What is Radical Gyms & Structures [Cobblemon]?

1 part

This mod is a datapack that adds naturally generating, survival-friendly gym structures to your world. They house the 8 Kanto gym leaders, the Elite 4 and the champion from the Radical Cobblemon Trainers mod. The pack includes it, so you can find these trainers in the world instead of waiting for them to spawn.[1][2]

The project page currently pitches it at players who are tired of walking around and waiting for gym leaders to spawn, and who would rather have a proper building to go and challenge.[1]

What the project page currently lists

  • Currently listed: Pewter Gym (Brock)[1]
  • Currently listed: Cerulean Gym (Misty)[1]
  • Currently listed: Vermilion Gym (Lt. Surge)[1]
  • Currently listed: Celadon Gym (Erika)[1]
  • Currently listed: Fuchsia Gym (Koga)[1]
  • Currently listed: Saffron Gym (Sabrina)[1]
  • Currently listed: Cinnabar Gym (Blaine), which is in the Nether[1]
  • Currently listed: Blackthorn Gym (Claire), which is in the End[1]
  • Currently listed: League Building (Elite 4 and Champion), which is in the End[1]

The author plans to add more later: a battle tower, a Team Rocket hideout, a structure for rival encounters and a post-game structure for Trainer Red. None of these exist yet. The author also says there are no plans for structures for the BDSP series.[1]

Watch out: The project page currently says the mod is in beta, so expect bugs and make regular backups of your world. It also needs command blocks enabled on your server to work.[1]
Tip: The author highly recommends a structure-locating mod such as Explorer's Compass to help you find these buildings. They also recommend the Radical Cobblemon Trainer Textures Plus resource pack for accurate trainer skins. I can't confirm from my sources whether either is part of this pack.[1]

The project page currently lists Cobblemon, Radical Cobblemon Trainers, RCT API and CobbleFurnies as its dependencies.[1]

Unverified I have no confirmed information on where this mod fits in the pack's progression, and no quests or ATM Star path steps that involve it. The pack's exact version of the mod and any pack-specific changes to its structures are also unconfirmed.

How do you get started with Radical Gyms & Structures [Cobblemon]?

3 parts

This mod is a datapack that adds naturally generating, survival friendly gym structures. At the moment these are for the key trainers featured in the Radical Cobblemon Trainers mod, so your first steps are about finding the structures.[1]

Watch out: The datapack is currently in beta, so expect bugs. Make regular backups of your world. On a server, command blocks must be enabled or the datapack won't work.[1]

What you'll be looking for

The structures house the 8 Kanto gym leaders, the Elite 4 and the Champion. You don't have to wait around for gym leaders to spawn, because the gyms generate naturally in the world. Here's what's in right now:[1]

  • Currently available: Pewter Gym (Brock)[1]
  • Currently available: Cerulean Gym (Misty)[1]
  • Currently available: Vermilion Gym (Lt. Surge)[1]
  • Currently available: Celadon Gym (Erika)[1]
  • Currently available: Fuchsia Gym (Koga)[1]
  • Currently available: Saffron Gym (Sabrina)[1]
  • Currently available: Cinnabar Gym (Blaine), which is listed as a Nether structure[1]
  • Currently available: Blackthorn Gym (Claire), which is listed as an End structure[1]
  • Currently available: League Building (Elite 4 and Champion), which is also listed as an End structure[1]

Your first steps

  1. Back up your world before you go exploring, since the datapack is currently in beta.[1]
  2. The project page says you need command blocks enabled on your server for the datapack to function, so check that if you're playing on one.[1]
  3. Get a way to locate structures. The mod's author highly recommends a helper mod such as Explorer's Compass.[1]
  4. Keep in mind that Cinnabar Gym is currently listed as a Nether structure, and Blackthorn Gym and the League Building as End structures, so those need a trip to those dimensions.[1]
  5. Optionally, add the Radical Cobblemon Trainer Textures Plus resource pack, which the author recommends on the project page for accurate trainer skins.[1]

What it depends on

The project page currently lists these dependencies: Cobblemon, Radical Cobblemon Trainers, RCT API and CobbleFurnies.[1]

The author plans to add more structures later: a battle tower, a Team Rocket hideout, a structure for rival encounters and a post-game structure for Trainer Red. For now these are only plans on the project page.[1]

Unverified The sources here show no crafting recipes, quests or in-game guidebook entries for this mod in this pack, so there are no recipe steps in this section. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Radical Gyms & Structures [Cobblemon] work?

3 parts

This one is a datapack that adds structures, so the sources describe no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling. What it does is add gym structures that generate naturally in your world and house the trainers from Radical Cobblemon Trainers.[1]

What the datapack does

  • It adds naturally generating, survival-friendly gym structures, so you don't have to wait around for gym leaders to spawn.[1]
  • The structures house the 8 Kanto gym leaders, the Elite 4 and the Champion featured in the Radical Cobblemon Trainers mod.[1]
  • Command blocks must be enabled on your server, or the datapack won't function.[1]
  • It depends on Cobblemon, Radical Cobblemon Trainers, RCT API and CobbleFurnies.[1]

Which structures exist

Right now the datapack covers the Kanto gyms and the Kanto league. Some of them are marked for other dimensions, so plan your trips.[1]

  • Pewter Gym (Brock), Cerulean Gym (Misty), Vermilion Gym (Lt. Surge), Celadon Gym (Erika), Fuchsia Gym (Koga) and Saffron Gym (Sabrina).[1]
  • Cinnabar Gym (Blaine) is tagged for the Nether.[1]
  • Blackthorn Gym (Claire) is tagged for the End.[1]
  • The League Building (Elite 4 and Champion) is tagged for the End.[1]

Finding them

The author highly recommends using a locator mod such as Explorer's Compass to track these structures down. They also suggest the Radical Cobblemon Trainer Textures Plus resource pack so the trainers get accurate skins.[1]

Watch out: The datapack is in beta and bugs are to be expected. Make regular backups of your world.[1]

More structures are planned: a battle tower, a Team Rocket hideout, a rival encounter structure and a post-game structure for Trainer Red. The author says they don't intend to add structures for the BDSP series. None of the planned ones are in the datapack yet.[1]

What changed in Radical Gyms & Structures [Cobblemon] between versions?

2 parts

Radical Gyms & Structures has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.11.0-beta or earlier, and it is included in 1.3.0. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelog. That changelog doesn't say which release each change landed in, and the mod version in the pack isn't listed either, so I can't tie these changes to specific pack versions.[2][3]

Added

  • The Kanto league, located in the End. You face the elite 4 and then the champion.[3]

Fixed and changed

  • Summoned NPC trainers now get a slowness effect, so they can't walk around and instantly leave their structure.[3]
  • The necessary tags were added to the End structure sets, so they no longer spawn in the void.[3]
  • Several backend spelling mistakes were fixed, which lets all structures spawn correctly in the world.[3]
  • Viridian gym was changed to Blackthorn gym, because Claire is the last gym leader instead of Giovanni in RCT.[3]
  • The gym structure was edited slightly to leave more room below the buildings.[3]
  • Basalt deltas were removed from the Cinnabar gym spawn pool, because they caused strange generation.[3]
Tip: If you're hunting for the Kanto league, remember it is located in the End.[3]
