What is Neat?
2 parts
Neat puts a small unit frame above every entity, so you can see what you are fighting at a glance. Each frame shows the name, health and armor. The name is a pun on Tidy Plates.[1]
What you get
- It is fully client sided.[1]
- Health bars only show up if the mob is not obstructed.[1]
- The bar color shifts from green to yellow to red as the mob's health percentage drops.[1]
- It shows the mob's attribute (relevant for Smite or Bane of Arthropods) and its armor.[1]
- Health bars are grouped for mob stacks, like spider or chicken jockeys.[1]
- It works with Minecraft's Scoreboard Teams, so mobs and players in teams get a colored name.[1]
- It is very configurable, and there is a keybind to toggle the health bars.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Neat 1.20.1-41-FORGE. It was already included by an earlier version of the pack (0.0.45.4 or before), so it is a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]
How do you get started with Neat?
1 part
Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide
Good news: Neat has no first items to craft and no machine to set up. It adds Unit Frames above entities, so you see info such as name, health and armor without opening anything.[1]
It is fully client sided, so it only changes what you see on your own screen.[1]
What you will notice in the world
- Health bars only show up if the mob is not obstructed, so you won't see them through walls.[1]
- The bar color shifts from green to yellow to red as the mob's health percentage drops.[1]
- It shows the mob's attribute (the one that matters for Smite or Bane of Arthropods) and its armor.[1]
- Mob stacks, like spider or chicken jockeys, get their health bars grouped up.[1]
- If mobs and players are in Minecraft Scoreboard Teams, they get a colored name.[1]
Unverified No recipes, items or config files for Neat were found in this pack's data, so there is nothing to craft here and no pack-specific settings to confirm. The mod's page calls it very configurable, but the pack's own values are unverified.
How does Neat work?
1 part
Neat has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It is a display mod: it puts a unit frame above every entity, showing info such as name, health and armor. That makes this section short, because the mechanics are all about what the frames show and when.[1]
What the frames do
- It is fully client sided, so it only changes what you see on your own screen.[1]
- Health bars only show up if the mob is not obstructed.[1]
- The health bar color changes with the mob's health percentage, going from green to yellow to red.[1]
- It shows the mob's attribute (relevant for Smite or Bane of Arthropods) and its armor.[1]
- Health bars are grouped for mob stacks, such as spider or chicken jockeys.[1]
- It works with Minecraft's Scoreboard Teams, so mobs and players in teams get a colored name.[1]
- A keybind toggles the health bars on and off.[1]
Unverified The mod page calls Neat very configurable, but the sources here do not show any config options or values for this pack, or the default key for the toggle keybind.
Which Neat config options matter?
3 parts
Neat is fully client sided, so everything here only changes what you see on your own screen. All of it lives in one file, neat-client.toml, under the general section. Here is exactly how the pack sets the options you are most likely to touch.[1][3]
When bars show up
- general.max_distance is 24 blocks, and general.max_distance_without_line_of_sight is 8 blocks, so mobs you can't see only get a bar when they are close.[3]
- general.only_health_bar_for_target is false, so bars show on every mob in range, not just the one you are looking at. general.show_entity_full_health is true, so mobs at full health get a bar too.[3]
- Hostile mobs, passive mobs, bosses and players all get bars: general.show_on_hostile, general.show_on_passive, general.display_on_bosses and general.display_on_players are all true.[3]
- general.render_without_gui is false, so bars disappear when you hide the HUD with F1.[3]
- general.blacklist hides bars on these entities: shulker, armor_stand, cod, salmon, pufferfish, tropical_fish and tadpole.[3]
What the bar shows
- Name, current HP, max HP and HP percentage are all on: general.show_entity_name, general.show_current_hp, general.show_max_hp and general.show_hp_percentage are true.[3]
- general.show_armor and general.show_attributes are true. general.group_armor is also true, which groups 5 iron icons into 1 diamond icon.[3]
- general.color_health_bar_by_type is false, so the bar colour follows the mob's health percentage instead of its type.[1][3]
- general.decimal_format is "#.##" and general.text_color is "FFFFFF" (white). The file warns to only change the decimal format if you know how decimal formats work.[3]
Size and position
- general.plate_size is 25 and general.plate_size_boss is 50. A mob with a long name makes its bar wider to fit.[3]
- general.health_bar_height is 4, general.background_height is 6, general.background_padding is 2 and general.hp_text_height is 14. general.draw_background is true, so the gray plate is drawn.[3]
- general.height_above_mob is 0.6, and both general.icon_offset_x and general.icon_offset_y are 0.[3]
Unverified The sources don't list the mod's default values, so which of these settings the pack changed from the defaults is unconfirmed.
What changed in Neat between versions?
Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Neat 1.20.1-41-FORGE (the file Neat-1.20.1-41-FORGE.jar). The pack's mod list says Neat was first included in 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a while.[2]
The mod's own changelog for this build is the 1.20.1-41-FORGE release, but only its title was available to me, with no list of changes.[4]
Unverified What changed in Neat 1.20.1-41-FORGE, and whether any earlier Neat version was used in the pack, could not be confirmed from the available sources. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod either.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as neat, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
