What is Stone Chest?
2 parts
Stone Chest adds stone-themed variants of the vanilla chest. The idea is simple: you need a chest, but you have no wood on you. This mod gives you chests made from stone-type materials instead.[1]
The pack includes Stone Chest 1.0.0, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0.0 or earlier.[2]
Which chests you get
The range is wide. You get stone and cobblestone chests (including mossy and smooth versions), plus several stone brick variants, including cracked, mossy and chiseled ones.[1]
There are also chests for andesite, diorite and granite, and for their polished forms. Deepslate gets the biggest set, with cobbled, polished, brick, tile, cracked and chiseled versions.[1]
The list goes on with calcite, dripstone, tuff (including tuff bricks and the chiseled forms), basalt (smooth and polished), blackstone (polished, bricks, cracked and chiseled), and prismarine, prismarine bricks and dark prismarine.[1]
Who it is for
It suits anyone who wants a chest made from whichever stone they have on hand, or who likes a storage setup that matches a stone-based build. It is a convenience and decoration mod, not a progression mod.[1]
Unverified The sources do not show the in-pack crafting recipes, the storage size of these chests, or any place for the mod in the pack's progression. Check the items in-game before you plan a build around them.
How do you get started with Stone Chest?
4 parts
Stone Chest gives you chests made from stone-type blocks instead of wood. The mod's own pitch is the moment you need a chest and have no wood on you. In this pack, getting your first one is a short crafting chain.[1]
The crafting chain
Every Stone Chest in this pack is built in stages. First you craft a part from the matching stone block, then you craft the chest from that part. Both are shaped crafting recipes, so lay them out on the crafting grid exactly as the recipe blocks below show.[3]
- Pick a stone block you have spare. Each chest type has its own matching part, for example Cobblestone Part for cobblestone or Stone Part for stone.[3]
- Craft that block into its part. This turns the raw block into the item the chest recipe accepts.[3]
- Craft the part into the finished chest, such as Cobblestone Chest or Stone Chest.[3]
Example: a Cobblestone Chest
Cobblestone is a simple place to start. Here are both recipes, in order.[3]

Example: a Stone Chest
The same pattern works for plain stone. Craft the part from stone first, then the chest.[3]

Picking a variant
You are not limited to cobblestone and stone. This pack has chest and part recipes for andesite, diorite, granite, tuff, calcite, dripstone, deepslate, cobbled deepslate, deepslate bricks, mossy cobblestone, mossy stone bricks, smooth stone, stone bricks, prismarine, prismarine bricks and dark prismarine. Pick whichever block you have spare, or whichever suits your base. For example, there is Deepslate Chest and Prismarine Bricks Chest.[3]
How does Stone Chest work?
2 parts
Stone Chest is a simple storage mod. It adds vanilla-style chests made from stone-type blocks, so you can get a chest even when you have no wood on you.[1]
How you get a chest
In this pack you never craft a chest straight from the block. You turn the matching stone block into a part, then turn that part into the finished chest. The recipe dump lists all of these as the mod's own recipes.[3]
Take the plain stone version. You craft a Stone Part from stone, then use it to make the Stone Chest.[3]

This turns the part into the finished chest.
Every other variant follows the same pattern. The Cobblestone Chest comes from the Cobblestone Part, and the Deepslate Bricks Chest comes from the Deepslate Bricks Part. Each chest uses the part of its own material.[3]
Variants with recipes in the pack
The recipe dump has a part recipe and a chest recipe for each of these materials:[3]
- Stone family: Stone Chest, Smooth Stone Chest, Stone Bricks Chest, Mossy Stone Bricks Chest, Cobblestone Chest and Mossy Cobblestone Chest.[3]
- Deepslate family: Deepslate Chest, Cobbled Deepslate Chest and Deepslate Bricks Chest.[3]
- Granite, diorite and andesite: Granite Chest, Diorite Chest and Andesite Chest.[3]
- Prismarine family: Prismarine Chest, Prismarine Bricks Chest and Dark Prismarine Chest.[3]
- Cave stones: Tuff Chest, Calcite Chest and Dripstone Chest.[3]
How do you progress through Stone Chest?
2 parts
Stone Chest has no tiers in the sense of a ladder you climb. The pack's recipes show a set of stone-themed chests, and each one is made in the same way: you craft a part first, then turn that part into the finished chest.[3]
Unverified The sources here show no quest tied to Stone Chest, so the quest book does not appear to give this mod a progression path. Check the quest book in game if you want to be sure.
How each variant is crafted
Every variant follows the same pattern. Each stone type has a part recipe and a chest recipe, and both are shaped crafting recipes added by the mod. Here is the plain stone version, and the other variants work the same way.[3]

What changed in Stone Chest between versions?
There isn't much history to cover for Stone Chest. FTB StoneBlock 4 1.8.1 includes Stone Chest 1.0.0, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier.[2]
The mod's own changelog for 1.0.0 is a single line: a NeoForge port for 1.21.1 to 1.21.2. The jar in the pack is built for 1.21.1.[2][4]
