What is Crafting on a Stick?
2 parts
Crafting on a Stick lets you craft items without needing to place a crafting table on the ground. You carry the stations as items and use them in hand to open the workbench.[1]
The mod adds a stick version of each of these stations:[1]
- Crafting Table, the Crafting Table[1][2]
- Anvil[1]
- Loom[1]
- Grindstone[1]
- Cartography Table[1]
- Stonecutter[1]
- Smithing Table[1]
It suits anyone who wants to keep their inventory and base tidy and craft on the move, whether you're out exploring or in the middle of a build.[1][2]
Curios support
The mod works with Curios. Put your favorite workbench on a stick in the designated Curios slot and press a keybind to open it. The mod's default key is V. The quest text also suggests setting your own keybind.[1][2]
Where it fits in this pack
This pack ships Crafting on a Stick version 1.21.0.6. You meet it right at the start, in the New Beginning questline. The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest unlocks after "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", and its task is to obtain the Crafting Table, which the quest calls a Portable Crafting Table.[2][3]
Grab it early and consider putting it in the Curios slot with a keybind set, so you can open it with a single keypress.[1][2]
How do you get started with Crafting on a Stick?
3 parts
Crafting on a Stick lets you use workstations straight from your hand, so you never have to place a block on the ground or run back to one. In this pack, the first thing to make is the Crafting Table on a Stick.[1][2]
Step 1: the Crafting Table on a Stick
The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest in the New Beginning chapter asks you for Crafting Table. It comes after the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft". The quest describes the item as a Portable Crafting Table, so you can craft without running to a block.[2]
The pack changed this recipe compared to the mod's own, so go by the recipe below and not by what you remember from the mod elsewhere.[4]

This is the pack's changed version of the recipe.
Step 2: set up quick access
You can use these items in hand to open the workstation. You can also put one in your Curios slot and press a keybind to open it. The mod's default key is V, and the quest tip suggests setting a keybind for it.[1][2]
Step 3: add the other workstations as you need them
The mod adds more workstations on a stick. Their recipes are the mod's own, and the pack has not changed them. Here they are.[1][4]
- Anvil, with separate recipes for Chipped Anvil and Damaged Anvil.[1][4]
- Smithing Table[1][4]
- Grindstone[1][4]
- Stonecutter[1][4]
- Loom[1][4]
- Cartography Table[1][4]

How does Crafting on a Stick work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.4 guide
The whole idea behind Crafting on a Stick is simple: you get to use a crafting station without placing it on the ground. Each workbench on a stick is an item, and you use it straight from your hand to open that workbench's interface wherever you are.[1]
The workbenches you can carry
Every station below is its own item. Hold the one you need and use it to open that workbench.[1][5]
- Crafting Table opens a crafting table.[1][5]
- Anvil opens an anvil.[1][5]
- Loom opens a loom.[1][5]
- Grindstone opens a grindstone.[1][5]
- Cartography Table opens a cartography table.[1][5]
- Stonecutter opens a stonecutter.[1][5]
- Smithing Table opens a smithing table.[1][5]
In this pack there are also separate items for the other anvil states: Chipped Anvil and Damaged Anvil. Each one has its own recipe, so you can make an anvil on a stick from whichever anvil you have on hand.[5]
Unverified The sources don't say whether using an anvil on a stick wears it down from normal to chipped to damaged, the way a placed anvil can break down. They also don't say if the chipped and damaged versions behave any differently from the normal one.
Using them from a Curios slot
The mod works with Curios. Put your favourite workbench on a stick in its dedicated Curios slot, then press the keybind to open it without holding it. The default key is V, so check your controls if that clashes with another mod.[1]
Unverified The sources don't say how many Curios slots the mod adds, or whether more than one workbench on a stick can be equipped at once.
Crafting the sticks
All of these items are made with normal shaped crafting recipes. The recipes below show exactly how each one is made in this pack.[5]

How do you progress through Crafting on a Stick?
3 parts
There is no tier ladder for this mod in the pack. The quest book gives it a single step, and the rest is a set of portable workstations you can craft whenever you like.[2][4]
The quest: Crafting, but on a Stick
The quest for this mod is "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest, in the New Beginning chapter. It unlocks after "Putting the Craft in Minecraft", and its task is to obtain Crafting Table, a portable crafting table.[2]
The portable crafting table
The pack changed this recipe. It is not the mod's default, so check the recipe below instead of relying on what you remember from other packs.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any crafting table player workstations |
| Empty slot |
Recipe id: crafting_on_a_stick:crafting_table
This recipe is changed by the pack, so it differs from the mod's default.
The other portable workstations
The pack also has portable versions of other workstations. These use the mod's own recipes, and the pack has not changed them. They are not part of the quest, so you can make any of them whenever you want one.[2][4]
- Stonecutter[4]
- Smithing Table[4]
- Grindstone[4]
- Loom[4]
- Cartography Table[4]
- Anvil, plus the worn versions Chipped Anvil and Damaged Anvil[4]
Which All the Mons quests use Crafting on a Stick?
1 part
In this pack, the mod shows up in a single quest, in the New Beginning chapter. It's an early one, so you can grab a portable crafting table right at the start of your run.[2]
Crafting, but on a Stick
The quest "Crafting, but on a Stick" quest unlocks after you finish the quest "Putting the Craft in Minecraft". So you do the normal crafting table step first, then this one shows you how to skip walking back to a block every time.[2]
The task is to obtain Crafting Table. The quest text describes it as a Portable Crafting Table, so you can craft anywhere without placing a block.[2]
Unverified The sources don't say what the quest rewards, or whether any other quest chapter uses this mod, so check the quest book in-game for those details.
What changed in Crafting on a Stick between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Crafting on a Stick 1.21.0.6. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so it is one of the long-standing members of the mod list.[3]
Mod changelog highlights
- 1.21.0.6 (the version in this pack): fixed an item deletion bug.[3][6]
- 1.21.0.4: the wheel popup animation was changed to reduce flashing, and an API for custom wheel items was added.[7]
The pack's own changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there is nothing to report on pack-side changes to it.[3]
