What is Cobblemon Battle Tower?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Cobblemon Battle Tower is an endgame challenge mod for Cobblemon. You lock in a team, fight through harder and harder floors, and earn Battle Points (BP) to spend in a shop. The pack includes version 1.10.22 of the mod.[1][2]

The tower is a block, not a world-gen structure. You craft the holo battle tower and use it wherever you want to run it.[1]

Who it's for

This is for trainers who already have a team they like and want a competitive test. It has 125+ Smogon-inspired teams across unlimited floors. Floors 1-5 have no gimmicks, Tera starts in the 5-10 range, and Dynamax and Mega join in later tiers. From floor 30 onward you face all gimmicks plus legendaries.[1]

Ways to play

  • Singles: 1v1 with 1-6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Doubles: 2v2 with 2-6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Co-op Doubles: 2 players against an NPC, with exactly 3 Pokémon each.[1]
  • Boss: legendary encounters with one shared HP pool across all participants. It has 41 fixed floors, and every 5th floor is a two-phase legendary fight.[1]

You can also pick Level 50 or Level 100 for a run, and all participating players' Pokémon are forced to that level until it ends.[1]

Teams and rewards

Your team is locked before a run starts. The mod checks species, held items and abilities to stop mid-run swaps, and it doesn't allow duplicate species or duplicate held items. If you allow legendaries, BP rewards drop to 1 per floor.[1]

BP goes into a shop with 70+ items, including candies, EV vitamins, type gems, Poké Balls and legendary held items. Each mode also has its own leaderboard that tracks your highest floor and best win streak.[1]

Requirements

The mod needs Cobblemon 1.7+ and RCT API 0.14.6+. Cobblemon Mega Showdown is required for Boss Mode, gimmick items and gimmick usage.[1]

Tip: Server owners can tune the tower through the config files in config/cobblemon_battle_tower/. They cover run cooldown, banned Pokémon, NPC gimmick toggles, BP per floor, shop items and item usage limits. The /bt reload command reloads them.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show whether this pack changes any of the mod's default config values, such as BP per floor or the shop list, so treat the numbers above as the mod's own. They also don't tie the mod to any quest or to the ATM Star path.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Battle Tower?

4 parts

Good news: getting into the Battle Tower takes one craft. This mod doesn't use a world-generated tower. The tower is a block, so you craft the Holo Battle Tower to use it.[1]

Step 1: craft the Holo Battle Tower

The Holo Battle Tower is a shaped crafting recipe in this pack, and it is the first and only item you need to get started. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

Craft this block to use the Battle Tower.

Step 2: get your team ready

You have to lock in your team before a run begins, and the tower asks you to do it before you can start. Once you're in a run, you can't swap Pokemon mid-run, because species, held items and abilities are all verified.[1][4]

  • No duplicate species and no duplicate held items on your team.[1]
  • Singles is 1v1 and takes 1 to 6 Pokemon. Doubles is 2v2 and takes 2 to 6 Pokemon.[1]
  • Co-op Doubles puts 2 players against an NPC, with exactly 3 Pokemon per player.[1]
  • Boss mode asks for 6 Pokemon solo, 3 each with 2 players, or 2 each with 3 players.[1][4]

The tooltip in the team screen tells you how many Pokemon the selected mode needs, so check it if the lock-in won't go through.[4]

Step 3: pick a level and start climbing

You choose between Level 50 and Level 100, and all participating players' Pokemon are forced to that level for the whole run. Floors 1 to 5 have no gimmicks, and Tera shows up in the 5 to 10 range. Dynamax and Mega come in later, and legendaries appear from floor 30 onward.[1]

Watch out for restrictions

Watch out: Some Pokemon can't be used because of the server's banned list. If you bring too many restricted Pokemon, you either have to cut back or enable 'Allow Legendaries', which reduces your BP to 1 per win.[1][4]

Winning floors earns Battle Points, which you spend in the tower's shop. The shop has 70+ items, including Rare Candy, Ability Patch and PP Max.[1]

How does Cobblemon Battle Tower work?

7 parts

Cobblemon Battle Tower is built around a single block rather than a world-generated structure. You craft the Holo Battle Tower to use the tower, and that block is your tower. The sources describe team rules, battle modes, floors and rewards, and they don't describe any power, fluid or item automation.[1][3]

This is the pack's own shaped crafting recipe for the Holo Battle Tower.

Starting a run

Before a run begins you have to lock in your team. The tower's interface tells you to lock in your team to start. Once it's locked, the tower verifies species, held items and abilities so you can't swap things mid-run.[1][4]

Team rules are strict. You can't bring duplicate species or duplicate held items, and the server can ban specific Pokémon. A banned Pokémon shows a tooltip saying it can't be used in the Battle Tower because of the server configuration.[1][4]

Battle modes and team sizes

  • Singles is 1v1 and takes 1 to 6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Doubles is 2v2 and takes 2 to 6 Pokémon.[1]
  • Co-op Doubles is 2 players against an NPC, with exactly 3 Pokémon per player.[1]
  • Boss mode is a legendary encounter with one shared HP pool across all participants. It needs 6 Pokémon with 1 player, 3 each with 2 players, or 2 each with 3 players.[1][4]

You also pick a level mode. Level 50 or Level 100 forces all participating players' Pokémon to that level for the whole run.[1]

Floors and difficulty

Floors are unlimited and get harder as you climb. The project page lists these gimmick tiers and team counts, and item usage limits also increase with floor progression:[1]

  • Floors 1 to 5: no gimmicks, 20 teams.[1]
  • Floors 5 to 10: Tera, 15 teams.[1]
  • Floors 10 to 15: Tera and Dynamax, 10 teams.[1]
  • Floors 15 to 30: Tera, Dynamax and Mega, 30 teams.[1]
  • Floor 30 and beyond: all gimmicks plus legendaries, 50 teams.[1]

There's also an optional Random Team Mode, where floor NPCs get randomized Pokémon instead of structured trainer teams.[1]

Legendaries

Legendaries are limited by a restricted-Pokémon count. If your team goes over the limit, the game tells you to either reduce your restricted Pokémon count or enable 'Allow Legendaries'. Allowing them reduces your Battle Points (BP) to 1.[1][4]

Boss mode

Boss mode runs through 41 fixed floors of Gigantamax Pokémon, and after floor 41 the bosses are drawn randomly from the full pool. Every 5th floor is a two-phase legendary fight. When you beat the first form, the boss transitions into a stronger second form.[1]

  • Floor 5: Groudon, then Primal Groudon.[1]
  • Floor 10: Kyogre, then Primal Kyogre.[1]
  • Floor 15: Rayquaza, then Mega Rayquaza.[1]
  • Floor 20: Palkia, then Origin Palkia.[1]
  • Floor 25: Dialga, then Origin Dialga.[1]
  • Floor 30: Giratina, then Origin Forme.[1]
  • Floor 35: White Kyurem, then Black Kyurem.[1]
  • Floor 40: Necrozma, then Ultra Necrozma.[1]
  • Floor 41: Eternatus, then Eternamax Eternatus.[1]

Arenas, rewards and leaderboards

If the server has configured battle arenas, battles teleport players and trainers to those coordinates, and multiple dimensions are supported. If no arenas are configured or all are occupied, the fight falls back to the terminal location.[1]

Winning floors earns BP, which you spend in the BP shop. The project page lists 70+ items, including candies, vitamins, type gems, gimmick items and Poké Balls. Separate leaderboards track Singles, Doubles, Co-op and Boss. Each tracks the highest floor reached, best win streak, and whether legendaries were used, shown as a gold (L) next to the record.[1]

Configs and commands

The mod's configs live in a cobblemon_battle_tower folder inside the config folder. The project page describes config.json (run cooldown, legendary limit, NPC gimmick toggles, banned Pokémon, random team mode, arenas), bp_per_floor.json, bp_shop_items.json and itemusage.json. Its listed defaults are 1/2/3/4/5 BP by tier and item limits of unlimited, then 3, 2 and 1.[1]

Unverified The sources here include no config files for this mod from the pack, so they don't show whether the pack changes any of those defaults, including the BP rates, item limits, banned Pokémon, arenas and shop contents. Those values are set in the mod's config files on the server.

Admins also get a set of /bt commands: reload (reloads the configs), give (hands out BP), setfloor (sets a starting floor from 1 to 100), runcooldown, leaderboard, reset and resetleaderboard.[1]

How do you progress through Cobblemon Battle Tower?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

The recipe dump for this pack shows one in-pack recipe for this mod: the Holo Battle Tower. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and its ingredients all come from Cobblemon itself.[5]

What the sources don't cover

Unverified The sources here don't show any battle tiers, difficulty levels, rewards or unlock steps for Cobblemon Battle Tower in this pack, and no quests in the pack involve the mod. That means there is no quest chapter to follow for it, so I can't give you a tier-by-tier breakdown without guessing.

How does Cobblemon Battle Tower work with other mods?

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

The in-pack recipe that connects this mod to another one is the crafting of the Holo Battle Tower. This mod uses a block as the source of its battle tower instead of a world gen structure, so you craft the Holo Battle Tower to use it. The mod is built as a battle challenge for Cobblemon, and the recipe reflects that.[1][5]

The Holo Battle Tower is a shaped crafting recipe, and every item it uses comes from Cobblemon.[5]

What changed in Cobblemon Battle Tower between versions?

2 parts

All the Mons 0.14.1-beta ships Cobblemon Battle Tower 1.9.17. The tower was already in the pack by 0.12.0-beta or earlier, and the mod's own changelogs below are the clearest record of what changed.[6]

1.9.15: boss mode overhaul

This was the big one. Boss mode was revamped from the ground up. It now runs through bosses 1 to 5 going from easy to hard, then 6 to 10 repeat that pattern. Every 5 intervals ends with an epic transitional boss battle.[7]

All the bosses also got custom g-max move equivalents, so their moves now do real damage and carry g-max move effects.[7]

The same release fixed a lot of boss fight problems:[7]

  • Boss teleportation not working at all.[7]
  • More cleanup issues that could occur in some cases.[7]
  • 2player and 3player coop not working for phase 1 and 2 boss fights.[7]
  • Phase 2 fainting.[7]

1.9.17: the version in this pack

  • Fixed a battle freezing issue that could eventually occur on servers.[8]
  • Reduced the anti-spam cooldown to 1 second and added a config option for it in config.json.[8]
  • Adjusted aura particle colors for a few boss encounters.[8]
Tip: If you run a server, the 1.9.17 battle freeze fix is the one that matters most, and the anti-spam cooldown can now be tuned in config.json.[8]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so which pack release picked up each mod update is unconfirmed. Nothing is known here about a 1.9.16 release.
