A quarry deletes Allthemodium ore and nothing drops

A Mekanism Digital Miner, or an empty hand, deletes Allthemodium ore and nothing drops. In All the Mods 10 8.2 the ore is gone.

The short answer

The ore disappears only when the break matches Allthemodium's delete rule. The other tools on this page refuse the block, and the ore stays in the ground.

  1. A Mekanism Digital Miner, or your empty hand, deletes it. The block is set to air and nothing drops. Go to What deletes the ore.

  2. Create's drill, FTB Ultimine and a Mining Gadget refuse it. Nothing is lost. Go to What refuses the ore.

  3. Vibranium and Unobtainium are not deleted, even by the Digital Miner. The break is refused and the block stays. Go to Vibranium and Unobtainium stay.

  4. The Modern Industrialization quarry is a recipe. It never breaks a block, so this rule does not apply, and it is the pack's route that yields the ore. Go to The quarry that yields the ore.

  5. Mine it with a netherite or better pick. The pack tooltip says "Needs at least Netherite to be mined". A weaker pick is a different problem, and this page does not explain it.

None of this was tested in a world. That is the one limit left. The delete starts at Allthemodium 2.7.7, and the jars that were read are in Older jars.

Written for Allthemodium 3.0.1. This pack ships Allthemodium 2.5.7. Some steps may no longer match.

On this page

Applies to Allthemodium 3.0.1, Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.251, as shipped in All the Mods 10 8.2. The rule belongs to Allthemodium. The quarry mods do not write it. Where the ore generates is a different page, and this one does not say.

What deletes the ore

In Allthemodium 3.0.1, as shipped in All the Mods 10 8.2, the handler is events/BlockBreak.java. It watches a break of the tag c:ores/allthemodium, which is allthemodium:allthemodium_ore and allthemodium:allthemodium_slate_ore. Both blocks are deleted. The handler fires when the player on the event is a fake player, or is missing, or is a real player whose main hand is empty.

The Mekanism Digital Miner in Mekanism 10.7.19.85, the version All the Mods 10 8.2 ships, posts that break with a fake player before it mines (TileEntityDigitalMiner.canMine). Allthemodium answers by deleting the block in the same call. The miner never receives a drop.

An empty hand is the same rule on a real player. The break is slow, because the ore's hardness is -1, and when it finishes the block is set to air. Nothing drops.

Sources: Allthemodium 3.0.1 events/BlockBreak.java and data/c/tags/block/ores/allthemodium.json, confirmed in the shipped jar's com/thevortex/allthemodium/events/BlockBreak.class. The miner is Mekanism 10.7.19.85 TileEntityDigitalMiner.canMine.

What refuses the ore

Create's mechanical drill, and anything that uses Create's block-breaking kinetic base, treats a hardness of -1 as not breakable. The ore's hardness is -1, the same value vanilla uses for a block that does not break. That read is Create's mc1.21.1/dev branch, not a pin to the jar All the Mods 10 8.2 ships.

FTB Ultimine, in survival, skips a block whose destroy speed is negative. This ore's is negative, so the vein mine does not take it. The check does not apply in creative. That read is FTB Ultimine's main branch as of 22 September 2026, not a pin to the jar this pack ships.

Mining Gadgets 1.18.8 is the jar All the Mods 10 8.2 ships. The gadget never selects a block whose destroy speed is below 0, and this ore's hardness is -1, so the beam does not mine it. A second check, which does not get that far, would break as the real player who is holding the gadget. That is not a fake player and not an empty hand, so the delete rule would not fire there either.

The hardness is Allthemodium 3.0.1 blocks/Allthemodium_Ore.java, strength(-1.0f, 1500.0f).

Vibranium and Unobtainium stay

The same method handles Vibranium, Other Vibranium and Unobtainium, and it only cancels the break. It does not set the block to air. Allthemodium ore is the only one deleted.

A Digital Miner pointed at those ores is refused, the block stays in the ground, and nothing is destroyed. An empty hand on them is the same: the break fails and the block stays. You may see the block flicker and come back, because a canceled break is sent to the client again.

Sources: Allthemodium 3.0.1 events/BlockBreak.java, the Vibranium and Unobtainium branches beside the Allthemodium one. The miner is the same Mekanism 10.7.19.85 canMine call.

The quarry that yields the ore

The Modern Industrialization quarry does not break a block. All the Mods 10 8.2 ships a recipe, kubejs/data/modern_industrialization/recipe/quarry/allthemodium.json, that needs kubejs:allthemodium_drill and yields the ore. None of the break rules on this page apply to it. It is the pack's route that gives you the ore without mining the block.

Older jars

The delete starts at Allthemodium 2.7.7. This split was read from the shipped jars.

2.7.0, 2.7.1, 2.7.3, 2.7.5 and 2.7.6 only cancel the break. The block stays. 2.6.03 and 2.6.9 have no setBlock in that class either.

2.7.7, 2.7.9, 2.8.0, 2.8.1, 2.9.3 and 3.0.1 set the block to air.

All the Mods 10 0.34 (jar 2.6.03), 0.57 (jar 2.6.9) and 0.59 (jar 2.7.0) leave the ore. All the Mods 10 4.5 (jar 2.9.3) and 8.1 (jar 3.0.1) void it. All the Mons 1.3.0 is that same 3.0.1 jar.

Before 2.7.7 a Digital Miner still does not mine the ore. Nothing is destroyed, and nothing is gained. The block staying is not the miner collecting it.

The Stop above is this version only: All the Mods 10 8.2, Allthemodium 3.0.1.
