What is Immersive Energistics?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Immersive Energistics is the official Immersive Engineering support addon for AE2. Right now it does one thing: it adds ME-capable wires, so you can carry your Applied Energistics network over Immersive Engineering-style wire runs instead of only using normal AE2 cables.[1]

The pack includes version 1.1.0-beta of the mod.[2]

What you get

  • ME Connector: lets you hook wires up to AE2 devices and cables. It only accepts one ME wire connection, dense or not.[1]
  • ME Relay: accepts multiple ME wire connections, but it does not connect to AE2 devices and cables. Use it to branch or join wire runs.[1]
  • ME Wire Coil: the standard ME wire. It can transmit up to 8 channels with AE2's default channel mode.[1]
  • Dense ME Wire Coil: the dense version. It can transmit up to 32 channels with AE2's default channel mode.[1]

Who it's for

This one is for you if you already use both AE2 and Immersive Engineering and want to link ME devices across a distance with wires. The Connector joins the wire to your AE2 network, and the Relay lets you split the run. If you pick a wire, remember the channel limits above: 8 for standard, 32 for dense.[1]

Unverified Where the mod fits in progression is not confirmed. No quests involving it and no in-jar guidebook were found, and it is not on the ATM Star path, so treat it as an optional convenience addon rather than a required step.

How do you get started with Immersive Energistics?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Immersive Energistics is the official Immersive Engineering support addon for AE2, and it currently adds ME-capable wires. That means you can carry an AE2 network over wires. The mod gives you a connector, a relay, and standard and dense wire coils, so the job is to work out which of them your setup needs.[1]

The items below are made with shaped crafting recipes that come from the mod, and the recipe blocks show the exact in-pack versions.[3]

Start with the ME Connector

Make the ME Connector first. It is the piece that lets wires connect to AE2 devices and cables. It only accepts one ME wire connection, dense or not, so think of it as the end point of a wire run.[1]

Craft the ME Wire Coil

Next comes the ME Wire Coil, the standard ME wire. It can transmit up to 8 channels with AE2's default channel mode, which is a good fit for a first small network.[1]

Add an ME Relay to join wires

A connector takes only one wire, so when you want several wires to meet at a single point, craft the ME Relay. It accepts multiple ME wire connections, but it does not connect to AE2 devices and cables. You still need a connector wherever your wire run meets the AE2 network.[1]

Upgrade to the Dense ME Wire Coil

When 8 channels is no longer enough, switch to the Dense ME Wire Coil. Dense ME wires can transmit up to 32 channels with AE2's default channel mode.[1]

Tip: Both channel limits are given for AE2's default channel mode, so plan your wire runs around those numbers. The connector accepts dense and standard wire alike, so you can upgrade a run later without changing it.[1]

How does Immersive Energistics work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Immersive Energistics is a small addon, so there are no machines or multiblocks to learn here. It's the official Immersive Engineering support addon for AE2, and right now all it adds is ME-capable wires. Those wires let you carry an AE2 network across distances the way you'd run Immersive Engineering wire.[1]

Connectors and relays

The two wire endpoints do different jobs, so pick the right one for each spot in your network.[1]

  • ME Connector is the piece that attaches wires to AE2 devices and cables. It accepts only one ME wire connection, dense or not.[1]
  • ME Relay accepts multiple ME wire connections, but it does not connect to AE2 devices and cables. Use it to join or branch wire runs, not to plug into your network.[1]

In practice, you put a connector at each end of a run where it meets AE2 gear, and use relays in the middle if the wire needs to split or pass through several links.[1]

Wire coils and channel capacity

The wire you run between connectors comes in two tiers. ME Wire Coil is the standard ME wire and can transmit up to 8 channels. Dense ME Wire Coil is the dense version and can transmit up to 32 channels. Both numbers assume AE2's default channel mode.[1]

That makes the dense coil the one to use for a trunk line carrying a lot of devices, while the standard coil is fine for smaller branches.[1]

Tip: The dense coil is crafted from a dense AE2 cable and the standard coil from a regular AE2 glass cable, so the recipes mirror the two channel tiers. Check the recipe blocks above for the exact in-pack layouts.[3]

Unverified The available sources don't describe power use, fluid handling, wire length limits or automation behavior for this addon, and the pack has no config files for it. Treat anything beyond the connector, relay and channel rules above as unconfirmed.

How do you progress through Immersive Energistics?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Every Immersive Energistics item in this pack comes from a shaped crafting recipe, and the mod's recipes use AE2 Fluix materials. The recipes below show exactly what each item needs in this pack.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest for this mod, so there is no quest-guided order to follow. Check the pack's quest book yourself if you want to see whether anything related to AE2 points you toward it.

Wire coils

The mod has a standard coil, the ME Wire Coil, and a dense version, the Dense ME Wire Coil. Each has its own shaped recipe in the pack.[3]

How does Immersive Energistics work with other mods?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Immersive Energistics is the bridge between Immersive Engineering and Applied Energistics 2. It adds ME-capable wires, so you can run your ME network over Immersive Engineering-style wire connections instead of only using AE2 cables. Every in-pack recipe that links the two mods uses AE2 items.[1][3]

Connecting wires to your ME network

The ME Connector is the piece that joins wires to AE2 devices and cables. It only accepts one ME wire connection, dense or not. The pack makes it from AE2's Fluix materials.[1][3]

The ME Relay is different. It accepts multiple ME wire connections, but it does not connect to AE2 devices and cables. Use it to branch a wire run, and use the connector at the ends where you plug into your network. It is also crafted from AE2 Fluix materials.[1][3]

The wires themselves

The ME Wire Coil is the standard ME wire. In this pack it is crafted from an AE2 Fluix ME Glass Cable plus a wooden rod.[1][3]

The Dense ME Wire Coil is the dense version. It is crafted the same way, but from an AE2 Fluix ME Dense Covered Cable instead of the glass cable.[1][3]

Channel capacity

The mod's project page says the standard wire carries up to 8 channels and the dense wire up to 32. Both figures assume AE2's default channel mode.[1]

No quests in this pack involve the mod, so the recipes above are the only confirmed connections between Immersive Energistics and other mods.[3]

What changed in Immersive Energistics between versions?

Good news: there's not much to keep track of here. All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Immersive Energistics 1.1.0-beta, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[4]

The mod has a changelog for 1.1.0-beta, but it only links to the release page and doesn't list the changes in text.[5]

Unverified The specific changes in Immersive Energistics 1.1.0-beta can't be confirmed from the sources available for this guide, and the pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so no pack-specific changes are recorded here.
