Allthemodium: farming Piglich Hearts
The short answer
One pack decision explains almost every failure. All the Mods 10 tags the Piglich as a boss in its own scripts, and the pack writes that tag directly into twelve blacklists, across nine other mods. So the Mob Duplicator, the Mob Swab, the Soul Vial, the Powered Spawner and several others refuse it. They are not broken and you have not set them up wrong.
Two different things are happening under that, and the difference matters. The pack's own lines are what close the Mob Duplicator, the Mob Swab and Occultism's Shattered Soul Shard. The Soul Vial, the Powered Spawner and Occultism's soul gems would refuse it even without the pack's line: those mods already blacklist anything tagged a boss by their own default, so the pack's contribution there is putting the Piglich into the boss tag at all.
Most of them tell you nothing. The Soul Vial says "This entity has been blacklisted." and the Powered Spawner says "Disabled by config" — which is misleading, because nothing in a config file did this. A tag did, and the file that sets the tag is one of the pack's own scripts. The Mob Swab and the Mob Duplicator say nothing at all, which is why so many people have gone looking for a mistake that was never there.
Three things work:
Drygmys. A Drygmy takes hearts off a jarred Piglich without killing it — 4 hearts a production cycle of at least 3½ minutes — and this is the only route that needs no kills at all. Nothing in this pack's tags blocks it, though the reports from older packs disagree: see Drygmys take the heart without killing it.
Killing it with machines. The Piglich's loot table has no "killed by a player" condition, so a machine kill drops the heart. A Mob Crusher is on the blacklist, but that only turns off its instant kill, so it falls back to hitting the Piglich and still works — about two to four minutes a Piglich. See Kill it with machines.
Hostile Neural Networks, which turns kills into hearts in bulk but has to be trained by hand first: every kill that feeds the model is one you land yourself. See Hostile Neural Networks.
One kill gives one heart, always. The loot table is one pool, one roll, one heart, with no looting function. Looting does nothing.
And the number you are probably here for: the crafted route to an ATM Star costs 549 hearts. That is a route's cost and not what a Star requires. The pack also ships a Dragon Forge route to the same alloy blocks that costs no hearts at all, which puts the floor at 9. See How many hearts a Star costs.
Where the rest of this page goes. What works sets out those three routes in full, with the rates and what each one costs you. The 4999 health report answers the one claim that there are two kinds of Piglich — there is one. Methods only reported in other packs marks what is evidenced somewhere other than here, because most of the write-ups are. And Unresolved is what we could not work out, including why three players' Drygmy farms failed when the files say they should not have.

How many hearts a Star costs: 549 on the crafted route
549 is what one route costs, not what a Star requires. It is the route almost everyone takes, and it is the number worth planning around, so it is the one this page traces. The heart-free alternative is the third bullet below.
Traced through this pack's own recipe scripts:
| Step | Hearts |
|---|---|
| 28 Unobtainium-Allthemodium alloy blocks, each 18 hearts | 504 |
| 2 awakened Unobtainium-Vibranium alloy blocks, each 18 | 36 |
| 1 Dragon Soul, which takes a block of hearts | 9 |
| Total for the first ATM Star on this route | 549 |
Each alloy ingot takes two hearts, not one. That is the step everyone gets wrong. The heart is listed twice in the recipe, at two separate lines of
kubejs/server_scripts/modpack/atm_alloys.js.252 is the ingot count, not the heart count, and that is the figure circulating on older threads. 28 blocks is 252 ingots; in this pack each ingot is two hearts.
There is a heart-free route to both alloy blocks, and this pack adds it itself. The Star consumes alloy blocks, and All the Mods 10 8.2 ships two Ice and Fire Dragon Forge recipes in its own datapack that make those blocks out of molten metal buckets with no hearts in them:
kubejs/data/iceandfire/recipe/dragonforge/allthemodium-unobtainium.json, on an ice Dragon Forge, gives the block the Star takes 28 of, andvibranium-unobtainium.json, on a lightning one, gives the block each of the 2 awakened blocks is made from. Nothing in the pack removes or overrides them, and the molten metals do not need Tinkers' Construct: Productive Metalworks 1.15.1 melts the ingots into those fluids. So a player who can fire both forges pays 9 hearts for a Star, the Dragon Soul's block, and nothing else on this page changes. What that route costs in everything other than hearts, this page does not say: see Unresolved. The Tinkers' recipe is about the ingot. The only other recipe for the alloy ingot is a Tinkers' Construct casting recipe, and Tinkers' is not in this pack, so that one is disabled. That is why the ingot looks heart-locked when the block is not.
The shard route is not a shortcut. A Star can be made from shards, but shards come only from crushing a Star. That route is for a player who already has one.
Killed one at a time, 549 hearts is 549 Piglichs. That is what the crafted route costs, and it is the reason this page exists.
Why the usual farms refuse it
In kubejs/server_scripts/Tweaks/tags.js, the pack adds allthemodium:piglich to c:bosses, folds #c:bosses into its own allthemods:jank_blacklist, and names that list in twelve blacklists across nine other mods — Ender IO, Industrial Foregoing and Mob Grinding Utils each have two of the twelve. A thirteenth blacklist, in a tenth mod, picks the same list up by inheriting one of the twelve rather than by being named, so a count of everything the list reaches is thirteen across ten mods. Every count on this page is the twelve the pack names directly, and it says so wherever it uses one. That is a fact about the pack's files. It is not a claim about why any particular player thinks their farm failed.
Three of the refusals would happen without this pack. Ender IO's Soul Vial and Powered Spawner, and Occultism's soul gems, already blacklist the boss tag in their own default files — they would refuse any boss in any pack, and the pack's own line on the first two is redundant. What this pack added is the Piglich's place in that tag. The pack's own lines are what close the Mob Swab, the Mob Duplicator, the Shattered Soul Shard and the rest.
| What you tried | What happens | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Mob Duplicator | Blacklisted by the pack's line. The machine asks for the entity, gets nothing back, and stops before it does anything else | Nothing. No message, no status |
| Mob Swab | Blacklisted by the pack's line. No used swab is made, so there is no spawn egg to make | Nothing. The mod has no refusal message |
| Soul Vial | Blacklisted twice: by this pack, and by Ender IO's own default list, which already covers bosses | "This entity has been blacklisted." |
| Powered Spawner, and the Broken Spawner route into it | Blacklisted, again by both | "Disabled by config" — misleading, because it is a tag and not a config file that did it |
| Occultism Soul Gem and Fragile Soul Gem | Blacklisted by Occultism's own two default deny lists, one per item, and both carry the boss tag; not by this pack | "Soul gems cannot contain this type of being.", and for the fragile one "Fragile soul gems cannot contain this type of being." |
| Occultism Shattered Soul Shard (the Fracture Soul drop) | Blacklisted by the pack's line | Nothing. No message on that path |
| The RFTools Utility spawner | Not blacklisted at all. The mod ships 70 spawner recipes, every one for a vanilla mob, and the pack adds none — so there is no recipe that could spawn a Piglich | Nothing in game. Two errors go to the log, not to chat |
| Mob Crusher | On the list, but the list only disables its instant kill. It falls back to hitting the Piglich, and that works | It works — see Kill it with machines |
| Mob mashers in a kill chamber | Not on any of the twelve the pack names, nor on the thirteenth | Works |
| Drygmys | Not on any of the twelve the pack names, nor on the thirteenth, and nothing else in Ars Nouveau blocks a Piglich either | Works — see Drygmys take the heart without killing it |
The Mob Duplicator's health ceiling is real, and it is not what stops you. The machine holds 8,000 mB of Essence and needs 12 per point of health, so it can spawn a mob of about 667 health. A Piglich has 9,999. Both numbers are this pack's. But the blacklist check happens before that arithmetic, so the Duplicator would still refuse a Piglich with 10 health. Enlarging the tank changes nothing.
Capture works. Only duplication does nothing. A Mob Imprisonment Tool will pick a Piglich up, and right-clicking a block puts it back. If you have one in a tool, it is not lost.
On an older pack, half of this is not true. The Piglich went into the boss tag in pack 3.0 (20 May 2025), and the allthemods:jank_blacklist scheme that closes the Mob Swab arrived in pack 4.1 (24 June 2025). Before 3.0 the pack blocked the Piglich by name in two places, the Mob Duplicator's list and Just Dire Things' paradox list, and from 2.47 in the Mob Crusher's list as well. So anything on this page about the Soul Vial or the soul gems is false before pack 3.0, and anything about the Mob Swab is false before pack 4.1 — which is why a player on 2.47 could still make a used Mob Swab. Their farm failed at the next step anyway, because the Mob Duplicator was already blocked by name. This page is about 8.2.
What works
Drygmys take the heart without killing it
Nothing blocks this. The only list a Drygmy consults holds one entry, minecraft:iron_golem, and this pack adds nothing to it. The jar you catch the Piglich in has its own refusal list, and that one does not mention the boss tag either, and has no health check. A Drygmy rolls the mob's own loot table with no kill involved, and the Piglich's loot table is one heart with no conditions, so every roll is a heart.
One jarred Piglich gives 4 hearts a production cycle. Five jarred Piglichs — still one kind of mob — give 8, because the bonus counts kinds and bodies separately and caps at five bodies.
A cycle is at least about 200 seconds, and longer in practice: the Drygmy has to walk, and walking time has no ceiling. So about 4 hearts every 3½ minutes per Drygmy is a floor, not a measurement. It is computed from the pack's config and the mod's code — every value in that config equals Ars Nouveau's own default, so the pack changes nothing here — and nobody has timed it in game.
Nothing dies, so nothing here trains a Hostile Neural Networks model.
Kill it with machines
The Piglich's loot table has no "killed by a player" condition, so a kill by a machine drops the heart. Players report kill chambers working, and the code agrees with them.
Mob Crushers work, because the blacklist only removes their instant kill.
Mob mashers are on none of the twelve lists the pack names, nor on the thirteenth that inherits them.
A Mob Crusher takes between about two and four minutes a Piglich. It lands 45.73 damage a hit and needs 219 hits, and it hits once every 10 ticks — half a second. If every hit lands that is 1 minute 50 seconds; if the game's damage cooldown eats every second hit it is 3 minutes 39 seconds. Power is not the constraint either way: about 11,000 FE a kill.
Do not compute that damage yourself from the machine's config. The number in Industrial Foregoing's config is 75 a hit, and the Piglich has 24 armour, but this pack ships Apothic Attributes, which replaces the game's armour formula outright. Under that formula 75 becomes 45.73; under the vanilla one it would be 31.13 and the kill would take 322 hits. The Piglich's 24 armour toughness does not enter it at all, because the replacement formula ignores toughness.
A Mob Crusher gives you the heart but no Hostile Neural Networks data, because the kill is credited to Industrial Foregoing's own fake player and not to you.
The one fully written-up kill chamber in the reports is from All the Mons, a different pack: the pyramid floor replaced with conveyors feeding mashers in the middle, with the player waiting about 100 blocks above. The pack differs, so take the shape of it rather than the details.
Hostile Neural Networks, and the 98 kills that have to be yours
This pack ships a Piglich data model and does not override it. The Loot Fabricator gives 4 hearts per prediction, so the crafted route's 549 hearts is 138 predictions.
Two numbers decide whether it works for you:
6 kills to leave Faulty. A Faulty model cannot be simulated at all. Attune a model, put it straight into a Simulation Chamber, and it will sit there doing nothing. That alone explains a lot of "HNN doesn't work".
98 kills to reach Self-Aware, where every simulation yields a prediction. That is the number that ends the grind — but all 98 have to be yours, which is the next paragraph.
| Tier | Data needed | Data per kill | Can simulate? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Faulty | 0 | 1 | No |
| Basic | 6 | 4 | Yes |
| Advanced | 54 | 10 | Yes |
| Superior | 354 | 18 | Yes |
| Self-Aware | 1254 | 0 | Yes |
The kill has to be yours — every one of them. The model only gains data when the player who lands the killing blow is carrying it inside a Deep Learner. A loose Data Model in your hotbar gains nothing, and a kill by a machine, a summon or another mob gains nothing. So every kill that feeds the model is one you land yourself — the six that leave Faulty, and all 98 if you want Self-Aware. Machines can farm hearts; they cannot train the model. A Mob Crusher's kill is credited to Industrial Foregoing's fake player, and a Drygmy never kills anything at all.
The 4999 health report
One player reported that only Piglichs showing 4999 health counted towards their Deep Learner, and concluded there were two kinds. There is one.
The mod registers exactly one piglich entity, with one class and one name.
Every jar we read, back to 2.3.1 in September 2023, carries 9999 and none carries 4999.
Nothing in the pack's scripts touches the Piglich's attributes.
Methods only reported in other packs
Only 11 of the 38 posts behind this page are stamped to All the Mods 10. Where a method is evidenced somewhere else, it is named that way:
The Soul Vial, Broken Spawner and Powered Spawner chain is an All the Mods 9 write-up. In this pack that whole chain is blacklisted at the first step.
Drygmy farms were reported only from All the Mods 7, 8 and 9, never from this pack. What is written above about them is read from this pack's own files rather than from those reports — see Drygmys take the heart without killing it, including what the reports do and don't agree on.
The conveyor kill chamber is All the Mons.
Unresolved
Named so that nothing above reads as more certain than it is. Back to the short answer.
Why the Drygmy failures happened. Beacon counts three of them. Nothing in this pack's tags blocks the route, and the reports are all from older packs, so we have no mechanism to offer for any of them except the one that was a despawning Piglich.
Whether any mod closes the jar route in code rather than by tag. Nothing in the pack's 464 jars adds to the tags that gate it; nobody has scanned those jars for a mixin or an event that gates capture another way, so that vector is unread. What is also not settled is the code behind the check itself: it was read from a branch of Ars Nouveau rather than from a tagged 5.13.1, and the shipped class file confirms the tag names and the method name, not the order. The tags themselves were read from the shipped jars.
What the Dragon Forge route costs in anything other than hearts. The recipes are in the pack's own files and they take no hearts, which is what makes 9 the floor. But a Dragon Forge is a multiblock fired by a dragon's flame of the matching type, an ice dragon for the Star's 28 blocks and a lightning dragon for the 2, and how hard that is to reach in play cannot be settled from files. This page does not price it, so 9 is what the recipes require and not a route this page puts ahead of the crafted one. One smaller thing on the same route is unread: that the molten metal bucket named in the recipe is the bucket of the fluid Productive Metalworks makes was taken from the item's name, not from code.
Exactly how long a Mob Crusher takes, inside the two-to-four-minute range above.
Where the 4999 report came from, beyond that it is not in the mod.
Nothing here was tested in game. It is read from the pack's own files, the mods' jars and what players wrote. The Drygmy rate in particular is a floor computed from config and code, not a measurement.
