Cobblemon Battle Tower is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 1.10.22. An endgame Battle Tower mod for Cobblemon. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Cobblemon Battle Tower?

4 parts

Cobblemon Battle Tower is an endgame challenge mod for Cobblemon. You lock in a team, fight through harder and harder floors, and earn Battle Points (BP) to spend in a shop. The pack includes version 1.10.22 of the mod.[1][2]

The tower is a block, not a world-gen structure. You craft the holo battle tower and use it wherever you want to run it.[1]

Who it's for

This is for trainers who already have a team they like and want a competitive test. It has 125+ Smogon-inspired teams across unlimited floors. Floors 1-5 have no gimmicks, Tera starts in the 5-10 range, and Dynamax and Mega join in later tiers. From floor 30 onward you face all gimmicks plus legendaries.[1]

Ways to play

  • Singles: 1v1 with 1-6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Doubles: 2v2 with 2-6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Co-op Doubles: 2 players against an NPC, with exactly 3 Pokémon each.[1]
  • Boss: legendary encounters with one shared HP pool across all participants. It has 41 fixed floors, and every 5th floor is a two-phase legendary fight.[1]

You can also pick Level 50 or Level 100 for a run, and all participating players' Pokémon are forced to that level until it ends.[1]

Teams and rewards

Your team is locked before a run starts. The mod checks species, held items and abilities to stop mid-run swaps, and it doesn't allow duplicate species or duplicate held items. If you allow legendaries, BP rewards drop to 1 per floor.[1]

BP goes into a shop with 70+ items, including candies, EV vitamins, type gems, Poké Balls and legendary held items. Each mode also has its own leaderboard that tracks your highest floor and best win streak.[1]

Requirements

The mod needs Cobblemon 1.7+ and RCT API 0.14.6+. Cobblemon Mega Showdown is required for Boss Mode, gimmick items and gimmick usage.[1]

Tip: Server owners can tune the tower through the config files in config/cobblemon_battle_tower/. They cover run cooldown, banned Pokémon, NPC gimmick toggles, BP per floor, shop items and item usage limits. The /bt reload command reloads them.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show whether this pack changes any of the mod's default config values, such as BP per floor or the shop list, so treat the numbers above as the mod's own. They also don't tie the mod to any quest or to the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Battle Tower?

2 parts

Good news: getting started with the Battle Tower is a one-item job. This mod doesn't generate a tower in the world. It uses a block instead, so the first thing you make is the Holo Battle Tower. That's the block you craft to use the tower.[1]

This is the pack's shaped crafting recipe for the Holo Battle Tower, so use the exact layout shown here.

Before your first run

Once you have the block, take a minute to plan your team, because the tower checks it before it lets you start.[1][4]

  1. Pick a battle mode. Singles takes 1 to 6 Pokémon, Doubles takes 2 to 6, and Co-op Doubles needs exactly 3 Pokémon per player.[1][4]
  2. Check the format and team mode first. Changing settings after you lock in can invalidate the run.[4]
  3. Choose a level mode. Level 50 and Level 100 both force every participating Pokémon to that level for the whole run.[1]
  4. Lock in your team. The tower verifies species, held items and abilities so you can't swap mid-run, and it doesn't allow duplicate species or duplicate held items.[1]

Your first floors

Start with Singles. It's the safest place to learn the tower because you only face one threat at a time. Reliable pivoting, recovery, hazard control and at least one speed control option usually matter more than flashy combos.[4]

Use the early floors to build streak momentum and scout which gimmicks start showing up. Floors 1 to 5 have no gimmicks, and Tera arrives in the next range. Save your risky experimental teams for lower-stakes attempts.[1][4]

Runs earn Battle Points, which you spend in the tower's shop. If the optional legendary restriction is set to allow legendaries, the reward drops to 1 Battle Point per floor.[1]

Watch out: Don't jump straight into Boss mode. It needs Cobblemon: Mega Showdown, and its party size is exact: 6 Pokémon for 1 player, 3 each for 2 players, and 2 each for 3 players.[1][4]

How does Cobblemon Battle Tower work?

8 parts

Cobblemon Battle Tower doesn't work like most tech mods. There are no power, fluid or item-pipe systems to wire up. The tower is a block-driven battle challenge: you lock in a team, fight up through floors, and earn Battle Points (BP) to spend in a shop. The tower is not generated as a structure in the world, so you craft the block and place it wherever you want it.[1]

The block you need is the Holo Battle Tower. This is how the pack crafts it:[1][3]

Battle modes and team sizes

The mode you pick decides how many Pokémon you can lock in. The tower shows a tooltip with the requirement for each mode.[1][4]

  • Singles is 1v1 and accepts 1 to 6 Pokémon. It's the safest mode for learning the tower.[1][4]
  • Doubles is 2v2 and accepts 2 to 6 Pokémon.[1][4]
  • Co-op Doubles puts 2 players against an NPC, and each player brings exactly 3 Pokémon.[1][4]
  • Boss mode has all participants share one HP pool against a legendary boss. Party size is exact: 6 Pokémon for 1 player, 3 each for 2 players, and 2 each for 3 players.[1][4]

Locking in your team

You have to lock in your team before a run starts. The tower validates it so you can't swap mid-run: species, held items and abilities are all checked. Duplicate species and duplicate held items aren't allowed, and the server can also keep a banned Pokémon list.[1][4]

Tip: Check your format and team mode before you lock in. Changing settings after locking can invalidate the run.[4]

Floors and difficulty

In normal mode every floor range uses curated full trainer teams. The project page describes more than 125 Smogon-inspired teams across unlimited floors, and gimmicks unlock as you climb. These are the ranges as the mod lists them:[1][4]

  • Floors 1-5: no gimmicks, 20 teams.[1]
  • Floors 5-10: Tera, 15 teams.[1]
  • Floors 10-15: Tera and Dynamax, 10 teams.[1]
  • Floors 15-30: Tera, Dynamax and Mega, 30 teams.[1]
  • Floor 30 and up: all gimmicks plus legendaries, 50 teams.[1]

Item usage limits also rise with floor progression, and each NPC gimmick (Tera, Dynamax, Mega) can be toggled individually in the config.[1]

Random mode, legendaries and levels

With random team mode on, floor NPCs get Pokémon sampled from the floor's available pool instead of a structured trainer team. From floor 30 onward, random teams try to include a restricted Pokémon when possible.[1][4]

Allowing legendaries makes runs easier, but it reduces your BP rewards and marks your leaderboard entry. The in-game warning says BP drops to 1 per win. If you have too many restricted Pokémon, you either cut your restricted count or enable 'Allow Legendaries'.[1][4]

Level modes force every participating player's Pokémon to the chosen level for the whole run. The options are Level 50 and Level 100.[1]

Boss mode in detail

Boss mode needs Cobblemon: Mega Showdown and always uses the co-op boss rules rather than normal trainer battles. It runs through 41 fixed floors of Gigantamax Pokémon. Every 5th floor is a two-phase legendary fight: beat the first form and the boss transitions into a stronger second form. After floor 41, bosses are drawn randomly from the full pool.[1][4]

The phase bosses run from Groudon turning into Primal Groudon on floor 5 up to Eternatus turning into Eternamax Eternatus on floor 41.[1]

The fight is about lasting, not burst damage, so draining and recovery moves matter a lot. The mod's own tips suggest items like Big Root with draining moves, Leftovers on bulky Pokémon, and Covert Cloak or Clear Amulet for utility. They also recommend that each player specializes, mixing survival tools, guaranteed chip damage, and status or support options.[4]

Battle arenas

If you set up custom arenas in config.json, battles teleport players and trainers to those coordinates. Multiple dimensions are supported. If no arenas are configured, or all are occupied, the battle falls back to the terminal location.[1]

Battle Points and the shop

Winning earns BP, and the shop has more than 70 items on the project page, covering things like candies, vitamins, type gems and gimmick items. The shop is driven by bp_shop_items.json. This pack's file documents that you can add items to override defaults or create custom ones. For command rewards you use 'command' instead of 'item_id' and write {player} for the player's name. A command can also take an optional [player] or [server] context prefix.[1][5]

The file's own header comments describe it: _comment_1, _comment_2, _comment_3 and _comment_4.[5]

Unverified The mod's other config files (config.json, bp_per_floor.json and itemusage.json) are described on the project page, but this pack's actual values for them weren't available. Check them in game before relying on any BP-per-floor or item-limit numbers.

Admin commands

  • /bt reload reloads all config files.[1]
  • /bt give <amount> [player] gives BP to yourself or another player.[1]
  • /bt setfloor sets a starting floor from 1 to 100, with optional mode, level, team name and boss options.[1]
  • /bt runcooldown [seconds] views or sets the cooldown between runs.[1]
  • /bt leaderboard <mode> <top10/25/50/100> shows a leaderboard in chat.[1]
  • /bt reset <player> resets one player's leaderboard stats, and /bt resetleaderboard resets all leaderboard data.[1]

How do you progress through Cobblemon Battle Tower?

1 part

The recipe dump for this pack shows one in-pack recipe for this mod: the Holo Battle Tower. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and its ingredients all come from Cobblemon itself.[3]

What the sources don't cover

Unverified The sources here don't show any battle tiers, difficulty levels, rewards or unlock steps for Cobblemon Battle Tower in this pack, and no quests in the pack involve the mod. That means there is no quest chapter to follow for it, so I can't give you a tier-by-tier breakdown without guessing.

How does Cobblemon Battle Tower work with other mods?

The in-pack recipe that connects this mod to another one is the crafting of the Holo Battle Tower. This mod uses a block as the source of its battle tower instead of a world gen structure, so you craft the Holo Battle Tower to use it. The mod is built as a battle challenge for Cobblemon, and the recipe reflects that.[1][3]

The Holo Battle Tower is a shaped crafting recipe, and every item it uses comes from Cobblemon.[3]

Your Cobblemon basics, like the Healing Machine, the Data Monitor and the PC, come first. Once those are set up, you can craft the tower block and start a run.[3]

Which Cobblemon Battle Tower config options matter?

3 parts

The option that matters most in this pack is the Battle Points shop, which is set up in one file: config/cobblemon_battle_tower/bp_shop_items.json. The pack changes the shop in two ways, and both are worth knowing before you start grinding floors.[5]

Defaults still load

load_default_items is set to true. That means the mod's built-in shop list in _default_items is still used. The file's own note says you add items to override defaults or to create custom ones.[5]

What the pack changed

  • The built-in list in _default_items prices Mega Stone at 15 BP for a quantity of 1.[5]
  • The pack overrides that in items: Mega Stone costs 10 BP for a quantity of 1, so it is cheaper here than the mod default.[5]
  • The same items list adds a custom entry: Sigil of Supremacy costs 100 BP for a quantity of 1. It isn't in the built-in list, so it is a pack-specific shop item.[5]

Editing the shop yourself

The file's comments explain two more things. A shop entry can run a command instead of giving an item: use 'command' in place of 'item_id', and write {player} where the player's name should go. You can also add an optional context prefix of [player] or [server] in front of the command.[5]

The shop entries in this pack's file follow the same shape: an id, a bp_cost, an item_id, a quantity and a display_name. Copy that layout when you add your own items.[5]

What changed in Cobblemon Battle Tower between versions?

4 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon Battle Tower 1.10.22. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.12.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]

1.10.22

  • New configs let you adjust the cobbledollars payouts or disable them entirely.[6]

1.10.19

  • Fixed a Battle Tower disconnect that could randomly happen when your Pokemon fainted while Cobblemon: Mega Showdown was cleaning up battle gimmicks. That disconnect could force an unintended forfeit.[7]

1.9.17

  • Fixed a battle freezing issue that could eventually occur on servers.[8]
  • Reduced the anti-spam cooldown to 1 second and added a config option for it in config.json.[8]
  • Adjusted aura particle colors for a few boss encounters.[8]

1.9.15

This was the big boss mode update. The entire boss mode was revamped. It now goes through 1 to 5, from easy to hard, then 6 to 10 repeats that pattern. Every 5 intervals there is an epic transitional boss battle. All bosses also got custom g-max move equivalents, so their moves do real damage plus g-max move effects.[9]

  • Fixed boss teleportation not working at all.[9]
  • Fixed more cleanup issues that can occur in some cases.[9]
  • Fixed 2 player and 3 player coop not working for phase 1 and 2 boss fights.[9]
  • Fixed phase 2 fainting.[9]
