Apotheosis is a mod in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2, where it is version 7.4.8. All things that should have been (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Apotheosis?

1 part

Apotheosis is a content mod that makes you stronger while staying close to vanilla mechanics. It is split into modules: Apothic Attributes (new attributes and potion effects), Apothic Spawners (pick up and modify mob spawners), Apothic Enchanting (a full overhaul of enchanting) and the adventure module, which brings Affixes, Gems and World Tiers. This pack includes version 7.4.8 for 1.20.1.[1][2]

The adventure side gives you procedurally generated loot with powerful bonuses, but new foes show up too. The mod has five World Tiers, and the higher you climb, the better the loot and the tougher the enemies.[1][3]

Where it sits in the quest book

Apotheosis first shows up in the chapter "The Beginning" (group "Storyline", chapter 4 of 44 in the book). The quest "Apotheosis" quest asks for an Enchanting Table and a Bookshelf, and it comes after a quest called Obsidian. On the mod side, the Enchanting Module is responsible for all the changes to the enchanting system. That chapter has 58 quests and part of its text isn't covered here, so check the quest book for the rest.[4][5]

The shelf line then continues in the chapter "Nether" (group "Storyline", chapter 5 of 44, 60 quests). The in-game guide has a Level Progression section that gives an overview of how to upgrade your Enchanting Table. Here is what the Apotheosis quests ask of you and how they chain together:[6][7]

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

5 parts

In this pack, Apotheosis is mostly about the enchanting side of the mod. The enchantment, potion and spawner modules are on, while the adventure, garden and village modules are switched off. So your first steps are about building up your enchanting setup with shelves, and the quest book walks you through it.[8]

Watch out: The pack turns off [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Give Book on First Join]], so new players are not handed the Chronicle of Shadows. [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Adventure Module]] is off too, and that is the module that provides affixes and gems, so don't plan around affix loot in this pack.[1][8]

Enchanting table and a bookshelf

Your first Apotheosis quest is "Apotheosis" quest, in the "The Beginning" chapter of the Storyline group. The quest asks you to hand in an enchanting table and a bookshelf, and it comes after the "Obsidian" quest quest. Two quests follow it, one of them called "Information". The mod's own advancement for this stage is to obtain an enchanting table and begin to unveil the mystery.[4][9]

The quest book does not ask for it, but the Stoneshelf has its own crafting recipe if you want a simple shelf to start with.[4][10]

The Hellshelf line in the Nether

The shelf quests continue in the "Nether" chapter of the Storyline group. a quest in "Nether" asks you to hand in the Hellshelf, the shelf that the infusion recipe for the Infused Hellshelf takes as its input. The quest comes after the potion quest, the "Find a fortress" quest and a blaze rod quest.[6][10]

Next comes a quest in "Nether". You get the Infused Hellshelf through infusion enchanting, with the Hellshelf as the input. After that, a quest in "Nether" and a quest in "Nether" both branch off from it.[6][9][10]

Enchanting (apotheosis)

Deepshelf

a quest in "Nether" unlocks once you have done both the Glowing and Blazing Hellshelf quests. You craft the Dormant Deepshelf first, then activate it with an enchanting recipe to get the Deepshelf, which is the goal of a quest in "Nether".[6][9][10]

Where the shelves go from there

The Deepshelf quest opens two branches: a quest in "Nether" and a quest in "Nether". Each leads on to a sculkshelf quest, a quest in "Nether" and a quest in "Nether". Both sculkshelf recipes use a Warden Tendril, and this pack adds its own recipe that gives 9 of them per craft.[6][10]

How does Apotheosis work?

8 parts

Apotheosis is trimmed down in this pack. The Enchantment, Potion and Spawner modules stay on, but the pack switches off [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Adventure Module]], [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Garden Module]] and [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Village Module]] (the mod default for all three is on). It also turns off [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Give Book on First Join]]. Affixes and gems belong to the Adventure Module, so this section sticks to the enchanting overhaul, charms and spawners.[1][8]

Enchanting stats

Enchanting here depends on more than your level. There are currently five extra stats, and blocks that provide them show them on their tooltip. Eterna is the main one: each point raises the maximum enchanting level by two.[11]

Quanta controls variance. The game picks a value between 1 minus Quanta and 1 plus Quanta and multiplies it by the level you spent, so high Quanta makes your results less consistent. Rectification raises the lower end of that range: the minimum becomes 1 - (1 - R) * Quanta, so more Rectification is always good and negative Rectification is always bad.[11]

Arcana controls the rarity weights and, at certain thresholds, adds extra enchantments. At 25% you will always receive at least two enchantments, and at 75% you will always receive three. By default the weights are Common 10, Uncommon 5, Rare 3 and Very Rare 1, and every 10% of Arcana shifts them until they are fully inverted. Clues are the last stat: each one lets you preview one more enchantment, and you can even drop to zero clues and see nothing.[11]

To see what you can roll, put an item in the table and click the question mark in the top right. The info screen shows each slot's level, Min Power and Max Power, plus every available enchantment with its rarity and chance. A power slider lets you simulate other power levels.[12]

Everything in enchanting is tied to your Enchanting Seed, which only changes when you enchant an item. Until then, the enchantments offered for a slot stay the same.[13]

Climbing to level 100

The table's level cap is raised by the shelves around it. Here is the path the in-game guide lays out.[14][15][16][17]

  1. Level 30 works the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves.[14]
  2. Level 45: add Hellshelf blocks to your bookshelves, or build Seashelf blocks from the ocean if you would rather skip the Nether.[10][15]
  3. Level 60: use Infusion Enchanting to turn your shelves into Infused Hellshelf or Infused Seashelf blocks, then upgrade them. Make a few more of the type you use.[10][15]
  4. Level 70: you need a Level 60 table and Deepslate. Craft a Dormant Deepshelf, then infuse it into a Deepshelf. The infusion needs extra blocks nearby to reach its stat threshold.[10][16]
  5. Level 75: upgrade your Deepshelves with materials from the Deep Dark. Echo Shards come from Ancient Cities, and Sculk needs Silk Touch.[16]
  6. Level 80: slay the Warden to craft Sculkshelves. The Echoing and Soul-Touched Sculkshelf recipes each start from the matching Deepshelf variant and use a Warden Tendril.[9][10][16]
  7. Level 90: you need a Level 80 table and Dragon's Breath. Infusing it makes Infused Dragon's Breath, the core of an Endshelf.[10][17]
  8. Level 100: a Draconic Endshelf is the only shelf that reaches it. It needs a Dragon Head from the outer End, lifts a Level 90 table to Level 100 and gives no other stats.[17]

Infusion Enchanting

Infusion Enchanting is a crafting method done in the enchanting table. Each recipe takes one item and has three stat requirements, each with a minimum and sometimes a maximum. It only uses the third slot and lets you over-spend experience. Place the item in; if your stats fit, the third slot lights up and clicking it performs the infusion.[18]

Special shelves

The Rectifier line is a three-step chain: Shelf of Seabound Rectification, then Shelf of Hellbound Rectification, then Shelf of End-Fused Rectification. The recipes are below.[10]

The Seashelf of Aquatic Filtration lets you blacklist enchantments. Insert up to six single-enchantment books, the same way you use a chiseled bookshelf, and those enchantments stop appearing in the table. The shelf also gains stats based on how many books it holds. It must sit in a valid bookshelf slot to work, and the blacklist shows in the info screen.[19]

The Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures makes treasure enchantments appear while enchanting when it sits in a valid slot. Most curses are treasure enchantments.[20]

Sculkshelves can make sounds. [[config:config/apotheosis/ench.cfg#client.Sculkshelf Noise Chance]] is the 1/n chance per client tick, and the pack keeps the default of 200. Setting it to 0 disables the sound.[21]

Enchantment Library

The Enchantment Library stores enchantments as points when you insert enchanted books. Each library has a Level Capacity, and anything above it is voided. Clicking a stored enchantment extracts one level, and shift-clicking extracts the most levels possible. You can also put a book in the output slot to add enchantments to it. The library can only extract up to the highest level ever inserted for each enchantment.[22]

The standard library has a Level Capacity of sixteen (XVI). The Library of Alexandria has a Level Capacity of thirty-one (XXXI), cannot be crafted directly and is made through Infusion Enchanting.[22]

Tomes and anvils

The Tome of Scrapping combined with an item in an anvil destroys the item and gives you a book with half of its enchantments, rounded up, chosen using your Enchanting Seed. The Tome of Superior Scrapping takes all the enchantments. The Tome of Extraction also takes all of them without destroying the item.[23]

Enchanting (apotheosis)

Recipe id: apotheosis:enchanting/improved_scrap_tome

Enchanting (apotheosis)

Recipe id: apotheosis:enchanting/extraction_tome

Anvils are enchantable, have no level limits and can be repaired in an anvil with Iron Blocks. Two anvil-only enchantments work by dropping an enchanted anvil onto a thrown book. Splitting turns a multi-enchantment book into one book per enchantment. Obliteration turns a book with exactly one enchantment into two books, each one level lower. Cobwebs remove all enchantments in an anvil, and Prismatic Cobwebs remove all curses.[24][25][26][27]

Costs and vanilla tweaks

Enchanting tables and anvils charge the optimal amount of experience instead of a flat number of levels. For tables, you pay as if you had exactly the levels you needed. For anvils, the cost is counted from zero.[28]

Protection is no longer exclusive with its subtypes, so you can combine Protection with one other defensive enchantment. To balance this, each protection point gives 2.5% damage reduction up to 85%, where vanilla gives 4% up to 80%.[29]

Potion charms and spawners

A Potion Charm staggers a potion's effect. Right-click to enable it (it glows when active). While it is active and in your inventory it applies a couple of seconds of the potion at a time and uses durability, then breaks when empty. Infusion Enchanting can make a charm Unbreakable, but the recipe demands a firm grasp of the enchanting stats.[30][31]

In this pack [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Restrict Charms to Curios]] is false, so charms work in the inventory and not only in a Curios slot. The pack changes [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Extended Potion Charms]] to Night Vision and Health Boost, which are reapplied at a longer threshold to avoid problems at low durations. It also empties [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Blacklisted Potion Charm Effects]], so no effect is blocked from charms.[32]

The Spawner Module lets you move and modify mob spawners. Here, harvesting one needs a Silk Touch level of 1 ([[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#general.Spawner Silk Level]]), and the tool takes 100 durability damage ([[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#general.Spawner Silk Damage]]). The pack empties [[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#spawn_eggs.Banned Mobs]], so no mob is banned from being applied to a spawner by egg.[33][34]

Tip: The pack changed the recipes for the Treasure Shelf, Hellshelf of Sight and Hellshelf of Masterful Sight, so check them in JEI instead of relying on mod defaults. The pack also adds its own recipe for Warden Tendrils.[10]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

5 parts

Apotheosis progression is a ladder of Enchanting Table levels, and each rung is unlocked by a new kind of shelf. The highest level a table can reach is 100. In this pack the quest book walks you up the ladder, mostly through the Nether chapter of the Storyline group.[6][7][17]

Up to level 30

Level 30 is reached the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves. The quest "Apotheosis" quest in The Beginning chapter asks for an enchanting table and a bookshelf, and it comes after the Obsidian quest. Two more quests follow it: Information and an untitled checkmark quest.[4][14]

Tip: At this stage you can also push other stats with candles, skulls and amethyst clusters. The Stat modulation quest "Stat modulation" quest in the same chapter asks for a candle and a skeleton skull.[4][14]

Levels 30 to 60: Hellshelves or Seashelves

To reach level 45 you make some Hellshelves and add them to your existing bookshelves. In the quest book, a quest in "Nether" for the Hellshelf sits in the Nether chapter (chapter 5 of 44), after a potion quest, the Find a fortress quest and a blaze rod quest.[6][15]

If you don't like the Nether, you can go to the ocean and make Seashelves instead. Either way, level 60 comes from infusion enchanting: you make a few more of the shelf type you were using, infuse them, and the upgraded shelves on top of your old ones take you to level 60.[15]

The a quest in "Nether" quest comes right after the Hellshelf quest. Both a quest in "Nether" and a quest in "Nether" follow it, and the Dormant Deepshelf quest comes after those two.[6]

At this tier you can also make Sightshelves, and Rectifiers if you have a steady supply of amethyst. The pack changed the recipes for both the Hellshelf of Sight and the Hellshelf of Masterful Sight, so use these ones rather than any you remember from the base mod.[10][15]

Levels 60 to 80: the Deepshelf line

Level 70 needs a level 60 table and access to deepslate. You craft a Dormant Deepshelf and then infuse it. The infusion needs some extra blocks to reach the stat threshold, and the result is a Deepshelf. In the quest book these are a quest in "Nether" and then a quest in "Nether".[6][16]

Levels 80 to 100: the End

Level 90 needs a level 80 table and access to Dragon's Breath. With those you make Infused Dragon's Breath, a core component of Endshelves. The quest a quest in "Nether" unlocks after the Echoing Sculkshelf quest, the Soul-Touched Sculkshelf quest and a dragon breath quest.[6][17]

Level 100 comes from a single Draconic Endshelf. It is enough to lift a table from level 90 to level 100, but it gives no other stat bonuses. Making it means venturing into the outer End to retrieve a Dragon Head. Its quest is a quest in "Nether", which comes after the Endshelf quest.[6][17]

Enchantment Library

The quest a quest in "Nether" for the Enchantment Library comes after both the Infused Hellshelf and Deepshelf quests in the Nether chapter. You can then upgrade it into the Library of Alexandria.[6][10]

How does Apotheosis work with other mods?

3 parts

Apotheosis connects to the rest of the pack in two main ways: a few pack-made crafting recipes that use its items, and the Nether quest chapter, where its enchanting shelves are laid out as a progression. Here is what the sources confirm.[6][10]

Recipes that tie Apotheosis to other mods

The pack adds a recipe for Sculk Alloy Ingot that is made in an Avaritia shaped table rather than a normal crafting grid. It uses the Warden Tendril as one of its inputs, and the script sets it to tier 1.[10][35]

The recipe for the Deepshelf of Arcane Treasures is changed by the pack, so don't treat it as the mod's default. It brings in Infinity 8, an item from the pack's own scripts. Check the recipe below for the exact in-pack version.[10]

Apotheosis in the quest book

The shelf quests are in the "Nether" chapter of the Storyline group. That chapter also has quests that ask for items from cataclysm and advancednetherite, so the shelf line sits alongside the pack's Nether gear quests.[6]

  1. a quest in "Nether" asks you to obtain the Hellshelf. In the book it comes after the potion, Find a fortress and blaze rod quests.[6]
  2. a quest in "Nether" asks you to obtain the Infused Hellshelf. After it come a quest in "Nether" (Blazing Hellshelf) and a quest in "Nether" (Glowing Hellshelf).[6]
  3. a quest in "Nether" (Dormant Deepshelf) is placed after both of those, then a quest in "Nether" (Deepshelf).[6]
  4. After the Deepshelf quest the book branches to a quest in "Nether" (Echoing Deepshelf) and a quest in "Nether" (Soul-Touched Deepshelf). Those are followed by a quest in "Nether" (Echoing Sculkshelf) and a quest in "Nether" (Soul-Touched Sculkshelf).[6]
  5. a quest in "Nether" asks you to obtain the Endshelf and comes after both sculkshelf quests plus a dragon breath quest. a quest in "Nether" (Draconic Endshelf) is placed after it.[6]

Two more Apotheosis quests are in the same chapter. a quest in "Nether" asks you to obtain the Enchantment Library and is placed after the Infused Hellshelf and Deepshelf quests. a quest in "Nether" asks you to obtain the Tome of the Miners and the book lists no earlier quest in front of it.[6]

Three quests in the Nether chapter aren't shown in the material for this guide, so check the quest book itself for them.[6]

Which Project Infinity 0.1 quests use Apotheosis?

2 parts

The pack's quest book asks for Apotheosis items in two chapters of the Storyline group: "The Beginning" (chapter 4 of 44 in the book) and "Nether" (chapter 5 of 44). The first has a quest named Apotheosis, and the second has the quests that ask you to collect the shelves.[4][6]

The Beginning

The quest "Apotheosis" quest asks you to hand in an Enchanting Table and a Bookshelf. The book places it after "Obsidian" quest, which asks for 8 obsidian.[4]

Two checkmark quests come after it: "Information" quest and an untitled one, a quest in "The Beginning". Both have a checkmark task, so they ask you to hand in no items.[4]

Nether

a quest in "Nether" asks for the Tome of the Miners and has no prerequisite quest in the book. The shelf quests form a chain, and the list below follows the order the book gives.[6]

  1. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Hellshelf. The book places it after three quests: a quest in "Nether", "Find a fortress" quest and a quest in "Nether".[6]
  2. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Infused Hellshelf and comes after the Hellshelf quest.[6]
  3. a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Glowing Hellshelf) and a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Blazing Hellshelf) both come after the Infused Hellshelf quest.[6]
  4. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Dormant Deepshelf and comes after both the Glowing and Blazing Hellshelf quests.[6]
  5. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Deepshelf and comes after the Dormant Deepshelf quest.[6]
  6. Two quests come after the Deepshelf quest: a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Echoing Deepshelf) and a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Soul-Touched Deepshelf).[6]
  7. Each of those has one more quest after it: a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Echoing Sculkshelf) follows the Echoing Deepshelf quest, and a quest in "Nether" (asks for the Soul-Touched Sculkshelf) follows the Soul-Touched Deepshelf quest.[6]
  8. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Endshelf. The book places it after both Sculkshelf quests and a dragon breath quest.[6]
  9. a quest in "Nether" asks for the Draconic Endshelf and comes right after the Endshelf quest.[6]

The Enchantment Library has its own quest, a quest in "Nether", which asks for it. The book places it after both the Infused Hellshelf and the Deepshelf quests, ahead of the later Sculkshelf and Endshelf quests.[6]

Which Apotheosis config options matter?

4 parts

Most of what matters in this pack's Apotheosis setup is which modules are switched on, plus a few changes to potion charms and spawners. Here is how the pack sets each option, and which ones it changed from the mod default.[8][32][34]

Modules

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Adventure Module]] is false (mod default true), so the pack turns the adventure module off. The mod's page lists Affixes, Gems and World Tiers as coming from that module.[1][8]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Garden Module]] and [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Village Module]] are both false too (mod default true for each), so those modules are off as well.[8]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Enchantment Module]], [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Potion Module]] and [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Enable Spawner Module]] stay true, the same as the mod default.[8]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/apotheosis.cfg#general.Give Book on First Join]] is false (mod default true), so new players are not handed the Chronicle of Shadows. The mod's page says the book can still be crafted, and that content disabled by a pack won't show up in it.[1][8]

Potion charms

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Blacklisted Potion Charm Effects]] is an empty list in this pack, so no effects are blacklisted from being crafted into Potion Charms. The file marks this as changed from the mod default.[32]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Extended Potion Charms]] lists night vision and health boost. Charms with those effects are reapplied at a longer threshold, which avoids problems at low durations. The file flags this as changed, though the default it records names the same two effects.[32]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Restrict Charms to Curios]] is false, the same as the mod default. Charms work from your inventory, not only from a curios slot.[32]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/potion.cfg#general.Knowledge XP Multiplier]] is set to 4. The file records no default for it and gives no description, so what it does is unverified.[32]

Spawners

  • [[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#spawn_eggs.Banned Mobs]] is an empty list, so no mobs are banned from being applied to spawners via egg. The pack changed this from the mod default.[34]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#general.Spawner Silk Level]] is 1, the mod default. That is the level of silk touch needed to harvest a spawner.[34]
  • [[config:config/apotheosis/spawner.cfg#general.Spawner Silk Damage]] is 100, the mod default. That is the durability damage dealt to the item that silk touches a spawner.[34]
Tip: If you want to change how spawners are harvested, Spawner Silk Level accepts -1 to disable harvesting and 0 to always drop the spawner. The enchantment module can also raise the maximum level of silk touch.[34]

Enchanting and client options

The two client options in the enchanting config are both at the mod default. [[config:config/apotheosis/ench.cfg#client.Show Enchanted Book Metadata]] is true, so enchanted book tooltips show details like treasure and tradeable. [[config:config/apotheosis/ench.cfg#client.Sculkshelf Noise Chance]] is 200, a 1 in 200 chance per client tick that a sculkshelf plays a sound, and 0 turns it off.[21]

The per-enchantment values are set in config/apotheosis/enchantments.cfg. I can't confirm any of those values here.[21]

What changed in Apotheosis between versions?

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Apotheosis 7.4.8, using the file Apotheosis-1.20.1-7.4.8.jar.[2]

Apotheosis was already in the pack by Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been there for a good while. The pack's mod list doesn't tell us which earlier Apotheosis version it started on.[2]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Apotheosis were available, and the detailed contents of the 7.4.8 changelog could not be confirmed here. Any specific changes between Apotheosis versions, or changes the pack made to the mod, are unverified.
