie - Reloaded?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Bad Wither No Cookie - Reloaded is a small quality-of-life mod that deals with some of Minecraft's loudest moments. Normally the wither spawning, the ender dragon dying and thunder are broadcast so that everyone hears them, no matter where they are. This mod localizes those sounds, and it can also silence other sounds you choose to configure, including sounds added by other mods.[1]
This pack includes version 3.20.2 of the mod, running on NeoForge.[2]
Who it's for
If you play on a server, this one is for you. When someone runs a wither or dragon farm or uses spawners for these mobs, those world-wide sounds can fire over and over for everyone online. With this mod installed you won't have to listen to every wither and dragon somebody else is farming.[1]
Since 1.18.2 the mod runs only on the client, so it works on your own game even if the server doesn't have it installed.[1]
What it can silence
- The wither spawn sound and the wither death sound.[1]
- The ender dragon death sound.[1]
- Lightning and thunder.[1]
- Wandering trader and llama ambient sounds.[1]
- Any other sound you add in the config file, including sounds from other mods.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
This isn't a progression mod. It's a lightweight sound tweak, and its whole job is to keep other players' boss farms and big storms from filling up your speakers.[1]
Unverified The project page says the sounds it lists are 'disabled by default' and that console messages about silenced sounds are also turned off by default. It's unclear whether this means those sounds are already silenced right after install or whether you need to enable them in the config yourself.
How do you get started with Bad Wither No Cookie - Reloaded?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: there's nothing to craft here. This mod is a sound silencer, not a content mod. It quiets the loud world-wide broadcast sounds that play no matter how far away you are.[1]
The sources I have don't show any items, recipes or quests for it in this pack, so there's no first-items-to-make order and no recipe to show. I'd rather say that than invent a progression.[1]
What it does
The project page says the mod silences these sounds: wither, End Dragon, thunder, and any other sound that any mod makes. It's especially handy on servers where spawners or farms for those mobs are running.[1]
Your first steps
- Install it on your client only. From 1.18.2 onward the mod is client-sided and no longer runs on the server, so it can be on your client even if the server doesn't have it.[1]
- Know the defaults. The project page lists the sound types it mentions as disabled by default, and the console output for a silenced sound is also silenced by default. The page doesn't say whether this pack changed any of that, so check the config file yourself.[1]
- Find the name of a sound you want gone. Use the /listen command, which shows event sound names, then add the sound you care about to the config file.[1]
Unverified This pack's exact config values, the config option names, and whether any sounds are silenced out of the box in this pack are not confirmed by the available sources.
How does Bad Wither No Cookie - Reloaded work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide
This mod has no machines, multiblocks, power or item logistics. It is a lightweight utility that handles one annoying thing: the world-wide broadcast sounds that some events play for everyone. It localizes the wither and dragon death sounds so you aren't blasted by them from wherever they happen.[1]
This is especially handy on multiplayer servers where people run spawners or farms for these mobs, because those broadcast sounds can otherwise go off again and again.[1]
What it can silence
- Wither sounds, including the wither spawn sound and the wither death sound.[1]
- The End Dragon death sound.[1]
- Lightning and thunder.[1]
- Wandering trader and llama ambient sounds, which the mod added in 1.16.1 and newer.[1]
- Any other sound that any mod makes, as long as you configure it.[1]
Client-side only
From 1.18.2 onward, the mod no longer runs on the server at all. It is purely client-sided, so you can install it on your own game even if the server doesn't have it. In 1.17.x and lower it had to be on both sides, but that doesn't apply to modern versions.[1]
Config file and finding sound names
Everything is controlled through a config file. The project page says all the sound types listed above are disabled by default. It also says the console message that normally appears when a sound gets silenced is turned off by default, so your log doesn't get spammed.[1]
To silence a sound from another mod, you need its event sound name. The mod adds the /listen command, which shows you event sound names so you can find the one you want to block and add it to the config.[1]
Unverified This pack doesn't ship a config file for this mod, so the exact settings you'll get in the pack, the config file's name and location, and the exact format for adding extra sounds can't be confirmed here.
Which Bad Wither No Cookie - Reloaded config options matter?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.11 guide
There's good news here: the pack doesn't ship any config changes for this mod, so everything runs on the mod's own defaults. That means the behaviour described below is exactly what you get out of the box, and anything you want to change you change yourself on your own client.[1]
The mod does have a config file, and by default it already silences every sound type it covers: the wither spawn broadcast, the wither death sound, the ender dragon death, lightning and thunder, plus wandering trader and llama ambient sounds. In other words, you don't have to touch anything to get the quiet you installed it for.[1]
The other default worth knowing about is the console output. When the mod silences a sound it can print a line about it, and that logging is itself disabled by default, so your log stays clean.[1]
Adding your own sounds
The config isn't limited to the built-in list. You can add any sound that any mod makes, which is the main reason to open the file at all. To find the name of the sound you want gone, run the /listen command in game and it will show you event sound names as they play.[1]
Unverified The exact config file name, its location in your instance folder and the individual key names aren't covered by the sources available for this pack, so check the mod's config folder in game rather than assuming a particular layout.
