What is Nolijium?
2 parts
Nolijium is a collection of quality-of-life enhancements by Nolij, with optional Embeddium support and integration. The Embeddium integration is listed for NeoForge 21+ and LexForge 20.1, but not for Fabric 21+, because Embeddium does not currently support Fabric 21+. This pack ships version 0.5.6.[1][2]
What it does
Most of it is about controlling how the game looks and what it shows you. Here are the highlights from the mod's feature table, which lists support for NeoForge 21+, Fabric 21+ and LexForge 20.1. Where a platform differs, I say so below.[1]
- A light level overlay, which the table lists for NeoForge 21+ and Fabric 21+ but not for LexForge 20.1.[1]
- A HUD with accurate and efficient FPS tracking, including 0.1% lows, listed for all three platforms.[1]
- Chat tweaks, including customizing the maximum chat history, listed for all three platforms.[1]
- An advanced tooltip info toggle, listed for all three platforms.[1]
- Toggles for texture animations, the sky, weather, font shadows, toasts and particles, listed for all three platforms.[1]
- Customization options for the star renderer, listed for all three platforms. Fog customization is listed for NeoForge 21+ and LexForge 20.1, while the Fabric 21+ column marks it as coming soon.[1]
- Pure Darkness and an opaque block outlines toggle, listed for all three platforms. Chroma block outlines with a block shape overlay are listed for NeoForge 21+ and LexForge 20.1, with only partial support on Fabric 21+, where behaviour may be better on other platforms.[1]
- A potion revert that adds back the potion glint and reverts the colours, listed for all three platforms.[1]
Where the config lives
The mod uses one global config file at .minecraft/global/nolijium.json5. That is the default .minecraft folder, not the instance one, and the config is synced between instances on the same machine. You can edit it while the game is running and it reloads automatically.[1]
How do you get started with Nolijium?
4 parts
Nolijium is a collection of quality-of-life tweaks with optional Embeddium integration. It adds a performance HUD, a light level overlay, chat improvements and a lot of rendering toggles. Your first steps are all in the config file.[1]
Step one: turn on the HUD
In this pack the HUD is switched off: hudEnabled is false. Set it to true and you get a performance readout on screen. hudShowFPS is already SIMPLE, which shows a plain FPS value. EXTENDED adds a MIN (0.1% low), MAX and AVG value.[3]
Coordinates, CPU usage and memory usage are each off in this pack. Flip hudShowCoordinates, hudShowCPU or hudShowMemory if you want them. You can also move the HUD with hudAlignmentX and hudAlignmentY.[3]
Step two: enable the light level overlay
enableLightLevelOverlay is false in this pack. When enabled, it marks blocks where the block light level above them is below 8. Red means light level 0 and yellow means light levels 1 to 7. The option is documented as exclusive to NeoForge 21+.[1][3]
Step three: tidy up chat
- maxChatHistory is 100 here, the same as vanilla. Raise it if you want more messages kept.[3]
- keepChatHistory is false. Enable it to keep chat history when you leave a server, so it only clears when Minecraft closes.[3]
- rememberChatBarContents is set to UNTIL_USER_CLOSED. That remembers an unsent message only if the server closed the chat bar, not if you pressed escape.[3]
Last: cut the noise or gain performance
Everything below is off in this pack, so nothing is hidden or disabled until you change it. For popups, there are separate toggles such as hideRecipeToasts, hideAdvancementToasts and hideAllToasts. For visuals and performance, look at hideParticles, disableTextureAnimations, disableWeatherRendering and disableFog.[3]
How does Nolijium work?
7 parts
Nolijium doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. The sources describe it as a collection of quality of life enhancements by Nolij, with optional Embeddium support and integration. So the mechanics worth knowing are the settings you can change, and you'll find them in the sections below.[1]
How the config works
The mod page says the config lives at .minecraft/global/nolijium.json5, in the default .minecraft folder rather than the instance one. That's a global file, so it's synced between instances on the same machine. You can edit it while the game is running and it reloads automatically. The pack's own copy is shown as config/nolijium.json5.[1][3]
There are two easy ways to edit it. The config button in the NeoForge mods screen opens the text file in your default editor. The optional Embeddium options screen integration is described as probably the easiest way, though the page notes that Embeddium does not currently support Fabric 21+.[1]
Light level overlay
enableLightLevelOverlay shows an overlay on blocks when the block light level above them is below 8. It's red for light level 0 and yellow for light levels 1 to 7. The config comment says it's exclusive to NeoForge 21+, and in this pack it is switched off.[3]
Performance HUD
The HUD is off in this pack (hudEnabled is false). When enabled, it draws a HUD on the screen showing useful performance statistics.[3]
- hudShowFPS is SIMPLE in the pack, which shows a simple FPS value. EXTENDED adds MIN (0.1% low), MAX and AVG values, and NONE shows no FPS information.[3]
- hudFrameTimeBufferSize is 10 seconds of frame time history. It only applies when the FPS mode is EXTENDED.[3]
- hudRefreshRateTicks is 1 tick in the pack. A value of 0 refreshes every frame, and lower values may reduce performance.[3]
- You can also toggle coordinates, CPU usage and memory usage with hudShowCoordinates, hudShowCPU and hudShowMemory. All of these are off in the pack.[3]
- Position comes from hudAlignmentX (LEFT or RIGHT), hudAlignmentY (TOP or BOTTOM), and margins of 5 pixels set by hudMarginX and hudMarginY.[3]
Fog, sky and lighting
Fog is controlled by fogMultiplier and fogStartMultiplier, both 1 in the pack, plus fogOverride, which sets the fog distance in chunks (0 means unused). disableFog turns terrain fog off entirely. The pack leaves all of these at their defaults.[3]
Stars can be tuned with starCount (1500), starBrightness (0.5) and starScale (0.1). minimumSkyLightLevel is 0.2, the same as vanilla. enablePureDarkness makes light level 0 render pitch black, and it is off in the pack.[3]
Rendering toggles
Several toggles switch off visual features, and all are false in the pack. They cover sky rendering (disableSky), weather rendering (disableWeatherRendering), weather entirely (disableWeatherTicking), animated textures (disableTextureAnimations), font shadows (disableFontShadows) and block light flicker (disableBlockLightFlicker).[3]
hideParticles prevents all particles from rendering, while hideParticlesByID prevents specific particles based on their ID, such as minecraft:block. Modded particles are supported too, and the list is empty in the pack.[3]
Toasts have separate switches: hideAllToasts, hideAdvancementToasts, hideRecipeToasts, hideSystemToasts and hideTutorialToasts. All are false in the pack.[3]
Chat
maxChatHistory sets how many messages are kept, and the pack uses 100, the same as vanilla. keepChatHistory stops chat from being cleared when you leave a server. keepChatBarOpen ignores the server if it tells your client to close the chat bar, for example after a teleport.[3]
rememberChatBarContents is set to UNTIL_USER_CLOSED in the pack, so an unsent message is only remembered if the server closed the chat bar. The other options are UNTIL_SENT and NEVER, and NEVER matches vanilla. The file's own comment names UNTIL_ESCAPED as the default, which doesn't match its list of options, so go by the value actually set in the file.[3]
Outlines, chroma and tooltips
The chroma options are off in the pack: enableChromaBlockOutlines, enableChromaHUD, enableChromaToolTips and chromaBlockShapeOverlay. chromaSpeed is 0.5, and higher values cycle faster.[3]
enableOpaqueBlockOutlines removes transparency from block outlines. enableToolTipInfo adds useful information to the tooltips of links and clickable text in chat and other UIs. Both are off in the pack.[3]
revertDamageCameraTilt reverts the fix for MC-26678, and revertPotions restores potion effects to their original form. Both are off in the pack. Rejoin a multiplayer server, or close and reopen a singleplayer world, to affect particles after changing the potion setting.[3]
Which Nolijium config options matter?
5 parts
Nolijium keeps all its settings in a single config file. Good news: this pack leaves nearly everything at the mod default, so you start with a clean slate and turn on only what you want. The one value that differs from the default noted in the file is the chat bar setting below.[3]
The one value the pack changed
rememberChatBarContents is set to UNTIL_USER_CLOSED in this pack. That means your unsent message or command is only remembered if the server closed the chat bar (for example when you get teleported). If you close it yourself with escape, it is forgotten. The file's own note lists the mod default as UNTIL_ESCAPED. The other options are UNTIL_SENT, which remembers the text until you actually send it, and NEVER, which matches vanilla.[3]
Performance HUD
The HUD is switched off in this pack, so you will not see any stats until you flip hudEnabled to true. Once it is on, here is what you get:[3]
- hudShowFPS is SIMPLE, which shows a plain FPS value. EXTENDED adds the MIN (0.1% low), MAX and AVG values, and NONE hides FPS.[3]
- hudShowCoordinates, hudShowCPU and hudShowMemory are all false.[3]
- The HUD sits at the LEFT and TOP of the screen (hudAlignmentX and hudAlignmentY), offset 5 pixels from the edge by hudMarginX and hudMarginY. Background and shadow are both on.[3]
Chat
- maxChatHistory is 100, the same as vanilla. Raise it if you want to scroll back further.[3]
- keepChatHistory is false, so chat history clears when you leave a server.[3]
- keepChatBarOpen is false, so the server can still close your chat bar.[3]
Visual and lighting options
Fog, sky, weather, texture animations and font shadows are all untouched: disableFog, disableSky, disableWeatherRendering, disableTextureAnimations and disableFontShadows are all false.[3]
- fogMultiplier is 1, so fog distance is not scaled.[3]
- fogStartMultiplier is 1, so fog start distance is not scaled.[3]
- fogOverride is 0, which means no explicit fog distance is forced.[3]
- starCount is 1500, starBrightness is 0.5 and starScale is 0.1.[3]
enableLightLevelOverlay is off. When enabled, it marks blocks whose light level above is below 8: red for light level 0 and yellow for 1 to 7. The file notes it is exclusive to NeoForge 21+.[3]
Toasts and particles
Nothing is hidden by default here. hideAllToasts, hideRecipeToasts, hideAdvancementToasts and hideParticles are all false, and hideParticlesByID is an empty list. If recipe toasts get noisy in a big pack, that is the one to flip.[3]
What changed in Nolijium between versions?
1 part
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Nolijium 0.5.6. The mod has been in the pack since 0.0.51.2 or earlier, so you won't see it arrive in this release.[2]
Nolijium 0.5.6
The mod's own changelog for the version in this pack lists two changes:[2][4]
- A fix for the Mod Menu config button not working.[4]
- General stability improvements and other minor adjustments.[4]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there's nothing more to report about how it changed between pack releases.[2]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as nolijium, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
