What is Cobblemon PokeNav?
2 parts
Cobblemon PokeNav is inspired by the PokéNav from Pokémon RSE and ORAS. It tells you which Pokémon can appear where you're standing, how likely they are to show up, and what factors affect their spawns. It can also help you track them down with a three-dimensional arrow or a radar item called the PokéFinder.[1]
This pack includes version 2.3.3 of the mod. It's a great fit if you want to hunt a specific Pokémon, like a legendary, without wandering aimlessly and hoping it spawns.[1][2]
What you get
- Pokenav Item Base lists the Pokémon that can spawn in the biome you're in. The buttons on top change the rarity shown, flip the order between most and least common, and refresh the list. Hover over a Pokémon to see its species, spawn chance, and whether it spawns in the sky or on the ground. Click it for time restrictions, blocks it can or can't spawn on, and light levels.[1][3]
- When a listed Pokémon is nearby, a button appears next to it. Click it to get an arrow pointing to the closest one, and right-click to remove the arrow.[3]
- FishingNav predicts what you can fish up. It shows species, rarities and spawn chances based on the closest water biome, like oceans and rivers. You need a PokeRod in your inventory for it to show anything.[1][3]
- The PokéFinder is a radar alternative to a minimap. Hold it out and a map appears in the bottom right of your screen, with an X for each nearby Pokémon, plus your coordinates and a compass. It comes in several colors, for example Pokefinder Item Red and Pokefinder Item Blue.[1][3]
Add-ons and quests
The mod works with add-ons that use Cobblemon's built-in Pokémon spawn system, so it can report spawns from those too.[1]
The pack introduces each tool through a quest in the chapter "Gotta Find Em' All": "PokeNav" quest, "FishingNav" quest and "PokeFinders" quest. Each one is completed by having the matching item.[3]
Unverified The sources don't confirm how to craft these items in this pack or where the mod sits in the overall progression, so check the in-game quests for guidance.
How do you get started with Cobblemon PokeNav?
4 parts
Welcome to the PokeNav tools! This mod gives you gadgets that tell you what can spawn around you and help you track it down. The pack changed the recipes for the PokeNav, the PokeFinder and the FishingNav, so follow the recipes below rather than anything you remember from the mod's defaults. The quests for the PokeNav, the PokeFinder and the FishingNav are in the "Gotta Find Em' All" chapter.[3][4]
Make the PokeNav first
Start with Pokenav Item Base (quest "PokeNav" quest). It is set to the biome you're standing in and shows which Pokémon will or can spawn near you, so it's a handy first tool for learning what's around you. This pack has changed its recipe.[3][4]

Open it and you get a long list of Pokémon. The buttons along the top change which rarity you see, flip the sort between most and least common, and refresh the list. Hover over a Pokémon to see its species, its spawn chance and whether it spawns in the sky or on the ground. Click it for more detail, such as time restrictions, the blocks it can or can't spawn on, and light levels.[3]
When a listed Pokémon is nearby, a button appears above and to the right of it. Click it to get an arrow pointing at the closest one, and right click again to remove the arrow.[3]
Add a PokeFinder
Next comes the PokeFinder (quest "PokeFinders" quest), a radar-style item. Just holding it out puts a map in the bottom right of your screen. It marks an X for each nearby Pokémon and also shows your coordinates and a compass.[3]
There is one PokeFinder per color, each with its own recipe, and the quest accepts any of them. Here's the red one, Pokefinder Item Red. This pack changed these recipes too.[3][4]

Open the PokeFinder to filter what it shows. You can filter by Pokémon name (spelling has to be exact, with no autocorrect), by labels such as gen1, by EV values, and by whether you've caught the Pokémon yet. The quest author says the Properties filter seems to be broken for them, so don't count on it.[3]
Finish with the FishingNav
Some Pokémon only show up when you fish, and FishingNav (quest "FishingNav" quest) tells you which ones. It lists species, rarities and spawn chances based on the closest water biome, like oceans and rivers. The recipe is another one the pack changed.[3][4]

Optional: dye your PokeNav
Once you have a PokeNav, you can combine it with a dye to get a colored version, and there is a recipe that turns any dyed PokeNav back into the base item.[4]

How does Cobblemon PokeNav work?
5 parts
Heads up: this mod isn't a machine mod. The sources describe handheld items only, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to cover here. What follows is how the PokéNav family of items works.[1]
The PokéNav
The PokéNav tells you which Pokémon may appear in the area you're standing in, the chances of them appearing, and the factors that influence their appearance. It's inspired by the item from Pokémon RSE and ORAS.[1]
It has a Location Screen, which shows what can be spotted where you are, and a Finder Screen, which helps you find the best Pokémon in your area and track it down. You can follow a Pokémon with a three-dimensional arrow or with the PokéFinder radar item.[1]
The info buttons on the screens have tooltips that explain what each entry shows:[5]
- Name: the species of the Pokémon found.[5]
- Type: the elemental type of the form of Pokémon found.[5]
- Ability: the ability of the Pokémon found, marked with an exclamation mark if it's a hidden ability.[5]
- Egg move: the egg move of the Pokémon found, marked with an exclamation mark if present.[5]
The mod works with add-ons that use Cobblemon's built-in Pokémon spawn system, so add-on Pokémon should show up too.[1]
Crafting your PokéNav
In this pack the base Pokenav Item Base recipe is changed from the mod's version. Here's the in-pack recipe:[4]

If you already have an Old PokéNav, there's a separate recipe that turns it into the current base PokéNav. The pack changes this one as well.[4]

Colors and the Gholdengo variant
You can recolor a PokéNav with a shapeless recipe, one per color: a dye plus any PokéNav gives you that color, such as Pokenav Item Red or Pokenav Item Cyan. These are the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack.[4]
A separate shapeless recipe turns any dyed PokéNav back into the base Pokenav Item Base. There's also a Gholdengo-themed variant, Pokenav Item Gholdengo, crafted from an existing PokéNav and left unchanged by the pack.[4]

FishingNav
FishingNav gives you a fishing spawn check, so you can predict your catch. To use it, press SHIFT and Right Click while fishing.[1][5]
The pack changes its recipe, and there's a mirrored version of the same recipe too.[4]

PokéFinder
The PokéFinder is a small radar device for people who find minimaps unfair or unaesthetic. The project page calls the radar easily configurable.[1]
It comes in several colors: Pokefinder Item Black, Pokefinder Item Blue, Pokefinder Item Green, Pokefinder Item Pink, Pokefinder Item Red, Pokefinder Item White and Pokefinder Item Yellow. Here's the in-pack recipe for the red one, which the pack changes from the mod's version:[4]

Unverified The sources don't explain how the PokéFinder radar is configured, and no config files for this mod were available for the pack, so its settings aren't documented here.
How do you progress through Cobblemon PokeNav?
4 parts
Progression for this mod is short and sweet. The pack's "Gotta Find Em' All" chapter has one quest for each tool: "PokeNav" quest, "PokeFinders" quest and "FishingNav" quest. Each quest's task is to get the matching item.[3]
PokeNav
The Pokenav Item Base shows which Pokemon can spawn near you, based on the biome you're standing in. Buttons along the top change the rarity shown and the sort order (most to least common or the reverse), and the last button refreshes the list. Hover over a Pokemon for its species, spawn chance and whether it spawns in the sky or on the ground. Click it for more detail, like time restrictions, the blocks it can or can't spawn on, and light levels. If that Pokemon is nearby, a button appears next to it that gives you an arrow toward the closest one. Right click to get rid of the arrow.[3]
The pack changed the PokeNav recipe from the mod's default, so use the recipe below. There's also a separate pack-changed recipe for upgrading an Old PokéNav into the current PokeNav.[4]

PokeFinder
The PokeFinder helps you find Pokemon. Just holding it out shows a map in the bottom right of your screen, with an X for each nearby Pokemon, plus your coordinates and a compass. Opening it gives you filters: Pokemon name (spelling matters, there's no autocorrect), Properties and Labels, EVs, and whether you've caught that Pokemon. Labels let you add tags like gen1 for first generation Pokemon, and you can combine as many EV filters as you like. The quest author notes that Properties seemed broken for them.[3]
The quest accepts any of the PokeFinder colours, for example Pokefinder Item Red or Pokefinder Item Blue. Each colour has its own recipe, and these are changed by the pack. Red is shown below as an example.[3][4]

FishingNav
Some Pokemon only show up by fishing, and the FishingNav tells you which ones. It lists species, rarities and spawn chances, based on the closest water biome you're near, like oceans and rivers. The pack changed this recipe too.[3][4]

Colour variants
The PokeNav also comes in many colour variants, such as Pokenav Item Gholdengo. These use the mod's own recipes, which the pack did not change. Another recipe turns any dyed PokeNav back into the base item.[4]

How does Cobblemon PokeNav work with other mods?
3 parts
PokeNav is built around Cobblemon, and in this pack that shows in how you craft its tools. The PokeNav, the FishingNav and the PokeFinders all need Cobblemon items, and the pack changed their recipes from the mod's defaults, so don't rely on the defaults. The Gholdengo PokeNav is the exception: it keeps the mod's own recipe.[4]
Crafting with Cobblemon items
The base Pokenav Item Base is a shaped recipe that mixes Cobblemon items with common metals, gems and dusts. The pack changed it, and a mirrored version of the same recipe exists so the layout also works flipped.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any copper ingot | any iron ingot | any copper ingot |
| any diamond gem | ||
| any copper ingot | any redstone dust | any copper ingot |

FishingNav also uses Cobblemon items together with vanilla prismarine. The pack changed this recipe too, and it has a mirrored version as well.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| any redstone dust |
Recipe id: cobblenav:fishingnav_item
The PokeFinders come in several colors, and each one is crafted with the Apricorn of its own color, a vanilla Compass and other items. The pack changed every PokeFinder recipe. Here is the red one as an example.[4]

The other colors follow the same pattern with their matching Apricorn.
The Electirizer shows up in the base PokeNav, FishingNav and PokeFinder recipes, so it is worth getting your hands on early.[4]
The Gholdengo PokeNav is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack. It builds on a PokeNav and adds Cobblemon items.[4]

Quests that tie it together
The "Gotta Find Em' All" quest chapter covers these tools with these quests: "PokeNav" quest, "PokeFinders" quest and "FishingNav" quest. The PokeFinders quest accepts a PokeFinder of any color.[3]
Cobblemon add-ons
The mod's project page says it is compatible with add-ons that use Cobblemon's built-in Pokemon spawn system.[1]
Which All the Mons quests use Cobblemon PokeNav?
3 parts
All of this mod's quests sit in one chapter, "Gotta Find Em' All". The chapter lists them in this order: "PokeFinders" quest, "PokeNav" quest and "FishingNav" quest. Each one has an item task and a text explaining how the tool works.[3]
PokeFinders
The quest "PokeFinders" quest accepts any one of the PokeFinder colors: Pokefinder Item Black, Pokefinder Item Blue, Pokefinder Item Green, Pokefinder Item Pink, Pokefinder Item Red, Pokefinder Item White or Pokefinder Item Yellow.[3]
The quest text explains that holding the PokeFinder out shows a map in the bottom right corner of your screen. It marks each nearby Pokemon with an (X) and also shows your coordinates and a compass.[3]
Opening it gives you filtering options: Pokemon name (spelled exactly, there's no autocorrect), Properties, Labels, EVs, and whether you've caught the Pokemon. The quest text says Properties seemed broken for its author. Labels work, for example gen1 for First Generation Pokemon. You can combine any number of EV filters to narrow your search.[3]
PokeNav
The quest "PokeNav" quest asks for the Pokenav Item Base. It shows which Pokemon will, or can, spawn near you, based on the biome you're in.[3]
The buttons at the top change which rarity is shown, flip the sort between most common and least common, and refresh the list. Hovering over a Pokemon shows its species, spawn chance, and whether it spawns in the sky or on the ground. Clicking it shows more spawn details, such as time restrictions, blocks it can or can't spawn on, and light levels.[3]
If a Pokemon is nearby, a button appears above and to the right of it on screen. Click it to get an arrow pointing to the closest one of that Pokemon, and right click again to remove the arrow.[3]
FishingNav
The quest "FishingNav" quest asks for the FishingNav, which shows which Pokemon you can fish up.[3]
With a PokeRod on you, it lists Pokemon based on the closest water biome, like oceans and rivers. Like the PokeNav, it shows species, rarities and spawn chances.[3]
What changed in Cobblemon PokeNav between versions?
3 parts
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon PokeNav 2.3.3, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs for the versions I have, newest first. They are not pack changelog entries.[2]
2.3.3 (the version in this pack)
- The Finder screen is gone. Tracking start buttons now sit on the Location screen, above Pokémon that are near you, and they replace the marks from earlier versions. Press one and the screen closes, then tracking of the nearest selected Pokémon begins.[6]
- The tracking arrow is now a custom model instead of a regular Poké Ball.[6]
- Resource packs can now change some UI colors. For now only the text color in PokéFinder is customizable, and more colors are planned.[6]
- Fixed a bug where the PokéFinder overlay ignored changes to the filter list.[6]
- The "Pokémon Labels" filter is now case-insensitive.[6]
- The "Translated Name" filter now shows all Pokémon if no names are entered.[6]
2.3.2
This version added three client config parameters. enableItemShaking decides whether the mod's items shake when there's a signal. enableDisplayOfNamesOnRadar decides whether Pokémon names show on the PokéFinder overlay. enableMultipleModelItems decides whether the mod's items can change their models, and the changelog says to disable it for compatibility with the current version of Cobblemon 3D Pokenavs.[7]
It also included a fix aimed at the PokéFinder overlay freezing issue. The changelog words it as "hopefully" fixed, so treat it as an attempted fix.[7]
2.2.5
- Compatibility fixes for the latest version of Cobblemon at the time.[8]
- Fixed a biome collector registration issue that caused missing biome data in tooltips and problems with biome platform selection.[8]
- Old PokéNav was removed from the loot table of ancient city chests, and the chance of getting it through fishing was reduced.[8]
- Fixed water blocks rendering as an empty block.[8]
