What is Ars Controle?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Controle is an addon for Ars Nouveau that is all about giving you more control over your magic setups. If you already play with Ars Nouveau in the pack, this mod adds utility blocks, a couple of handy items and extra spell glyphs on top.[1]

The pack ships version 1.21.1-1.6.15 of the mod, and it has been in the pack since at least version 4.3.[2]

What it adds

  • Warping Spell Prism: warps a spell projectile anywhere in the world, even across dimensions. It can also be configured through CC: Tweaked, but only for block positions, not entities.[1]
  • Scryer's Linkage: links to another block so machines can interact with it from far away. It can link items, liquids, energy, redstone and a few other things. Use a Dominion Wand on the target block first, then the linkage.[1]
  • Temporal Stability Sensor: shows how unstable the world's time is. Read it with a comparator, where a higher redstone output means the world is closer to lagging. You can use it to switch off farms automatically.[1]
  • Warp Scroll Holder: replaces one of your portal frames so you can open and close warp portals to your chosen destinations. You insert a Warp Scroll while having some Source within 10 blocks (Manhattan distance).[1]
  • Remote: configures the blocks and entities that the Dominion Wand can, from a distance. It has radial menus for which end of a connection is locked and for single or multiple selection.[1]
  • Portable Brazier Relay: lets you carry the effects of a ritual with you, for example Flight or Sanctuary. The ritual brazier has to stay loaded and have a supply of Source.[1]

Spell glyphs

Spellcasters also get new glyphs. Adaptive filters (NOT, OR, XOR and XNOR) change or combine the behaviour of the filters that follow them. Y-level filters (Above, Level, Below and Random) decide whether a spell resolves based on height relative to the caster, or by chance. Precise Delay delays the rest of your spell by a number of ticks that depends on your Extend Time augments.[1]

Who it is for

This mod is for Ars Nouveau players who want to automate and fine-tune their setups. That covers remote linking of inventories, farm shutoff to reduce lag, portable ritual effects and more precise spell logic.[1]

Unverified The sources do not show where Ars Controle fits in the pack's progression, and no quests or ATM Star path entries for this mod could be confirmed.

How do you get started with Ars Controle?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Controle is an addon for Ars Nouveau that is all about control: moving spells around, linking machines from a distance, and fine-tuning your glyphs. Here is the order I'd go in, starting with the quick wins.[1]

Warp Scroll Holder first

Start with the Warp Scroll Holder. It's a normal shaped crafting recipe, so you don't need an altar or apparatus for it.[3]

Crafting Shaped

8 × Sourcestone Slab

Recipe id: ars_controle:scroll_holder

It makes opening and closing warp portals easy. Swap one of your portal frames for the holder in an appropriate direction, then insert a Warp Scroll while you have some Source within 10 blocks (Manhattan distance).[1]

Remote and Scryer's Linkage

Next come the tools that help you wire up a base from a distance. Both are Enchanting Apparatus recipes.[1][3]

RemoteMod recipe

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:remote

The Remote lets you configure remotely the blocks and entities that the Dominion Wand can. Crouch and use it on the thing you want to configure, then use it again on other blocks or entities. Left-clicking air clears its target.[1]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:scryers_linkage

The Scryer's Linkage links to another block so machines can reach it from far away. It can link items, liquids, energy, redstone and a few other things. To set it up, use a Dominion Wand on the block you want to link to first, then use the linkage.[1]

Filter glyphs

The filter glyphs decide whether the rest of your spell resolves. Glyph Filter Not only resolves the spell if the result of the next Filter is false. Glyph Filter Above, Glyph Filter Level and Glyph Filter Below limit the spell to above the caster, at the caster's elevation, or below the caster.[3][4]

Glyph Filter Xor only resolves the spell if only one of the next 2 Filters is true.[3][4]

The pack changed the recipes for the OR, XNOR and Random filters, so don't trust recipes from other guides for those.[3]

Recipe id: ars_controle:glyph_filter_random

Glyph Filter Or resolves if any of the next 2 Filters are true. Glyph Filter Xnor resolves if the results of both of the next 2 Filters are equal. Glyph Filter Random has a base 50% chance of resolving, and Amplify or Dampen shifts that chance.[3][4]

Glyph (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:glyph_precise_delay

Glyph Precise Delay delays the rest of the spell by 2 to the power of your Extend Time augments, in ticks.[3][4]

How does Ars Controle work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Controle is an addon for Ars Nouveau that is all about giving you more control. It adds a handful of utility blocks and items, plus new glyphs that let you decide when and where a spell resolves.[1]

Utility blocks

The Warping Spell Prism warps a spell projectile to anywhere in the world, even across dimensions. It can also be configured through CC: Tweaked, but only for block positions, not entities. That makes it a good fit for advanced setups.[1]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:warping_spell_prism

The Scryer's Linkage links to another block so machines can interact with that block from far away. It can link items, liquids, energy, redstone and a few other things. To set it up, use a Dominion Wand on the block you want to link to first, then use the linkage.[1][3]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:scryers_linkage

The Temporal Stability Sensor shows how unstable the world's time is. Read it with a comparator: the higher the redstone output, the closer the world is to lagging. You can use that signal to switch off farms automatically before the server starts to lag.[1]

Tip: Read the Temporal Stability Sensor with a comparator and use that redstone signal to turn your farms off automatically when the world gets close to lagging.[1]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:temporal_stability_sensor

The Warp Scroll Holder makes opening and closing warp portals easy. Replace one of your portal frames with it in an appropriate direction, then insert a Warp Scroll while you have some Source within 10 blocks (Manhattan distance).[1]

Crafting Shaped

8 × Sourcestone Slab

Recipe id: ars_controle:scroll_holder

Remote and Portable Brazier Relay

The Remote lets you configure the same blocks and entities the Dominion Wand can, but remotely. It has two radial menus. Hold Shift to choose which end of the connection is locked (first or second). Without Shift, you choose the selection mode (single or multiple).[1]

  1. Crouch and use the Remote on the thing you want to configure.[1]
  2. Use it again on other blocks or entities, depending on what the thing you are configuring accepts.[1]
  3. When you are finished, left-click air to clear the Remote's target.[1]

For example, selecting a Storage Lectern with Locking Last lets you link inventories easily. Selecting a Starbuncle with Locking First lets you pick many inventories for it to deposit items into.[1]

RemoteMod recipe

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:remote

The Portable Brazier Relay lets you carry a ritual's effects with you. The ritual brazier has to stay loaded and keep a supply of Source. The mod's own examples are carrying a Flight ritual, a Sanctuary ritual for easier night exploring, or a Conjure Island ritual.[1]

Recipe id: ars_controle:portable_brazier_relay

Filter glyphs

The filter glyphs decide whether the rest of a spell resolves. The adaptive filters take the result of the filters that come after them and combine or flip it.[1][4]

Random filter and Precise Delay

Glyph Filter Random has a base 50% chance of resolving. If it is amplified overall, the chance becomes (100% - 50% / (2 ^ Amplification)). If it is dampened overall, the chance becomes (50% / (2 ^ Dampening)). Amplify increases the chance of resolving and Dampen decreases it.[3][4]

Glyph Precise Delay delays the rest of the spell by (2 ^ Extend Time Augments) ticks.[3][4]

Recipes changed by the pack

This pack changes the glyph recipes for the Or, Random and XNOR filters, so they won't match the mod's defaults. The other Ars Controle recipes in the pack are the mod's own. Here are the pack's versions of the changed glyphs.[3]

How do you progress through Ars Controle?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Controle items in this pack are made in different ways, so the in-pack recipes give you a natural order to work through. Below, everything is grouped by crafting method, and each recipe card shows the exact in-pack recipe.[3]

Crafting table: the Warp Scroll Holder

The Warp Scroll Holder is the only item from this mod made with a standard shaped crafting recipe, so it's a good one to pick up first.[3]

Glyphs

Next come the glyphs. Every glyph recipe from this mod uses the Ars Nouveau glyph recipe type. The pack has changed some of them and left others as the mod made them.[3]

How does Ars Controle work with other mods?

3 parts

Ars Controle is an addon for Ars Nouveau, and in this pack every one of its recipes builds on Ars Nouveau items. If you already run Ars Nouveau, you have everything you need to start. The pack's quest book has no quests for this mod, so the recipes below are your guide.[1][5]

Enchanting Apparatus upgrades

Most of the mod's blocks and items are made in Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus. Each one takes an Ars Nouveau item as its base and upgrades it.[5]

The Remote builds on the Dominion Wand. It lets you configure from a distance the blocks and entities that the wand can configure.[1][5]

RemoteMod recipe

The Scryer's Linkage builds on the Scry Crystal. It links to another block so machines can reach that block from far away, including items, liquids, energy and redstone. To set it up, use a Dominion Wand on the target block first, then the linkage.[1][5]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

The Warping Spell Prism builds on the Spell Prism. It warps a spell projectile to anywhere in the world, even across dimensions.[1][5]

The Portable Brazier Relay builds on the Ritual Brazier Relay. It lets you carry the effects of a ritual with you, but the ritual brazier has to stay loaded and keep a supply of Source.[1][5]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:portable_brazier_relay

The Temporal Stability Sensor starts from an Source Gem Block. Put a comparator next to it and a higher redstone output means the world is closer to lagging, which you can use to switch off farms automatically.[1][5]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

Recipe id: ars_controle:temporal_stability_sensor

Warp Scroll Holder

The Warp Scroll Holder is the one item here that skips the Enchanting Apparatus: it is crafted from a single Sourcestone Slab. Swap it in for a portal frame, insert a Warp Scroll, and keep some Source within 10 blocks (Manhattan distance) to open and close the portal.[1][5]

Crafting Shaped

8 × Sourcestone Slab

Recipe id: ars_controle:scroll_holder

Glyph recipes

The mod's glyphs use Ars Nouveau's glyph recipe type. The above, below, level, not and random filter glyphs all start from an Item Scroll: Allow, combined with one extra item each. The random filter uses the Ars Nouveau Glyph Randomize glyph for that role.[5]
