What is Ars Polymorphia?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Polymorphia is a small compatibility mod. It adds Polymorph support to the Storage Lecterns from Ars Nouveau, so you can craft items right from the Storage Lectern's terminal using the same ingredients you already have in it.[1]

What it does for you

Sometimes one group of ingredients matches more than one recipe. When that happens, a button appears above the output slot. Press it to see a list of every possible result, then pick the one you want and the crafting output changes to match.[1]

Polymorph remembers your last selection as long as the ingredients don't change. That means you can craft the same choice over and over without picking it again.[1]

Who it is for

It's for anyone who uses Ars Nouveau's Storage Lectern as a crafting terminal and runs into ingredient overlaps between recipes. If you never craft through a Storage Lectern, you won't notice this mod at all.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Ars Polymorphia 1.0.3. It has been in the pack since version 4.3 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]

Unverified The sources I have don't show this mod on the ATM Star path, and they don't show any quests, recipes or config options for it in this pack. Treat it as an optional convenience rather than a progression step.

How do you get started with Ars Polymorphia?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Good news: there's no long crafting chain to follow here. Ars Polymorphia adds Polymorph support for Ars Nouveau's Storage Lecterns, so you can craft items using the ingredients stored in the Storage Lectern's terminal.[1]

How to use it

The mod matters when the ingredients in the crafting grid match more than one recipe. In that case, a button appears above the output slot.[1]

  1. Open the Storage Lectern's terminal and put a group of ingredients into the crafting grid.[1]
  2. If the ingredients match more than one recipe, press the button above the output slot to see a list of all the possible results.[1]
  3. Select the result you want. The crafting output changes to match your choice.[1]
Tip: Polymorph remembers your last selection as long as the ingredients don't change, so you can craft the same selection repeatedly without picking it again.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests or items for this mod, so there is no first item to craft and no recipe to show here. Whether the pack changes anything about how it behaves is also unverified.

How does Ars Polymorphia work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Ars Polymorphia is a small compatibility mod. It has no machines, multiblocks or power systems of its own. It adds Polymorph support to Ars Nouveau's Storage Lecterns, so you can craft from the Storage Lectern's terminal and still choose between recipes that share the same ingredients.[1]

How recipe selection works

When you craft through the Storage Lectern's terminal, the ingredients you use are the ones the terminal already works with. If that group of ingredients matches more than one recipe, a button appears above the output slot.[1]

  1. Set up ingredients in the Storage Lectern's crafting terminal that match more than one recipe.[1]
  2. Click the button that appears above the output slot. It shows a list of all possible results.[1]
  3. Pick the result you want. The crafting output changes to match your choice.[1]

Polymorph remembers your last selection as long as the ingredients don't change. That means you can repeat the same craft without choosing again each time.[1]

Tip: If the output slot isn't the result you wanted, look for the button above it. It only shows up when the ingredients match more than one recipe.[1]

What isn't covered

Unverified Nothing available for this mod explains configuration options, items, recipes, or any power, fluid or automation handling. The only confirmed behavior is the recipe-selection button in the Storage Lectern terminal described above.

What changed in Ars Polymorphia between versions?

1 part

Ars Polymorphia has been in All the Mons since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. All the Mons 1.3.0 ships version 1.0.3 of the mod.[3]

Ars Polymorphia 1.0.3

  • Fix: recipes with empty results are now ignored. This is the only entry in the mod's own changelog for this version, and it is auto-generated.[4]

I don't have any changelog entries from the pack itself for this mod, so there's nothing more to report on how it has changed between All the Mons releases.[3]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ars_polymorphia, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
