What is Bygone Nether?

Bygone Nether is a Nether structure mod. It adds new structures that are unique to each Nether biome, plus new mobs that live in them. The goal is to build up the lore of the Nether and give you extra challenges when you play survival.[1]
It also redesigns Nether fortresses and adds Bastion Remnants to the Basalt Deltas.[1]

The pack ships Bygone Nether 1.3.2, built for Minecraft 1.20.x. It has been in the pack since version 0.0.45.4 or earlier.[2]
The mod has no dependencies on other mods, only Forge.[1]
How do you get started with Bygone Nether?

Bygone Nether adds new structures to each Nether biome, plus the mobs that live in them. The first things you can craft with it are building blocks, so this section walks through the order I'd make them in. The structures themselves are what the mod's own advancements send you out to explore.[1][3]
Step one: Warped Nether Bricks
Start with Warped Nether Bricks. Everything else in the warped set is made from this block, so it's the one to get first. This is the in-pack recipe:[4]

How does Bygone Nether work?

Here's the honest picture, since you might be hunting for machines, power or multiblocks: Bygone Nether is a Nether structure mod. It adds structures unique to each Nether biome, plus the mobs that live in them. The sources I have don't describe any machines, power, fluid handling or automation for it. What they do document are its building-block recipes, so that's what this section covers.[1]
Warped Nether Bricks and their family
Warped Nether Bricks are crafted in a normal crafting grid. This is the recipe the pack uses:[4]

Vertical slabs
The mod has vertical slab variants of all three block families: Warped Nether Brick, Withered Blackstone and Cracked Withered Blackstone. The pack ships its own data files for them: loot tables, stonecutting recipes and a Quark vertical slab block tag, plus a Quark wraith_spawnable tag. In the sources, every one of those files is empty, so I can't tell you more about how the vertical slabs behave in this pack.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]
How do you progress through Bygone Nether?

Bygone Nether in this pack is a building-block mod, so its progression is a chain of block variants rather than a ladder of tiers. The blocks fall into a warped family built on Warped Nether Bricks and a withered family built on Withered Blackstone. Each family branches into slabs, stairs and a chiseled version, and the withered family also has a cracked step.[4]
Warped Nether Bricks path
Everything in this family starts with Warped Nether Bricks, which is crafted in a crafting grid. The recipe is below.[4]

The pack ships its own data files for the vertical slab versions of the warped nether brick, withered blackstone and cracked withered blackstone blocks: a loot table and a stonecutting recipe for each, plus Quark tag files for the mod.
