What is Transfer Labels?

3 parts

Transfer Labels lets you move items and fluids between blocks that sit right next to each other. Instead of building pipes or cables, you put a label on a block and the label does the transferring.[1]

This pack includes version 0.1.8 of the mod.[2]

The basics

  • Place a label on a block by sneak right-clicking the block.[1]
  • Open a placed label by holding a label and right-clicking it.[1]
  • Remove a placed label by left-clicking it while holding a label.[1]
  • You can reach labels through blocks by using the label accessor.[1]

Filtering and speed

The label GUI has filter types: regulating, exact count, mod and tag. For the filters that have an amount, scroll while holding Shift, Alt, Ctrl or any combination of those keys to change how much.[1]

You can also speed a label up. Add the same item label in the amount or speed slots to accelerate it.[1]

Quest book placement

Unverified The sources here do not show where the pack's quest book places this mod, which chapter or group it sits in, what comes before or after it, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the quest book in game for that.

How do you get started with Transfer Labels?

5 parts

Transfer Labels lets you move items and fluids between blocks that sit right next to each other. You place a label on a block and it handles the transfer. Here is what to make first, and why.[1]

What to craft, in order

  1. Start with the item labels: Itemstack Extract Transfer Label and Itemstack Insert Transfer Label. They move items between neighbouring blocks, and the pack changed both recipes from the mod's own.[1][3]
  2. Next, make the fluid labels if you work with fluids: Fluidstack Extract Transfer Label and Fluidstack Insert Transfer Label. The pack changed these recipes as well.[1][3]
  3. Finally, craft the Label Accessor. Its recipe uses the item and fluid labels you just made, and the pack changed it too. It lets you reach labels through blocks.[1][3]

Tip: Made the wrong label type? Each Extract label can be turned into its Insert counterpart with a shapeless recipe, and the reverse works too. These swap recipes are the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[3]

This shapeless recipe turns a Fluidstack Insert label into an Extract label.

Placing and using labels

  • Sneak and right-click a block to place a label on it.[1]
  • Hold a label and right-click a placed label to open its GUI.[1]
  • Hold a label and left-click a placed label to remove it.[1]

In the label GUI you can set a filter. The types are regulating, exact count, mod and tag. Regulating keeps the defined filter amount on the destination, and exact count only transfers when the count matches the filter. The mod and tag filters match on the filter's mod id or tag. For filters that have an amount, scroll while holding Shift, Alt, Ctrl or any combination of them to change it.[1][4]

Once your setup works, you can speed labels up by putting the same item label in the amount or speed slots.[1]

How does Transfer Labels work?

4 parts

Transfer Labels moves items and fluids between blocks that sit right next to each other. You put a label on a block and it does the transferring.[1]

Placing and handling labels

  • Place a label on a block by sneak right-clicking the block.[1]
  • Interact with a placed label by holding a label and right-clicking the placed label. This is how you open the label's interface.[1]
  • Remove a placed label by left-clicking it while holding a label.[1]

If the block you want to reach is behind another block, the Label Accessor lets you access labels through blocks.[1][3]

The label types

There are four labels: Itemstack Extract Transfer Label, Itemstack Insert Transfer Label, Fluidstack Extract Transfer Label and Fluidstack Insert Transfer Label. The names show the split: the itemstack pair is for items and the fluidstack pair is for fluids.[3][5]

The pack changed the main crafting recipes for all four labels and for the Label Accessor. The conversion recipes between extract and insert are the mod's own. Here is how you craft each one in this pack, followed by the conversion recipes that swap a label for its extract or insert counterpart:[3][5]

Filtering

When you open the label interface you can pick a filter type. These are the types the mod describes:[1][4]

  • Normal: transfers only if the thing is the same as the filter.[4]
  • Exact count: transfers only if it has the same count as the defined filter.[4]
  • Mod: transfers only if it has the same mod id as the defined filter.[4]
  • Tag: transfers only if it has the same tag as the one defined in the filter.[4]
  • Regulating: transfers to keep the defined filter amount on the destination.[4]

For filters that have an amount, scroll while holding Shift, Alt, Ctrl, or any combination of those keys to change how much. In this pack Config.filterSlots is 20, which is also the mod default and the highest value the option allows.[1][5]

Transfer amount and upgrades

A label's base transfer is set by Config.baseItemTransferAmount, which is 1 in this pack. That is the amount moved before amount upgrades apply. Fluid labels scale from that number: Config.fluidTransferMultiplier is 100, meaning 100 millibuckets per item transfer amount. Both match the mod defaults.[5]

You accelerate labels by adding the same item label in the amount or speed slots. The pack allows up to 63 amount upgrades through Config.amountUpgrades and up to 38 speed upgrades through Config.speedUpgrades. Both are the mod defaults and also the highest values those options allow.[1][5]

How do you progress through Transfer Labels?

5 parts

Transfer Labels doesn't have tiers in the usual modded sense. The sources here don't show any tier system, upgrade chain or power levels. What the pack does give you is a short crafting path: the item labels and fluid labels first, then the Label Accessor at the end. The pack changed all of these crafting recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3]

Item labels

The item side of the mod has the Itemstack Extract Transfer Label and the Itemstack Insert Transfer Label. Both use a shaped recipe that the pack changed. The recipe blocks below show exactly what goes in.[3]

Fluid labels

Switching between insert and extract

If you crafted the wrong direction, you don't have to start over. Each extract label can be turned into its matching insert label with a shapeless recipe, and the reverse works too, for both item labels and fluid labels. These are the mod's own recipes, and the pack didn't change them.[3]

The Label Accessor

The end of the path is the Label Accessor. Its shaped recipe was changed by the pack, and it is built from the item and fluid labels above, so craft those first.[3]

Quests and progression gating

Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter covering Transfer Labels, so nothing in the quest book is confirmed to unlock or guide you through these items. They also don't show an in-mod guidebook, so what each item does in practice is not covered here.

Which Transfer Labels config options matter?

3 parts

All of the Transfer Labels options live in config/transfer_labels/transfer_labels.toml. The good news: this pack leaves every one of them at the mod default, so nothing here has been changed from what you would get with the mod on its own.[5]

Upgrade limits

  • Config.amountUpgrades is 63. It sets how many amount upgrades a transfer label can accept, and it can be set anywhere from 0 to 63.[5]
  • Config.speedUpgrades is 38. It sets how many speed upgrades a transfer label can accept, with a range of 0 to 38.[5]

Both of these are already at the top of their allowed range, so you can only lower them, not raise them. As the mod describes it, you accelerate a label by adding the same item label in its amount or speed slots.[1][5]

Transfer amounts

Filter slots

Config.filterSlots is 20, which is the number of filter slots transfer labels have. Its range is 1 to 20, so like the upgrade limits it already sits at the maximum.[5]

What changed in Transfer Labels between versions?

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with Transfer Labels 0.1.8. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.1.1 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition.[2]

Unverified The details of the 0.1.7 and 0.1.8 changelogs weren't available when this guide was written, and there are no pack changelog entries for this mod. What changed between those versions, and whether the pack altered anything about the mod, is unverified.
