What is I'm Fast?

1 part

I'm Fast is a small utility mod that removes Minecraft's "moved too quickly" and "moved wrongly" checks. It does this with a mixin, so you can move faster than vanilla normally allows without the game rubber-banding you back.[1]

It is a server-side mod, so players don't need it installed on the client. On a server, you just drop it into the mods folder and it works.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships I'm Fast 1.0.3, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]

The mod adds no items, blocks or recipes of its own that the sources show, so there is nothing to craft and nothing to set up. It works in the background once it is installed.[1]

How do you get started with I'm Fast?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

I'm Fast is a different kind of mod: it removes the vanilla "moved too quickly" and "moved wrongly" speed limits using mixin, so you can move faster than vanilla normally allows.[1]

How it works

The mod is server side and is not required on the client. To install it on a server, you copy it into the server mods folder and that's it.[1]

So the first step with this mod is simply having it on the server. The sources here don't show any item to craft for it.[1]

How does I'm Fast work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

I'm Fast isn't a content mod with machines, multiblocks or power systems. It's a small utility that changes how the server checks player movement, so there's nothing to build, wire up or automate with it.[1]

What the mod does

It removes vanilla's "moved too quickly" and "moved wrongly" checks. It does this with a mixin, which lets you move faster than vanilla normally allows. The project page describes this as the mod's way of getting past vanilla's speed limits.[1]

Where it runs

The mod is server side, so players don't need it on their client. To install it on a server, copy it into the server's mods folder.[1]

Tip: If other mods in the pack let you move very fast, this is the mod that stops the server from rubber-banding you back or showing the "moved too quickly" message.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm any items, recipes, configuration options, machines, fluid or item handling, or automation features for this mod in the pack, so none are described here. The exact speed thresholds the mod applies are also unverified.

How do you progress through I'm Fast?

4 parts

In this pack, progression runs through the quest book's "Mekanism: Reactors" chapter, which sits in the Tech group (chapter 51 of 70, 92 quests): "Mekanism: Reactors" quest. The chapter starts from one goal: build a Fission Reactor, which needs Fissile Fuel, which needs Sulfur Trioxide. Everything else in the chapter hangs off that chain.[3]

The Fissile Fuel path

  1. Start with the chapter's first quest. Put sulfur into a Chemical Oxidizer to get Sulfur Dioxide, make Oxygen by running water through an Electrolytic Separator, then pipe both into a Chemical Infuser to get Sulfur Trioxide.[3]
  2. "Preparing Uranium" quest covers the radioactive half. Use Uranium Ingots in an Enrichment Chamber to make Yellow Cake Uranium, then bake that in a Chemical Oxidizer to get Uranium Oxide.[3]
  3. "Sulfur Trioxide into Hydrofluoric Acid" quest turns your Sulfur Trioxide into Hydrofluoric Acid. A Rotary Condensentrator makes Water Vapor, the Chemical Infuser combines it with the Sulfur Trioxide into Sulfuric Acid, and a Chemical Dissolution Chamber with Fluorite finishes the job.[3]
  4. "Fissile Fuel" quest combines Uranium Oxide and Hydrofluoric Acid in a Chemical Infuser to make Uranium Hexafluoride. An Isotopic Centrifuge then turns that into Fissile Fuel.[3]
  5. "Fissile Fuel storage and usage" quest covers fuel storage. Fission Fuel Assemblies hold the fuel, and each stack needs a Control Rod Assembly on top or it won't work.[3]
  6. "Fission Reactor" quest is the reactor itself. It unlocks after the Fission Reactor Port, Logic Adapter and fuel storage quests, and the smallest working size is 3x4x3.[3]
Watch out: The Fission Reactor explodes at 250% damage, and damage climbs once the temperature goes over the limit the quest gives, so keep coolant flowing. A full Nuclear Waste bar also causes radiation leaks, so keep waste moving out.[3]

Coolant and what comes after

The Fission Reactor Port quest unlocks two coolant quests. "Water Coolant" quest sets you up with a Sink for water. "Sodium Coolant" quest explains Sodium, which the quest describes as more efficient and able to reach higher temperatures, but harder to get and reuse. Sodium leads on to "Boiler Ports" quest and then "Thermoelectric Boiler" quest.[3]

Once the reactor works, "Radioactivity" quest introduces radioactive waste barrels, and "Hazmat Suit" quest follows it. If you use water as coolant you get Steam, which leads into the turbine quests starting with "Steam" quest and "Making Energy with a Turbine" quest.[3]

Storage tiers

The Energized Induction Matrix quest needs three earlier quests done first: Induction Ports, Providers and Cells. Cells add storage and their totals stack. The quest text gives these capacities per cell:[3]

"QIO Drives" quest describes the QIO Drive tiers. A QIO Drive Array takes up to 12 drives, and the quest lists each drive's limits:[3]

Gear progression

"Atomic Dissambler" quest comes first, and "Meka-Tool" quest follows it as the upgraded tool. Instead of modes, the Meka-Tool takes module units. You install those through the "Modification Station" quest, and every module quest in the chapter unlocks after that one.[3]

Unverified 17 of the 92 quests in this chapter are not shown in the sources here. Their text lives in the quest book in game, so check there for anything not covered above.

Which All the Mons quests use I'm Fast?

I can't point you to a quest chapter for this mod. None of the quests I can see ask you to craft, place or use anything from it. The two chapters in front of me are about other mods.[3][4]

The first is the "Mekanism: Reactors" chapter in the Tech group, chapter 51 of 70 in the book, with 92 quests. It opens with "Mekanism: Reactors" quest, and its tasks are all Mekanism and Mekanism Generators items.[3]

The second is the "PneumaticCraft" chapter in the Tech group, chapter 53 of 70, with 125 quests. It starts with "PneumaticCraft: Repressurized" quest, which asks for Compressed Iron Ingots. A few quests branch off it, such as "Moving Pressure" quest and a quest in "PneumaticCraft". I only have the text of 6 of those 125 quests.[4]

The other 119 PneumaticCraft quests are in the quest book, so check that chapter in-game to see exactly what they ask for.[4]

What changed in I'm Fast between versions?

1 part

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships I'm Fast 1.0.3, using the NeoForge 1.21.1 build. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[2]

Mod changelogs

  • 1.0.3 (the version in this pack): the changelog says only "Fix issue #28". It doesn't say what that issue was, so I can't tell you what changed in practice.[2][5]
  • 1.0.2: the changelog entry reads only "port".[6]

The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, and the mod's own changelogs are this short, so there's nothing more to report. Neither entry mentions a change to gameplay values.[5][6]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as imfast, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
