What is Tool Belt?
1 part
Tool Belt adds two items you'll see in this pack: the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch. This pack ships version 1.20.03 of the mod (ToolBelt-1.20.1-1.20.03.jar), and it has been included since version 0.0.45.4 of the pack or earlier.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Tool Belt is in the pack, and the quest book gives it its own quest, "Tool Belt" quest. It sits in the chapter "Useful mods and Items", which is chapter 3 of 44 in the book and holds 37 quests.[1][2]
The quest has two item tasks, one for the Tool Belt and one for the Belt Pouch. It has no description text of its own.[2]
Tool Belt is one of the mods in the pack, and its quest sits in the same chapter as other quests that ask for items, such as "Magnet" quest, "Construction Wand" quest and "Building Gadget" quest. The chapter's listing doesn't show which quest comes directly before or after the Tool Belt quest, and it doesn't name a group for it.[1][2]
How do you get started with Tool Belt?
4 parts
The pack's quest book is a good place to start. In the chapter "Useful mods and Items", the "Tool Belt" quest quest asks you to get two items: the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch.[2][3]
Step 1: craft the Tool Belt
Make the Tool Belt first. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so go by the in-pack version below.[4]
Step 2: craft the Belt Pouch
The Belt Pouch is the second item the quest asks for. Its recipe was also changed by the pack.[2][4]
Step 3: learn the controls
The mod registers these key bindings under the "Tool Belt" category in your controls screen: Swap Tool, Cycle Tool Left, Cycle Tool Right and Open Belt Slot Inventory. Rebind them there if the defaults clash with something else.[3]
The belt's tooltip shows its upgrades and how many slots it has, so hover over it to check what you've got.[3]
What can go on the belt
In this pack general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true, so non-stackable items are allowed on the belt by default. The general.blacklist lists the Sophisticated Backpacks backpacks (the basic, copper, iron, gold, diamond and netherite ones), so those can't go on the belt. The general.whitelist is empty.[6]
The belt slot setting general.customBeltSlotMode is set to "ON" in this pack. Its comment says AUTO would disable the belt slot when Curios is present, and OFF would disable it permanently.[5]
How does Tool Belt work?
3 parts
The sources for Tool Belt cover two items, the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch, plus a few keybinds and some config options that this pack sets. They describe no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, so this section sticks to what the sources show.[3][5][6]
Crafting the belt and pouch
Both items are made with shaped crafting, and the pack has changed both recipes from the mod's defaults. What you see below is the pack's version.[4]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
Crafting Shaped

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
The mod can swap these grid recipes for sewing recipes if the Sewing Kit mod is present. general.enableGridCraftingRecipes is set to AUTO, which disables the belt and pouch crafting recipes when Sewing Kit is installed. general.enableSewingKitSupport is true, so sewing support is switched on.[5]
general.anvilUpgrading is also AUTO. In that mode the crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics when Sewing Kit is present. Setting it to OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless.[5]
Using the belt
The mod adds its own keybind category called Tool Belt, with these bindings: Swap Tool, Cycle Tool Left, Cycle Tool Right and Open Belt Slot Inventory. Check your Controls screen to see or change the keys, because the sources don't give the defaults.[3]
The belt's tooltip reads "Upgrades: %s (%s slots)", so it lists the belt's upgrades and slot count.[3]
general.customBeltSlotMode is set to ON in this pack. At AUTO the belt slot would be disabled whenever Curios is present, and at OFF it would be disabled permanently.[5]
What can go in the belt
The item rules live in the server config. general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true here. The file's own note says that setting it to false means stackable items are no longer allowed by default.[6]
general.blacklist lists items that can't be placed in the belt. In this pack it holds the sophisticatedbackpacks backpacks: the plain backpack, plus the copper, iron, gold, diamond and netherite versions. So you can't tuck one of those backpacks into your belt.[6]
general.whitelist force-allows items and takes precedence over the blacklist. It is empty in this pack, so nothing on the blacklist is overridden.[6]
How do you progress through Tool Belt?
3 parts
Tool Belt doesn't have a long tier ladder in this pack. The sources show two items, the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch, and each has its own crafting recipe.[2][4]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book has a single quest for this mod, "Tool Belt" quest, in the chapter "Useful mods and Items". The quest asks you to get both the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch.[2]
Crafting the belt
The pack has changed the recipe for the Tool Belt, so don't assume the mod's default recipe applies. Here is the in-pack version:[4]
Crafting the pouch
The Belt Pouch recipe is also changed by the pack. This is the one you'll craft in this pack:[4]
Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Tool Belt?
Tool Belt has one quest in the pack's quest book, in the chapter "Useful mods and Items".[2]
The quest is "Tool Belt" quest, and it asks you to obtain two items: the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch.[2]
There is no Tool Belt questline to follow. This is the only Tool Belt quest in the chapter, and the quest sources show no description for it.[2]
Which Tool Belt config options matter?
3 parts
Tool Belt's settings in this pack are split across a server file in defaultconfigs, a common file and a client file. Here is how the pack sets the options you are most likely to care about.[5][6][7]
What can go on the belt
- general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true. If it were false, stackable items would no longer be allowed by default.[6]
- general.blacklist blocks these backpacks from the belt: Backpack, Copper Backpack, Iron Backpack, Gold Backpack, Diamond Backpack and Netherite Backpack.[6]
- general.whitelist is empty. Anything you put there is force-allowed and takes precedence over the blacklist.[6]
Belt slot and recipes
- general.customBeltSlotMode is set to "ON". With AUTO the belt slot would be disabled if Curios is present, and OFF disables it permanently.[5]
- general.enableGridCraftingRecipes is "AUTO". In that mode the belt and pouch crafting recipes are disabled if the Sewing Kit mod is present, and sewing recipes are used instead.[5]
- general.anvilUpgrading is "AUTO". In that mode the crafting and upgrade recipes use the Sewing mechanics if the Sewing Kit mod is present. OFF disables anvil upgrading regardless.[5]
- general.enableSewingKitSupport is true. Setting it to false would turn off sewing recipe support even when the mod is present.[5]
Display and radial menu
- display.beltItemScale is 0.5, within an allowed range of 0.1 to 2.0. It changes the scale of items on the belt.[7]
- display.showBeltOnPlayers is true. If set to false, belts and tools are not drawn on players.[7]
- menu.releaseToSwap is false, so the radial menu needs a click to activate a swap. If true, releasing the menu key (R) activates it.[7]
- menu.displayEmptySlots is false. If true, the radial menu always shows every slot, even empty ones, and lets you choose which empty slot to insert into.[7]
- menu.allowClickOutsideBounds is false. If true, you can click outside the outer circle to activate items.[7]
- menu.clipMouseToCircle is false. If true, the menu tries to stop the mouse from leaving the outer circle.[7]
