What is Cobblemon Battle Extras?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Cobblemon Battle Extras is a Cobblemon add-on that makes battles easier to read and easier to play. It expands the battle UI with more information, cleaner overlays, better tooltips and a stronger battle log. It focuses on quality of life and doesn't change Cobblemon's core mechanics. This pack includes version 1.13.45.[1][2]

What you get

  • A better battle HUD with turn counters for weather, terrain, room and screen effects. It also shows stat stages, entry hazard icons, volatile status icons, type icons on battlers and 3D in-battle nameplates.[1]
  • Detailed move tooltips covering power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info. Switch tooltips show your Pokémon's moves, ability and speed.[1]
  • A battle info panel that tracks the opponent's revealed moves, abilities and held items, plus a full weakness strip showing all types at once.[1]
  • A color-coded battle log with move links, damage percent on damaging move lines and several built-in color themes. Battles against players (PvP) and NPCs can be recorded, and the log viewer's default keybind is B.[1]
  • Keyboard support for battles and controller-friendly navigation. It's compatible with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable.[1]

Who it's for

If you want to know what's going on in a fight without guessing, this is for you. It supports wild battles, trainer battles, PvP, Battle Tower and co-op battles, so it's useful whether you're grinding routes or planning a competitive team.[1]

Almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted in the config, so you can keep only the parts you like. Optional server-side synced settings are also supported for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types.[1]

Unverified Where this mod fits in the pack's progression is not confirmed by the available sources. Nothing shows it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quest, and the pack's own config values for it haven't been verified.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Battle Extras?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 0.10.0-beta guide

Good news: there's nothing to craft or gather before you start with Cobblemon Battle Extras. It's a Cobblemon add-on that expands the battle UI with more information, cleaner overlays, better tooltips and stronger battle logging. It focuses on battle quality-of-life without changing Cobblemon's core mechanics.[1]

Unverified No recipes or quests for this mod's items could be confirmed in this pack, so there is no craft-first step to point you to. Everything below is about using the mod in battle.

Your first steps

  1. Start any battle. The mod supports wild battles, trainer battles, PvP, Battle Tower and co-op battles, so any of them will show the new HUD.[1]
  2. Look over the battle HUD. You get weather, terrain, room and screen turn counters, stat stage displays, entry hazard icons, volatile status icons and type icons on battlers, plus 3D in-battle nameplates.[1]
  3. Hover over your moves. The tooltips show power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info, and switch tooltips show your Pokemon's moves, ability and speed.[1]
  4. Check the Battle Info panel. It tracks the opponent's revealed moves, abilities and held items, and shows a full weakness strip with all types visible at once.[1]
  5. Open the battle log viewer. The battle log is color-coded, groups lines by player and opponent side, and shows damage percent on damaging move lines. The default keybind for the viewer is B.[1]

Keyboard and controller

The mod adds keyboard support for battles and controller-friendly navigation. It's compatible with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable. There are also options for a keybind to go back in menus and for pressing B to return to the battle menu.[1][3]

Tune it to your taste

Almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted in the config, so you can keep only the parts you want. Options include battle speed, hiding the opponent's Pokeball types, skipping the confirmation when running from wild Pokemon, and skipping it when forfeiting against NPCs.[1][3]

Tip: If the extra overlays feel busy at first, turn off a few in the config and add them back one at a time. You can toggle things like turn counters, type icons, stat stages and hazard icons separately.[1][3]

Optional server-side synced settings are also supported for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types.[1]

How does Cobblemon Battle Extras work?

6 parts

This one is a bit different from most mods on the channel: Cobblemon Battle Extras is a battle interface add-on for Cobblemon. The sources describe it purely as battle quality of life, and they say nothing about machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so there is nothing of that kind to set up.[1]

It also doesn't change Cobblemon's core mechanics. What it does is show you far more information while you fight, and let you control the battle UI from a keyboard or controller.[1]

Battle HUD

The HUD layer puts the state of the battle on screen. Each piece can be switched on or off in the config.[1][3]

  • Weather, terrain, room and screen turn counters, plus field effect tracking. There is also a plain current-turn display.[1][3]
  • Stat stage displays for boosts and drops, and entry hazard icons such as Stealth Rock.[1][3]
  • Volatile status icons, plus type icons on battlers. The type icons adapt to Mega, Tera and other type-changing effects.[1][3]
  • 3D in-battle nameplates with extra overlay information. You can pick the nameplate style, hide the standard in-battle GUI nameplates, and adjust nameplate brightness to work with shaders.[1][3]
  • Ability popups that show when abilities activate. You can center them on screen and choose how long they stay.[3]
  • A remaining-Pokemon count, a speed comparison, and the XP earned after a battle.[3]

Move and switch tooltips

Move tooltips show power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info, along with effectiveness readouts. The language file also has lines for STAB power changes, accuracy boosts and an Extremely Effective! label.[1][3]

Switch tooltips show your Pokemon's moves, ability and speed when you are choosing who to send in.[1]

Some status moves get a short description in the tooltip:[3]

  • Aqua Ring restores HP each turn, and Ingrain does the same while also preventing switching.[3]
  • Embargo means held items cannot be used. Lucky Chant protects against critical hits.[3]
  • Mist stops stats from being lowered, and Safeguard protects against status conditions.[3]
  • Soak changes the target to Water type, and Substitute takes damage in place of the user.[3]

Battle info panel

The info panel tracks what your opponent has revealed so far: moves, abilities and held items. It also shows a full weakness strip with every type visible at once, with improved weakness and resistance tooltips. The mod lists support for trainer battles, Battle Tower and co-op.[1]

Enhanced battle log

  • A color-coded log that groups lines by player and opponent side, with several built-in color themes.[1]
  • Move links with hover and click tooltips, and a damage percent on damaging move lines.[1]
  • Battle log recording for PvP and NPC battles, with a viewer. The default viewer keybind is B.[1]
  • Optional extras: auto-expanding the log, sending it to the chat window, and saving battle logs to a file.[3]

Controls and quality of life

Battles can be navigated with a keyboard or a controller. The mod is listed as compatible with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable. There is a keybind for going back in menus, and a B button option to return to the battle menu.[1][3]

You can also skip the confirmation when forfeiting against NPCs or running from wild Pokemon, and speed up battle animations.[3]

Config and server syncing

Almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted. Optional server-side synced settings are supported for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types, so a server can control those for its players.[1][3]

Unverified This pack ships no config files for the mod, and the sources don't give default values for any option, so which features are on by default in this pack is unconfirmed.
