What is Status Effect Bars Reforged?
2 parts
Status Effect Bars Reforged is a client-side mod that adds small customizable bars to the status effects overlay and to the inventory. Each bar shows how much time is left on an effect, so you can see at a glance when something is about to run out.[1]
What you get
- Small bars that show the remaining duration of effects, both in the overlay and in the inventory.[1]
- A config screen where you can edit the bar colors and positions.[1]
- Automatic hiding in some specific cases to reduce clutter, for example beacon effects and effects with very long durations.[1]
- Compatibility with Stylish Effects, included since v1.0.2.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Status Effect Bars Reforged 1.0.2, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]
How do you get started with Status Effect Bars Reforged?
3 parts
Good news: Status Effect Bars Reforged is a client-side mod that adds small customizable bars to the status effects overlay and to the inventory. The bars show how much time is left on each effect. You don't have to gather anything or build anything to get started.[1]
What you'll see right away
- Small bars appear under your active effects in the on-screen overlay, so you can see at a glance when a potion or other effect is about to run out.[1]
- The same bars show up in the inventory screen's effect list.[1]
- To cut down on clutter, the mod can hide bars automatically in some specific cases, such as beacon effects and effects with very long durations.[1]
First step: make it look the way you like
The mod has a config screen where you can edit the bar colors and bar positions. If the default look doesn't suit your HUD layout or your other overlays, that's the first thing to change.[1]
Other things to know
Since v1.0.2, the mod includes compatibility with Stylish Effects. Whether that mod is part of this pack is unverified, so don't count on it.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any in-pack recipes, quests or in-game item descriptions for this mod, so there is no crafting order to follow. I also couldn't confirm where to open the config screen from in this pack. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Status Effect Bars Reforged work?
5 parts
Status Effect Bars Reforged is a client-side mod that adds small customizable bars to the status effects overlay and to the inventory, showing the remaining duration of your effects. So the mechanics here are about what the bars show and how you tune them. Everything you can change lives in one config file.[1]
Where the bars show up
The bars can appear on the HUD and in the inventory, and each place has its own on/off switch. layout.hud.enabled controls the bars on the in-game HUD, and layout.inventory.enabled controls the bars in the inventory. The pack has both set to true.[1][3]
When bars are hidden
The mod can hide bars automatically to cut clutter, for example for beacon effects and for effects with very long durations. These settings control it.[1]
- behavior.maxRemainingDuration hides a bar when the remaining duration in ticks is above the value. The pack uses 2,147,483,647 (the maximum int), the same as the mod default, so bars are never hidden based on duration.[3]
- behavior.minAmbientAge hides the bar of ambient effects, such as beacon effects, while the effect is younger than the value in ticks. The pack uses 90 ticks, the same as the mod default.[3]
Bar colors
color.colorMode picks how bars are colored. EFFECT_COLOR uses the color of the status effect, CATEGORY_COLOR uses colors based on whether the effect is beneficial, harmful or neutral, and CUSTOM uses the custom colors from the config. The pack uses EFFECT_COLOR.[3]
The custom colors are color.beneficialForegroundColor, color.harmfulForegroundColor and color.neutralForegroundColor, plus color.backgroundColor for the bar background. They are all in ARGB format. In the pack, the foreground colors are all -2130706433 and the background is -2147483648, which are the mod defaults.[3]
Bar layout
The HUD and the inventory each have their own layout options, so you can set them differently. The same keys exist under both layout.hud and layout.inventory.[3]
- Direction: layout.hud.position.direction and layout.inventory.position.direction accept LEFT_TO_RIGHT, RIGHT_TO_LEFT, BOTTOM_TO_TOP or TOP_TO_BOTTOM. The pack uses LEFT_TO_RIGHT for both.[3]
- Anchor: layout.hud.position.relativeToEnd and layout.inventory.position.relativeToEnd decide whether the bar is placed relative to the end (bottom/right) or the start (top/left) of the effect rectangle. Both are true in the pack.[3]
- Thickness: layout.hud.shape.thickness and layout.inventory.shape.thickness set the bar thickness in pixels, from 1 to 10. The pack uses 1 for both, the same as the mod default.[3]
- Padding along the bar's main axis, from 0 to 20: layout.hud.shape.collinearPadding is 3 on the HUD and layout.inventory.shape.collinearPadding is 4 in the inventory. Both match the mod defaults.[3]
- Fine-tuning offsets, from -50 to 50: the offset along the bar is 0 for both (layout.hud.fineTuning.collinearOffset and layout.inventory.fineTuning.collinearOffset). The offset perpendicular to the bar is 2 on the HUD (layout.hud.fineTuning.orthogonalOffset) and 3 in the inventory (layout.inventory.fineTuning.orthogonalOffset). All match the mod defaults.[3]
Stylish Effects compatibility
Since v1.0.2 the mod has compatibility with Stylish Effects. When that mod is installed, behavior.renderCustomTimer renders a smaller duration text at the top left of effects, and behavior.renderOldTimer decides whether the original Stylish Effects timer is shown. The pack has the custom timer set to true and the original timer set to false, so the original timer is hidden.[1][3]
Which Status Effect Bars Reforged config options matter?
4 parts
Status Effect Bars Reforged is a client-side mod that draws small bars under your status effects to show how long they have left. Everything here lives in one file. Wherever the file lists a mod default, this pack leaves the value at that default, so nothing below is a pack-specific change.[1][3]
When bars show up
- behavior.maxRemainingDuration is 2,147,483,647 ticks, the same as the mod default. That is the max int value, which means bars are never hidden just because an effect has a long duration.[3]
- behavior.minAmbientAge is 90 ticks, also the mod default. Bars for ambient effects, such as beacon effects, stay hidden until the effect's age passes this value.[3]
- layout.hud.enabled and layout.inventory.enabled are both true, so you get bars on the HUD and in the inventory.[3]
Stylish Effects timers
behavior.renderCustomTimer is true. When Stylish Effects is installed, the mod draws a smaller duration text at the top left of each effect. behavior.renderOldTimer is false, so the original Stylish Effects timer is hidden.[3]
Colors
color.colorMode is set to EFFECT_COLOR, so each bar uses the color of its status effect. The other allowed values are CATEGORY_COLOR and CUSTOM.[3]
The color values below are in ARGB format and match the mod defaults. color.backgroundColor is -2147483648. color.beneficialForegroundColor, color.harmfulForegroundColor and color.neutralForegroundColor are all -2130706433.[3]
Layout
The HUD and inventory bars have separate settings, but the direction and placement are the same for both. layout.hud.position.direction and layout.inventory.position.direction are LEFT_TO_RIGHT. layout.hud.position.relativeToEnd and layout.inventory.position.relativeToEnd are true, which places the bar relative to the end (bottom or right) of the effect rectangle.[3]
layout.hud.shape.thickness and layout.inventory.shape.thickness are both 1 pixel, the mod default. Each accepts a range of 1 to 10.[3]
- HUD: layout.hud.shape.collinearPadding is 3 (range 0 to 20), layout.hud.fineTuning.orthogonalOffset is 2 and layout.hud.fineTuning.collinearOffset is 0 (both offsets accept -50 to 50). All match the mod defaults.[3]
- Inventory: layout.inventory.shape.collinearPadding is 4 (range 0 to 20), layout.inventory.fineTuning.orthogonalOffset is 3 and layout.inventory.fineTuning.collinearOffset is 0 (both offsets accept -50 to 50). All match the mod defaults.[3]
If a bar overlaps something, nudge it with the offset options. The orthogonal offset moves it perpendicular to the bar, and the collinear offset moves it along the bar's main axis.[3]
What changed in Status Effect Bars Reforged between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Status Effect Bars Reforged 1.0.2, using the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier, so you have had it from the start.[2]
Mod changelog
- 1.0.2: the changelog's only note is "stylish effecfts compat" (spelled that way in the source), which points to a compatibility fix for a Stylish Effects mod. That is the version this pack uses.[2][4]
There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't point you to any pack release that changed how it behaves. Nothing in the sources says the pack altered the mod from what the 1.0.2 jar provides.[2]
