What is Neko's Enchanted Books?

2 parts

Neko's Enchanted Books is a small Forge mod that gives every Enchanted Book in vanilla Minecraft its own unique texture. Instead of a pile of identical purple books, you can tell what each one holds at a glance.[1]

It is a visual mod. The sources describe it as adding textures, nothing more, so don't expect new items, recipes or mechanics from it.[1]

Mod compatibility

The mod also has texture compatibility with a long list of other mods, so enchantments added by them can get their own looks too. That list includes Apotheosis, Ensorcellation, Create, Supplementaries, Farmer's Delight, Alex's Mobs and Wonderful Enchantments, among others.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Neko's Enchanted Books 2.0.3, built for Minecraft 1.19.3. It was first included in version 0.0.45.4 of the pack or earlier, and it is still there in 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2.[2]

How do you get started with Neko's Enchanted Books?

1 part

Good news: there's nothing to craft or set up here. Neko's Enchanted Books is a small Forge mod that gives every Enchanted Book in vanilla Minecraft its own unique texture.[1]

So your first step is simply to get enchanted books the way you normally would. Once you have one, the new texture shows up on its own, and you can tell what each book does at a glance instead of opening the tooltip.[1]

Works with other enchantment mods

The mod also shares compatibility with a long list of other mods, so books from those mods can get their own textures too. That list includes Apotheosis, Ensorcellation, Ma Enchants, Wonderful Enchantments, Shulker Enchantments, Create, Supplementaries and Farmer's Delight, among others.[1]

Tip: A mod being on the compatibility list doesn't tell you it's installed in the pack. If a book from another mod still looks like a plain book, that's the first thing to check.[1]

Unverified Pack-specific recipes, quests and config options for this mod could not be confirmed from the available sources, so none are listed here.

How does Neko's Enchanted Books work?

1 part

Neko's Enchanted Books is a small Forge mod with a very simple job: it gives every Enchanted Book in vanilla Minecraft its own unique texture. That is the whole mechanic, so you won't be wiring up anything here.[1]

The sources I have don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling for this mod, so there is nothing to set up or automate. It doesn't need its own workflow. You use Enchanted Books as you normally would.[1]

Compatibility with other mods

Beyond vanilla books, the mod says it shares compatibility with the mods below. Whether each of these is actually installed in this pack is not something the sources confirm, so treat the list as what the mod supports in general.[1]

  • Advent of Ascension 3, Alex's Mobs, Allurement and Apotheosis[1]
  • BetterDefaultBiomes, BetterEnd (Forge), Big Brain and Brooms[1]
  • Charm, Corpse Complex, Create and Elenai Dodge 2[1]
  • Ensorcellation, Farmer's Delight, Fins and Tails and Greed N' Bleed[1]
  • Jellyfishing, Locks, Ma Enchants and Mining Master[1]
  • Momentum, Seeker's Compass, Shulker Enchantments and Step, Leap, Dash[1]
  • Supplementaries, VanillaTweaks, Veinmining, Wall-Jump! and Wonderful Enchantments[1]

Unverified No config options, recipes or in-game descriptions for this mod could be confirmed from the available sources, so there are no pack-specific values to list here. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

What changed in Neko's Enchanted Books between versions?

3 parts

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Neko's Enchanted Books 2.0.3 (file NekosEnchantedBooks-1.19.3-2.0.3.jar). It was first included in 0.0.45.4 or earlier. The changes below come from the mod's own changelogs, covering 2.0 up to the version in your pack.[2][3]

2.0: automatic model loading

2.0 was a huge overhaul. Its main new feature is automatic model loading, which lets users add compatibility for whatever enchantments they like without the mod needing native support for them. It also supports a wider range of game versions.[3]

2.0 also brought native compatibility for a batch of new enchantments on top of those from 1.8. That includes breach, density and wind burst from the mace backport, plus enchantments from mods like Allurement, Sortilege, Combat Roll and Better Archeology. The changelog I have is cut off, so the full list isn't shown here.[3]

2.0.2

  • Fixed F3 + T causing models to fail to load.[3]
  • Fixed the Spread of Ailments texture not using a transparent background.[3]
  • Fixed some Apotheosis enchantment books not showing their textures, and fixed Lightweight from Feathers not showing its texture.[3]
  • Fixed the mod not correctly logging enchantments that have no model. They are now logged in alphabetical order in a single log message.[3]
  • Added support for Forge 1.21. Fabric and NeoForge support were planned for a later date.[3]

2.0.3 (the version in your pack)

  • Refactored a lot of backend code, mostly to prepare for multiloader support later. The class that handles the item model overrides is now completely mod loader agnostic, and mixins were translated to coremods.[3]
  • Fixed 1.16.1 to 1.19.2 not working at all.[3]
  • Added support for 1.13.2, 1.14.4, 1.15.x, 1.21.3 and 1.21.4.[3]
  • Performance improvements for 1.18 and older when baking models, on startup and on F3 + T.[3]
  • The source jars for 1.13.2 to 1.16.5 are now in SRG names, which helps developers.[3]

Most of 2.0.3 is backend work and version support, so it's mainly aimed at modders and other game versions rather than changing anything you'd notice in the pack.[3]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as nebs, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
