What is Advanced Loot Info (ALI)?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Advanced Loot Info (ALI) is an add-on for your recipe viewer. It shows detailed information about loot tables and villager trades, and it lays everything out in a clear way. If you've ever wondered what a chest, mob or block can drop, or what a villager will trade, this mod is built to answer that.[1]

ALI is not a standalone mod. It needs one of three supported recipe viewers: Just Enough Items (JEI), EMI or Roughly Enough Items (REI). It adds its information to the viewer you already use.[1]

This pack includes ALI 2.1.0, built for NeoForge 1.21.1.[2]

What it supports

  • LootJS is supported out of the box. That matters in a modpack, since LootJS is a common way to change loot.[1]
  • Other mods can add plugins that display custom loot entries, custom loot conditions and custom loot functions.[1]
  • Plugins can also work with custom number providers and create custom categories. Right now, custom categories can only come from the Gameplay loot category.[1]

Who it's for

It's for anyone who wants to look up drops and trades without guessing or digging through data files. Open your recipe viewer and look there for the loot and trade information.[1]

Unverified Which recipe viewer this pack uses, and where ALI fits in the pack's progression, are not confirmed by the sources I have. Nothing here shows quests or a progression step that involves ALI, so treat it as a lookup tool rather than something you need to unlock. This site does hold Project Infinity 0.1's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Advanced Loot Info (ALI)?

3 parts

Advanced Loot Info (ALI) is not a standalone mod. It is a plugin that needs one of three recipe viewers: Just Enough Items (JEI), EMI or Roughly Enough Items (REI). Your first step is to open your recipe viewer and look for the loot categories it adds.[1][3]

What it shows you

ALI displays advanced information about loot tables and villager trades inside the recipe viewer, laid out in a clear way. When you look at a loot entry, the screen text separates the conditions (labelled Predicates) from the functions (labelled Modifiers). Trade lists can also say "Randomly Selects %s Of These Trades", with the %s replaced by the number of trades picked.[1][4]

Loot categories in this pack

This pack's config sets up these categories in gameplayCategories, blockCategories, entityCategories and tradeCategories. The categories in these options have hide set to false, so none are hidden.[3]

Settings in this pack

In this pack, showInGameNames is set to true and logMoreStatistics is set to false. disabledEntities is empty, so no entities are disabled.[3]

Tip: If you want a category gone, the config options above carry a hide flag for each one. Edit them in config/ali/ali_common.json.[3]

How does Advanced Loot Info (ALI) work?

4 parts

Advanced Loot Info (ALI) is not a machine mod, so there is no power, fluid or item automation to set up. It is a plugin for your recipe viewer that shows detailed information about loot tables and villager trades. It is not standalone: it needs one of three supported viewers, which are Just Enough Items, EMI or Roughly Enough Items.[1]

What you actually work with is categories. Each category is a tab in the viewer that groups loot of one kind, and this pack defines them in its ALI config file.[1][3]

How categories work

Every category in the pack's config has a key, a hide flag, an icon and a type. In this pack none of them are hidden. The types used are BLOCK, ENTITY, GAMEPLAY and TRADE, set in blockCategories, entityCategories, gameplayCategories and tradeCategories.[3]

  • Block loot: a plant loot category uses the #minecraft:crops tag and a diamond hoe icon, and a general block loot category has an empty block list and a diamond pickaxe icon.[3]
  • Entity loot: one entity loot category with a skeleton skull icon and an empty entity type list.[3]
  • Trades: one trade category with an emerald block icon, using the pattern .* so it matches any trade.[3]

Gameplay loot categories

Gameplay categories match loot tables by a name pattern. Some also list catalysts, which are items attached to that category. This pack defines these gameplay categories:[3]

  • Chest loot: matches loot table names containing chests/, with a chest icon.[3]
  • Fishing loot: matches names starting with gameplay/fishing after the namespace, with Fishing Rod as its catalyst.[3]
  • Archaeology loot: matches archaeology/ tables, with Brush, Suspicious Sand and Suspicious Gravel as catalysts.[3]
  • Hero of the Village loot: matches gameplay/hero_of_the_village/ tables, with an emerald icon. It appears in EMI as Hero of the Village Loot.[3][4]
  • Cat morning gift: matches gameplay/cat_morning_gift, with Cat Spawn Egg as its catalyst.[3]
  • Piglin bartering: matches gameplay/piglin_bartering, with Piglin Spawn Egg and Gold Ingot as catalysts.[3]
  • Sniffer digging: matches gameplay/sniffer_digging, with Sniffer Spawn Egg as its catalyst.[3]
  • General gameplay loot: a compass-icon category using the pattern .*, which matches any name.[3]

What you see on the pages

When a trade page shows several possible trades, the text reads "Randomly Selects %s Of These Trades", where the number is filled in for you. Loot pages separate their details with labelled dividers: Predicates and Modifiers.[4]

Other settings

The same config file has a few more entries. showInGameNames is true in this pack, logMoreStatistics is false, disabledEntities is empty and configVersion is 2.[3]

Tip: The mod supports LootJS out of the box. It also supports plugins that add custom loot entries, conditions and functions, work with custom number providers, and create custom categories (right now only from the Gameplay loot category).[1]

Which Advanced Loot Info (ALI) config options matter?

3 parts

Everything for ALI lives in one file, config/ali/ali_common.json. Below is how the pack sets each option. The mod's own defaults aren't shown here, so I can't tell you which of these values the pack changed. Treat them as this pack's values.[3]

Simple toggles

Loot categories

The category options decide how loot is grouped in your recipe viewer. ALI is a plugin for JEI, EMI or REI, so that is where these groups show up. In this pack every category entry has hide set to false.[1][3]

Gameplay categories

gameplayCategories is the longest option. Each entry matches loot tables by a pattern, and some also list catalyst items. The pack sets these entries:[3]

What changed in Advanced Loot Info (ALI) between versions?

2 parts

Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 ships Advanced Loot Info 2.1.0. The mod was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.45.4 or earlier, so you've had it for a while. Here's what changed in the mod's own releases, newest first.[5]

2.1.0 (the version in this pack)

  • Advanced Core Info (ACI) became a required dependency. The changelog flags this as important.[6]
  • A new tooltipColors configuration lets you change the tooltip text, value, error and branch colors.[6]
  • Enum values shown in tooltips are now translatable.[6]
  • Loot entries can now be displayed inside a tooltip, for example on a Shulker Box.[6]
  • Fixed a crash on server start that happened in rare cases.[6]

Earlier releases

  • 1.12.0: network optimization on larger packs, with roughly 25% less data transferred. The client now requests data from the server instead of waiting for it, which fixed an occasional freeze when connecting to a server. Negative count values are now clamped.[7]
  • 1.9.1: fixed a sporadic crash when hovering over an item. The Block and Entity categories now filter by tags, blocks and entity types instead of classes.[8]
  • 1.9.1 (second changelog): fixed the latest feature not showing because of an old configuration file, and fixed fake loot tables not loading on Forge. Catalyst is now defined as a list of Ingredients.[9]
  • 1.8.3: improved the auto-detected tooltip.[10]
  • 1.7.3: fixed loot tree rendering in edge cases, and fixed a crash on older versions of Forge or NeoForge.[11]
  • 1.7.1: fixed missing Wandering Trader trade info, and decreased the packet size when syncing to avoid a timeout in some cases. The 1.20.1-1.6.0 changelog lists the same two fixes.[12][13]
Watch out: The 1.9.1 notes say the configuration file will reset. If you ever carry an old ALI config over from an older install, expect it to be reset.[9]

Unverified Pack changelog entries mentioning this mod are not available, so I can't say how Project Infinity's own releases changed it.

"From pack files" means the list came from the pack's own files; "from the published release" means ForgeBase read the jars of the release itself.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ali, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
