What is Cobblemon Battle Extras?

2 parts

Cobblemon Battle Extras is a Cobblemon add-on that makes battles easier to read and easier to play. It expands the battle UI with more information, cleaner overlays, better tooltips and a stronger battle log. It focuses on quality of life and doesn't change Cobblemon's core mechanics. This pack includes version 1.13.45.[1][2]

What you get

  • A better battle HUD with turn counters for weather, terrain, room and screen effects. It also shows stat stages, entry hazard icons, volatile status icons, type icons on battlers and 3D in-battle nameplates.[1]
  • Detailed move tooltips covering power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info. Switch tooltips show your Pokémon's moves, ability and speed.[1]
  • A battle info panel that tracks the opponent's revealed moves, abilities and held items, plus a full weakness strip showing all types at once.[1]
  • A color-coded battle log with move links, damage percent on damaging move lines and several built-in color themes. Battles against players (PvP) and NPCs can be recorded, and the log viewer's default keybind is B.[1]
  • Keyboard support for battles and controller-friendly navigation. It's compatible with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable.[1]

Who it's for

If you want to know what's going on in a fight without guessing, this is for you. It supports wild battles, trainer battles, PvP, Battle Tower and co-op battles, so it's useful whether you're grinding routes or planning a competitive team.[1]

Almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted in the config, so you can keep only the parts you like. Optional server-side synced settings are also supported for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types.[1]

Unverified Where this mod fits in the pack's progression is not confirmed by the available sources. Nothing shows it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quest, and the pack's own config values for it haven't been verified.

How do you get started with Cobblemon Battle Extras?

2 parts

Good news: there's nothing to craft first. Cobblemon Battle Extras is a Cobblemon add-on that expands the battle UI with more information, better tooltips and a stronger battle log. It focuses on battle quality-of-life without changing Cobblemon's core mechanics, so your first step is simply to start a battle.[1]

What to try first

  1. Jump into a battle. The add-on supports wild battles, trainer battles, PvP, Battle Tower and co-op battles, so any of them will do.[1]
  2. Look at the battle HUD. It adds turn counters for weather, terrain, rooms and screens, plus stat stage displays, entry hazard icons, volatile status icons and type icons on battlers.[1]
  3. Hover over your moves. The move tooltips show power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info. Switch tooltips show your Pokémon's moves, ability and speed.[1]
  4. Check the battle info panel. It tracks the opponent's revealed moves, abilities and held items, and shows a full weakness strip with all types visible at once.[1]
  5. After the fight, press B, the default keybind, to open the battle log viewer. The log is color-coded, groups lines by player and opponent side, and shows damage percent on damaging move lines. PvP and NPC battles can be recorded too.[1]

Keyboard and controller play

Battles can be played with the keyboard, and the navigation is controller-friendly. The mod is listed as compatible with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable, so you can pick whichever setup you like.[1]

Tip: Almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted in the config, so if the HUD feels crowded you can keep only the parts you want. There are also optional server-side synced settings for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any craftable items, in-pack recipes or quests for this mod, so there is no recipe to show here. I also couldn't confirm whether the pack changes any of the mod's default config values.

How does Cobblemon Battle Extras work?

6 parts

Good news and a heads-up: Cobblemon Battle Extras has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It's a battle quality-of-life add-on that expands Cobblemon's battle interface, so the core mechanics here are all about what you see and how you control a battle.[1]

The mod says it focuses on battle quality-of-life without changing Cobblemon's core mechanics. Your battles still play by Cobblemon's rules, and you just get more information and nicer controls.[1]

Battle HUD

The HUD adds extra information on top of the normal battle screen. It covers the following things:[1]

  • Turn counters for weather, terrain, room and screen effects, plus general field effect tracking.[1]
  • Stat stage displays, entry hazard icons and volatile status icons.[1]
  • Type icons on battlers, with adaptive handling for Mega, Tera and other type-changing effects.[1]
  • 3D in-battle nameplates and extra overlay information.[1]

Move and switch tooltips

Move tooltips show power, accuracy, PP, priority, crit chance and effect info. Descriptions and effectiveness readouts adapt to the situation. Switch tooltips show your Pokémon's moves, ability and speed, so you can pick a switch-in without guessing.[1]

Battle info panel

The info panel tracks what the opponent has revealed so far: moves, abilities and held items. It also shows a full weakness strip with every type visible at once, with improved weakness and resistance tooltips. The mod lists support for trainer battles, Battle Tower and co-op.[1]

Battle log

The battle log is color-coded and groups lines by player and opponent side. Move names are links with hover and click tooltips, and damaging move lines show a damage percentage. Battles against other players and NPCs can be recorded and reopened in the battle log viewer, and there are multiple built-in color themes.[1]

The default keybind for the battle log viewer is B.[1]

Controls and compatibility

You can navigate battles with the keyboard or a controller. The mod lists compatibility with MidnightControls, Controllify and Controllable. It supports wild battles, trainer battles, PvP, Battle Tower and co-op battles.[1]

Config

The mod page says almost every major feature can be toggled or adjusted in the config, so you can keep only the parts you like. It also supports optional server-side synced settings for features like battle speed and hidden opponent ball types.[1]

Unverified This pack doesn't include a config file for this mod, and no option names or default values could be confirmed. Whether any of the optional server-synced settings are enabled in this pack is also unverified.

What changed in Cobblemon Battle Extras between versions?

4 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Cobblemon Battle Extras 1.13.45, and the mod has been in the pack since 0.4.0-beta or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs, newest first. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod.[2]

1.13.43 and 1.13.45: the current line

  • 1.13.45 added stat stage strips for the doubles and triples battle layouts.[3]
  • 1.13.43 added a gimmick usage tab under the player and opponent party info panels. It shows Mega, Gmax and Tera status with live tracking during the battle.[4]
  • 1.13.43 also added resistance and immunity display to the side-panel weakness strips, and Guts-aware Attack highlighting that turns boosted Attack green while you are statused.[4]
  • 1.13.43 added three local config profile slots (P1, P2, P3) with one-click switching, renaming and per-slot JSON saving, so you can swap setups quickly.[4]
  • 1.13.43 also renamed the switch tooltip option from Show Damage Range to Switch Damage Range, and fixed move tooltips rendering behind side-panel Pokeballs and the gimmick tracker. Several hardcoded English labels are now localized too.[4]

1.12.41 and 1.12.42: classic HUD overhaul

1.12.41 was a big one. It added classic top-tile overlays for Cobblemon's default singles, doubles and triples layouts, a left-edge player party strip with hover panels, and a draggable right-side opponent info strip that keeps revealed opponent info across switches. It also added classic or custom display styles for elements like move tooltips, ability popups, the turn counter and nameplates.[5]

Watch out: 1.12.41 switched the shipped defaults to a more classic look and added a one-time config reset to apply them. If your old settings seem to have vanished, that is why.[5]

It also fixed stale stat-stage carryover after switching, and made Mega Showdown HUD suppression reliably hide overlapping pieces when the compat toggle is on. 1.12.42 followed with a fix for overlay nameplates failing to render.[5][6]

1.11.40 and 1.10.34: Mega Showdown and damage previews

1.11.40 added Mega Showdown compatibility: when both mods are installed, Battle Extras can suppress Mega Showdown's duplicate battle HUD previews, stat-stage badges and move-inspector tooltip. There is a config toggle for this, and a Battle Extras-provided Mega Showdown config screen so you don't have to edit JSON by hand.[7]

1.10.34 added switch matchup colored borders on the switch screen, controlled by the Switch Matchup Borders option. It also added damage range previews with KO callouts (Guaranteed KO, Possible KO, 2HKO Range, Unlikely KO), switch-screen damage previews, and a Move Damage Range toggle. The Has no effect label became Immune.[8]

1.8.29 to 1.7.24: early polish

  • 1.8.29 made Simplified the default battle nameplate style, with the old default renamed Full. It also added tooltips for the type icons under the portrait, improved the battle log and tooltip visuals, fixed Instant NPC Forfeit still working while turned off, and improved performance drastically.[9]
  • 1.8.30 fixed missing colors on move tooltips in other languages.[10]
  • 1.7.26 fixed a NeoForge z-layering issue and HUD batching, fixed the weakness tooltip config not turning off the battle info panel, and added right-click unbind for the battle back key option.[11]
  • 1.7.24 fixed translations for the new config screen.[12]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as cobblemon_battle_extras, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
