How does Construction Wand work?
8 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
The Construction Wand is a building tool, not a machine, so there is no power, fluid or multiblock side to it. What you get is a wand that extends the side of a build you are facing and places many blocks in one click. You can upgrade it with extra cores that change what it does. Here is how it all works in this pack.[1][2]
Wand tiers in this pack
There are four wands: the Stone Wand, Iron Wand, Diamond Wand and Infinity Wand. Higher tiers place more blocks and reach further. The pack's server config sets these values:[1][2][3]
- Stone Wand: places up to 9 blocks, durability 256. It can't be upgraded, and its angel and destruction values are 0.[2][3]
- Iron Wand: places up to 27 blocks, durability 1,024. Angel distance is 2 and destruction limit is 9. It can be upgraded.[3]
- Diamond Wand: places up to 128 blocks, durability 4,096. Angel distance is 8 and destruction limit is 25. It can be upgraded.[3]
- Infinity Wand: places up to 1,024 blocks, with angel distance 16 and destruction limit 81. It can be upgraded. The pack config has no durability entry for it, and the project page lists it as unbreakable.[2][3]
If you want to check or compare, the limits live in the iron_wand.limit style entries, one set per wand. In creative mode the Infinity Wand uses its own block limit of 2,048, set in misc.InfinityWandCreative.[3]
One more limit applies to every wand: misc.MaxRange is 100 here. The config describes it as a lag-prevention cap, not a balance setting.[3]
Wand cores
Every wand comes with the standard construction core, which extends your build on the side facing you. To install another core, put it together with your wand in a crafting grid. To switch cores, hold the wand option key and left click empty space with the wand, or use the option screen. The option key is CTRL by default and can be changed in the client config.[1][2]
Upgrading is controlled per wand by an upgradeable setting. stone_wand.upgradeable is false, so the Stone Wand can't be upgraded with a core. The other wands have it set to true, for example diamond_wand.upgradeable.[3]
Angel core
The Angel Wand Core places a block on the opposite side of the block (or row of blocks) you are facing. The maximum distance depends on the wand tier. You can also right click empty space to place a block in midair, as long as the block you want to place is in your offhand.[1]

The project page says you can't place midair blocks once you have fallen more than 10 blocks deep, so it is not an easy rescue from the void. The pack leaves misc.AngelFalling at false, so the extra feature of placing blocks below you while falling more than 10 blocks is off.[2][3]
Destruction core
The Destruction Wand Core destroys blocks on the side facing you, up to the wand's destruction limit. It does not destroy blocks with tile entities. Destroyed blocks vanish into the void, so use the undo feature if you slip.[1][2][3]
This recipe was changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default version of it:[4]

Placement options
Hold the option key and scroll to change the placement restriction: Horizontal, Vertical, North/South, East/West or No lock. The locked modes build a single row or column, while No lock extends from any side of the original block. The restriction has no effect with the angel core. Open the full option screen with Sneak+option key+Right click on empty space.[1][2]
- Direction: placed blocks either face the player or take the same direction as the target block.[1][2]
- Replacement: when on, the wand replaces fluids, snow and tallgrass.[1][2]
- Matching: Exact only extends blocks that are exactly the same. Similar treats related blocks (dirt and grass types) equally. Any extends whatever block is on the face you look at.[1][2]
- Random: when on, the wand places random blocks from your hotbar.[1][2]
What counts as similar is set by misc.SimilarBlocks. In this pack it covers dirt, grass block, coarse dirt, podzol, mycelium, farmland, dirt path and rooted dirt.[3]
Undo
Hold Sneak+option key while looking at a block to see your last placed blocks outlined in green. Sneak+option key+Right click on any of them undoes the operation and gives the items back. After a destruction core operation, undo restores the blocks. The pack keeps the last 3 operations, set by misc.UndoHistory.[1][2][3]
Where the blocks come from
Shulker boxes, bundles and many containers from other mods can supply building blocks to the wand. Blocks in your offhand take priority: the wand places those instead of the block you are looking at.[1][2]
Tile entity restrictions
Some modded tile entities can turn into ghost or unbreakable blocks when placed by a wand, so the mod has a list for them. In this pack tileentity.TEList contains only chiselsandbits, and tileentity.TEWhitelist is false. That makes it a blacklist, so Chisels & Bits blocks can't be placed by the wand.[2][3]
Which Construction Wand config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Most of what you'll want to tweak for Construction Wand lives in the server config, and this pack changed a few wand values from what the mod's project page lists. Durability and angel core distance are the two that differ. Block limits, destruction limits and upgrade rules match the page.[2][3]
Wand durability (changed by the pack)
- Stone wand: stone_wand.durability is 256 here, while the project page lists 131.[2][3]
- Iron wand: iron_wand.durability is 1,024 here, up from the 250 on the project page.[2][3]
- Diamond wand: diamond_wand.durability is 4,096 here, up from 1,561 on the project page.[2][3]
- The Infinity wand has no durability option in the pack's file. The project page lists it as unbreakable.[2][3]
Angel core distance (changed by the pack)
The angel core lets you place blocks in mid air, and the pack doubles the distance the project page lists for each upgradeable wand. iron_wand.angel is 2 (page: 1), diamond_wand.angel is 8 (page: 4) and infinity_wand.angel is 16 (page: 8). The stone wand's stone_wand.angel is 0, which disables the angel core.[2][3]
Block limits, destruction and upgrades
- Block limits per use are 9 for stone, 27 for iron, 128 for diamond and 1,024 for Infinity. These are set by stone_wand.limit, iron_wand.limit, diamond_wand.limit and infinity_wand.limit, and they match the project page.[2][3]
- Destruction core limits are 9 for iron, 25 for diamond and 81 for Infinity, matching the project page. Stone is 0, so it has no destruction core. See iron_wand.destruction, diamond_wand.destruction, infinity_wand.destruction and stone_wand.destruction.[2][3]
- stone_wand.upgradeable is false, so the stone wand can't take cores. Iron, diamond and Infinity have upgradeable set to true.[3]
- misc.InfinityWandCreative gives the Infinity wand a limit of 2,048 blocks in creative mode.[3]
Misc server options
- misc.UndoHistory is 3, so you can undo the last 3 operations.[3]
- misc.AngelFalling is false, so the angel core won't place blocks under you while you fall.[3]
- misc.SimilarBlocks makes Similar mode treat dirt, grass block, coarse dirt, podzol, mycelium, farmland, dirt path and rooted dirt as the same block.[3]
- tileentity.TEList contains chiselsandbits, and tileentity.TEWhitelist is false. So the list works as a blacklist and wands can't place those blocks.[3]
Client keybinds
In the client config, keys.OptKey is 341, which the file describes as the default Left Control. You hold this key to change cores and options or undo. keys.ShiftOpt is false, so changing wand mode or direction lock doesn't need the extra key. keys.ShiftOptGUI is true, so opening the wand GUI takes sneak plus the option key instead of sneak alone.[2][5]
