What is Shrink?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Shrink is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 2.0.1.47, built for NeoForge. It was already included in this pack's 1.22.0 release or earlier.[1]
Unverified The sources available for this guide don't describe what Shrink does, who it is for, or where it fits in the pack's progression, so none of that is covered here. I also couldn't confirm any quests tied to the mod or a place on the ATM Star path. Check the mod in-game, and this section will grow once more is confirmed.
How do you get started with Shrink?
3 parts
Getting started with Shrink in this pack comes down to one item: the Personal Shrinking Device. Make that first, because it is the only Shrink item with a recipe in the pack's recipe dump.[2][3]
Step 1: Craft the Personal Shrinking Device
This pack adds its own recipe for the device through a KubeJS script, so follow the one below rather than any recipe you remember from elsewhere. It is a shaped recipe, so the layout matters.[2]
Shaped (kubejs)
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
| any fortron infused ingot | any fortron infused ingot | |
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: ftb:crafting/shrinking_device
This is the pack's own shaped recipe for the Personal Shrinking Device.
Step 2: Check the pack's settings
Before you start shrinking things, it helps to know what the pack has set. These values come from the pack's Shrink config file, which only gives them short labels, so I'll stick to those.[4]
- maxSize (Shrink Max Size) is 10 in this pack.[4]
- minSize (Shrink Min Size) is -1 in this pack.[4]
- shrinkingDeviceCapacity (Shrinking Device capacity) is 100,000 in this pack.[4]
- shrinkingDeviceCost (Shrinking Device cost) is 100 in this pack.[4]
Step 3: Learn the controls
Shrink adds a key binding called Toggle Shrink, listed under the Shrink category in your controls screen. Have a look there and bind it to something comfortable.[3]
The mod's item text also gives a handy hint: right-click a shrunken entity with a glass bottle to capture it.[3]
How does Shrink work?
3 parts
Shrink is a small mod in this pack, and its main item is the Personal Shrinking Device. The sources only explain a few of its systems, so this section sticks to what they confirm.[3][4]
The Personal Shrinking Device
Shrink adds its own keybind, called "Toggle Shrink", in the Shrink category of the controls menu. Check your controls screen if you want to rebind it.[3]
The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the device, shown below.[2][5]
Shaped (kubejs)
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
| any fortron infused ingot | any fortron infused ingot | |
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: ftb:crafting/shrinking_device
Pack config values
These are the values this pack sets in the Shrink config file.[4]
- maxSize (Shrink Max Size) is 10.[4]
- minSize (Shrink Min Size) is -1.[4]
- shrinkingDeviceCapacity (Shrinking Device capacity) is 100,000.[4]
- shrinkingDeviceCost (Shrinking Device cost) is 100.[4]
Capturing shrunken entities
Shrink also has a bottle for mobs. Its tooltip tells you to right-click a shrunken entity with a glass bottle to capture it. Once the bottle is filled, the tooltip shows what it contains.[3]
How do you progress through Shrink?
The sources for this pack confirm one progression step for Shrink: crafting the Personal Shrinking Device. The pack adds its own shaped crafting recipe for it through a KubeJS server script.[2][5]
The recipe is built around a part from another mod, so you need to get that far in your run before you can make the device. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[2][5]
Shaped (kubejs)
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
| any fortron infused ingot | any fortron infused ingot | |
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: ftb:crafting/shrinking_device
This recipe is added by the pack's own script, so this is the version to follow in this pack.
How does Shrink work with other mods?
Shrink connects to another mod in this pack through its crafting recipe. The pack adds that recipe with KubeJS, so it is a pack change and not something you would see from the mod on its own.[2]
The Personal Shrinking Device is crafted from the Atom Shrinking Module, which comes from Compact Machines, plus any ingot from the fortron-infused ingot tag and any ingot from the steel ingot tag. In this pack, that means you need the Atom Shrinking Module before you can make the Personal Shrinking Device.[2]
Shaped (kubejs)
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
| any fortron infused ingot | any fortron infused ingot | |
| Empty slot | any steel ingot | Empty slot |
Recipe id: ftb:crafting/shrinking_device
This is the pack's shaped KubeJS recipe for the Personal Shrinking Device.
Because the recipe asks for ingot tags and not fixed items, any ingot that belongs to the fortron-infused or steel tag will work in its slot.[2]
Which Shrink config options matter?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Shrink keeps its settings in one file, and this pack sets every option in it. Here is exactly what the pack uses.[6]
- maxSize is set to 10. The config labels it the Shrink Max Size.[6]
- minSize is set to -1. The config labels it the Shrink Min Size.[6]
- shrinkingDeviceCapacity is set to 100,000. The config labels it the Shrinking Device capacity.[6]
- shrinkingDeviceCost is set to 100. The config labels it the Shrinking Device cost.[6]
The first two options are the size settings, and the last two are the Shrinking Device settings. If you want to change any of them, edit the file config/shrink.json5.[6]
