What is JourneyMap?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.51 guide
JourneyMap is a real-time mapping mod: as you explore, it draws your world into a map you can check without ever leaving the game. You get a minimap in the corner of your screen, a full-screen map you can pan around, and the option to view the same map in a web browser while you play.[1]
It's a client-and-server mod, but the mapping itself happens on your client. The server side exists so server owners can control which JourneyMap features are allowed, and no mapping is done on the server. That means JourneyMap has to be present on the client for anything to show up at all.[1]
Both sides are optional, so you can connect to servers that don't have JourneyMap installed, and players without it can still join servers that do. In practice you can just play with it and not worry about who else has it.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
The pack ships the NeoForge build of JourneyMap, and it has been bundled since well before this release, so it's a long-standing part of the kit rather than a recent addition.[2]
There's no progression to unlock here. JourneyMap is a quality-of-life mod that works from your first minute in the world, and it isn't tied to any quest line or to the ATM Star path. Treat it as a utility you lean on constantly while you chase the goals of other mods: finding your way back to a base, marking a structure you want to return to, or scouting for a biome another mod needs.[1][2]
Unverified Specific keybinds, waypoint controls and any pack-side tweaks to JourneyMap's configuration could not be confirmed from the available sources for this pack version.
How do you get started with JourneyMap?
1 part
JourneyMap maps your world in real time as you explore, so there is nothing to craft before you start. You can view the map in game as a minimap or full-screen, or in a web browser.[1]
It is a client and server mod, but the server side only controls JourneyMap features. No mapping is done on the server, so JourneyMap needs to be installed on your client if you want to see anything.[1]
Your first steps
- Load into your world and start exploring. The map fills in as you move, and you can open it as a minimap or in full-screen.[1]
- Open the hotkeys screen from the options. It shows the hot keys you can use with the map, so you can learn the controls early.[3]
- If you want the map in your browser, use the web map. Its default port can be any value between 80 and 10000, and if that port is already in use JourneyMap tries to find an open one by increments of 10.[1][3]
- Tune the map style to taste. The options include contour lines for elevation, a biome map, seeing the ocean floor, and showing or hiding plants and crops.[3]
Unverified The sources I was given show no in-pack recipes, quests or config files for JourneyMap, so I can't confirm any crafting step or quest-book progression for it in this pack.
How does JourneyMap work?
4 parts
JourneyMap is a mapping mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to worry about here. Its "mechanics" are all about how the map gets built and drawn as you explore, and that's what this section covers.[1]
JourneyMap maps your world in real time as you explore. You can view the result as a minimap, as a fullscreen map in game, or in a web browser. It is a client+server mod, but the server side only controls JourneyMap features. No mapping is done on the server, so JourneyMap has to be on your client for anything to be displayed.[1]
How much of the world gets mapped
Four render distance options decide how many chunks around you are mapped. There is a minimum and a maximum for the surface (dimensions with a sky), and a minimum and a maximum for underground or dimensions with no sky. Chunks inside the minimum distance are always mapped, and some chunks out to the maximum are mapped eventually. Values greater than Minecraft's own render distance have no effect, and setting an option to 0 mirrors the video option chunk render range.[3]
The total chunk count is all the chunks in the minimum distance plus some of the chunks in the maximum distance. The terrain around you and your Cartography options change that number a lot.[3]
- Render delay is the time in seconds between render passes. Higher values can improve performance, but you may miss chunks while travelling.[3]
- Reveal shape is the shape of the area revealed around you. A circle reveals fewer chunks than a square and improves performance.[3]
- Always map surface and Always map caves keep the Overworld surface, or the caves in your vertical chunk, mapped even when you are somewhere else. Turning either off improves performance.[3]
- Show caves switches to the cave map when you are underground or indoors, and Show day night switches between the day and night map automatically.[3]
Map styles
The Cartography options control how the map images are created. Bathymetry shows the ocean floor and underwater terrain, the biome option provides a map of biomes, and topography gives a contour map of elevation changes. Transparency lets transparent blocks reveal what is below them. Plants and crops can be shown, and they can cast shadows on the map.[3]
Grass, foliage and water colors can be blended between biomes, and the tooltips say disabling the blending improves performance. Cave lighting uses the actual underground light levels, and turning it off uses full light. Clear caves renders unlit and inner slice blocks clear instead of black, but only for newly mapped blocks.[3]
Radar
The radar can show nearby passive mobs, hostile mobs, players, villagers and pets on the map. You set how far it searches in blocks, both laterally and vertically, and the maximum number of animals, mobs, players and villagers displayed. The tooltips warn that larger numbers may cause lag, and significant lag for the distances.[3]
The radar can also hide sneaking creatures and spectators. Separate cache durations in milliseconds control how often radar data for animals, mobs, players and villagers is rechecked, and the same goes for status data about you. Lower values can hurt performance.[3]
Web map and advanced options
The web map uses a port you can set between 80 and 10000. If that port is already in use, JourneyMap tries to find an open one in increments of 10.[3]
The advanced category carries a caution that changing some values can cause significant problems or crashes. Tile render type adjusts texture filtering and wrapping if map tiles become blurry: 1 is Linear+Mirrored, 2 is Linear+Clamped, 3 is Nearest+Mirrored and 4 is Nearest+Clamped. The AutoMap poll option sets the delay in milliseconds between AutoMap region tasks, where lower values speed up AutoMap but can hurt performance. There is also an experimental multi-world option that prevents map overwriting on multi-world servers, and it only takes effect after you rejoin the server.[3]
Unverified The tooltips above describe the mod's own options. This pack has no JourneyMap config files, so the values it actually uses for these options (distances, delays, radar limits, port) are unverified.

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as journeymap, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
